Having it appear by accident or on purpose doesn't surprise me in the least. So when you guys saw the Wells it was armed and on the offensive, too? That does surprise me.

I assume these starships are not all called Relativity? No reason they should be. As I read this thread, I assumed that the ship is simply representative of Timefleet observers from the future. I was thinking corner of your eye views of the starship at a distance. Perhaps something that vanishes if we ever try to approach it. And if Timefleet is that involved in observing 2409 what are they here to restore?

Trying to rationalize why AnYTHING is in STO is pointless. In this game we have an NX sitting next to an Odyssey at ESD. Those 2 ships are more then 350 years apart in Trek history. Cryptic gets around the dislogiic by using the term "replica." All of those ships are there for the whimsical Trek fans - the same reason why all the Uniforms are there, pets are there, etc. If the Wells and Kolath get added to the game it will be for the same reason. There's no Trek continuity to STO - heck, there's no Trek continuity to most of Trek.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

So a player Wells class could be a "replica" designed by the Starfleet corps of engineers along the lines laid down in Janeway's report about that encounter?
Or within STO canon the future Wells could be a replica of a ship produced in the 25th Century in the same way the 25th Century engineers are paying homage to the NX, TOS Connie, etc.. It's all just about making things fun for fans.

Either that or Braxton keeps coming back and loosing more time ships over and over again leaving us with a stock pile.

It was an accident on the part of the Devs, it has to be, it has been completely removed in the next patch, from the foundry and as a NPC.

And they are all called Relativity on the huil.

Well that's a chicken or the egg problem if ever there was one... If the replica of the ship was created 500 years before the ship it was a replica of, who's to say the 'original' Wells team wasn't paying a homage to the 'replica' from half a millennium before?

Also, I very strongly doubt this is going to be the 1000 day veteran award. The rewards page lists a Starship variant. The Wells be a Starship. Nothing variant about it. I can only hope it's a T5 Miranda. :P
(Centaur saucer, Shi'kahr pod and nacelles, Miranda pylons, and material 4: looks up to date enough.)

Even if it's not the Vet Reward - which I doubt it is as well - it's still possible that it might be an eventual C-Store ship. There's no reason to make both a Fed and KDF version if there's no intention of selling them.

The KDF don't need a new playable ship anyway - but the Fed side should be getting a new one every month - that would be optimal.

Eh... don't really think this should be playable in the game. As an asset in a mission? Sure. Regularly playable? No thanks.

I know several hundreds KDF players who would disagree with you. :)

And Cryptic knows that there are several 1000 times that would would like only Fed ships to come out frequently - who do you think Cryptic will cater to? No need to respond it's a retorical question.

Sooo does this mean that the KDF from the Future are trying to bring new Tech to the KDF to help them Win the War, and the Wells has to travel to the past to stop them before it's too late and the KDF wins the War? :D

Seriously though, the slip into the Foundry and Randomly Generated NPC's, if it was a slip, is on the fault of the Development team, not the players. And the community shouldn't be penalized because of it just because of pictures being shown a "Ooo look what I found when doing X"

It's isn't Cryptic doing any deleting, it's Temporal Investigation removing evidence of their existance.

Sorry, but I'm not a Role player and I find the excuse to be lacking and rediculious.

If you are not a role player (in the context of the statement you are responding to), then why do you care about continuity anyway?

That was a continuity friendly answer and if that makes it unacceptable, the ship being there in the first place should not be an issue.

A Light in the Dark had just 2 of them in the Armada at the beginning.

Took a look at the hull numbers. Equal to a Rhode island and Intrepid class in the group.
So: Wells Class = Science Ship?

The Wells weapons layout supports this, 2 beams fore and aft, 1 torpedo for and aft with feedback pulse 2 and tachyon harmonic as well as a decent turn rate.... the fact that it does little damage also supports the notion that it's a sci ship.:D

Oh and also, the hull registry on the U.S.S. Wells (NCV 474438-A) is very close to the U.S.S. Relativity registry (NCV 474439-G).:)

That would make sense, its a small ship and it investigates timeline disruptions, that seems to be a sciency thing.

I saw it this morning on my Fed. While doing the "War Games" mission at the end where you and the fleet was out attacking the 8472 ship. I saw one in the mix flying around. It had Wells Class listed on it. Instead of the usual ship name. Not sure if it was firing on the ship or not cause I saw it just kinda fly past.

So Kestral is going to use a Wells Class ship to undo some of the bad plots and loose ends in this game? This I got to see.

I've just been reminded, the USS Wells showing up, was similar to when the Nebula was added, it kept showing up everywhere as the USS T'Kumbra

Makes about as much sense as having a ship from another timeline.

This I don't get, I assume your talking about the Gal-X correct? Well who is to say simply because it was a alternate future that it doesn't get designed in this future? I mean the Gal-X isn't centuries more advanced like the Wells class is.

So to say the Wells class makes as much sense as a Gal-X is kinda stupid. Do you have any reference to the early 25th century that shows a Gal-X never existed in the Prime verse?

I spotted many Wells classes in the final battle of The Doomsday Machine. Funny thing is, they're being beaten by 25th century Klingon warships...
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

I've regurlarly seen a "Wells Class" ship in the past couple days probably 3-5 times so far while running KDF Fleet alert. Didn't occur to me that this is supposed to be new secret ship or whatever, it blew as easy as everything else so didn't have a chance to really look at it up close.

Yeah, I can't help but think that the Vesta's my next 'shut up and take my money' ship. I love the lore around the Aventine and want a Vesta myself :)

I just fought one in the Kahless Expanse. I don't understand why there is such drama about removing it from the forums when it's been left in the game.
