My Starfleet ship is named Reaper.

It's an Mass Effect injoke that nobody has ever commented on.

To explain, the Reapers is a race of sentient Starships and the first one we meet has been named Sovereign.

So, seeing as I use a Sovereign class almost exclusively, I named it Reaper to see if anyone would make the connection.

    Nobody has so far! :(

To be fair, few people want to talk about Mass Effect these days. :P

Mobius = USS Chronokinetor, from an old SciFi book and appropriate
Aeon Time shuttle = USS DeLorean, duh
Chel Grett = Sasquatch, cuz its big and ugly
Wells = Master Po, the blind monk from Kung Fu
    Miranda ( I love TWOK, but no I don't want a T5 Miranda) = USS Refiant
Fleet Defiant = Deliant, just for symmetry's sake

KDF = all variations on "taH pagh taHbe", quoting good 'ol Christopher Plummer

My guess is "hope" keeps people not playing but posting on the forums. For others, its a path of sad realization and closure. Grieving takes time. The worst "haters" here love the game, or did at some point.

For my Galaxy class, I named it Adrasteios, which is the masculine form of an Greek epithet for the Goddess Nemesis (Adrasteia) which means "Inescapable", and I thought that was cool.

I named an Excelsior class ship Excalibur, because it sounds a lot like Excelsior and I loved that ship.

And I have a Constitution class called Lykourgos after the Spartan lawgiver, and an Ambassador class called Aias (Ajax).

Oh yeah and I only have 1 Klingon vessel, but it's a D-7 called Gr'oth after Koloth's ship from TOS.

Hi there peoplez, I have many ships and the reasons for the names are complex, made in seconds due to mood and stuff, here's my main ship names I have used.

I.K.S. Toilet Paper - This is literally a joke to kirk and uranus jokes, it also tells my enemies that they are soon to be whiped off the map, and to be given a "weak hull" image and to show what the truth is, in big assplosion.

I.K.S. D00M - This is my karfi carrier, have you heard the saying "are you readying your doom?" or something similar, can't remember at this state of my soul.

A.K.S. Fridgerator - This was literally something somebody told me to name it, flying fridge, a temporal destroyer.

I.K.S. Potato - This name is literally by the looks of the ship, another name I were thinking of giving to this ship was I.K.S. Cucumber, It was kinda like taken by my another ship. What can you think of a patrol cruiser?

I.K.S. Jihad - This is simply my tholian shuttle, fast, agile, yepp... nuff said.

I.K.S. Moist Cucumber - This is my Fleet Norgh, bought it literally to troll people with the weak sauce hull, and the speed it has. Speedy cucumbers are moist.

I.K.S. Memory of Lilli - This is literally a contribution to my dearest cat, which died last summer, a guramba destroyer, destroyer of all lies.

I.K.S. Moon - This is my ferengi ship and it literally has just visual look, another idea was to name it to I.K.S. Croissant. I simply thought Moon was cooler.

I.K.S. Tribble - This is always name of my B'rels because getting instapopped by a tribble is always hilarous.

I.K.S. Station - This is simple name to my Vo'Quvs, simply because they are big metal chickens.

    ---

That is list of my more and less unique ship names I use, peace out!
Say the word, it saves the world.

    I am Malik JaS.

    I.S.S. Marauder
    NCC-93195
    Mirror Patrol Escort
It's a powerful little thing, does need some retrofitting though.

    I.S.S. Versailles
    NCC-93055
    Mirror Assault Cruiser
I really love cruisers despite being a tac captain. They're just too majestic which is why I named it Versailles since it turns just about as well as a gaudy palace in space anyway.

[Mirror Vessels because they're cheap, ha. It fits though walking around wearing the Fallen title anyway. I secretly defected to the Terran Empire.]

    U.S.S. Harlequin
    NCC-98765
    Long Range Science Vessel
Wearing the Jem'Hadar set with Polaron weapons and a nice purple paint job.

    U.S.S. Rapture
    NCC-93256
    Support Cruiser Refit
    I love Bioshock.

    U.S.S. Vendetta
    NCC-93828 (3828 = FUCT)
    Odyssey Tactical Cruiser
The largest and most boat like of all. Rage is a terrible thing to waste. Besides I just couldn't let myself use some happy-go-lucky uplifiting name for a fancy Fed Cruiser.

    U.S.S. Vesuvius
    NCC-92477
    Danube Runabout
It'll probably just die, then explode causing chaos and death to rain down upon enemies...or not. Sucks to suck.

My ships are all named after ships from the Royal Navy. When choosing specific names I name my Cruisers after Battleships and Ships of the Line, my Escorts are named after Cruisers, Destroyers and Frigates while my Science Vessels are named after Survey Ships.

Currently my characters are flying around in USS Temeraire (named for a 98-gun second-rate from the Napoleonic War), USS Diomede (named for a WW1 cruiser) and USS Beagle (named for a 10-gun sloop used as a survey ship and most famously carrying Darwin).

Curse you, I was actually contemplating Temeraire as a ship name for a while. :D But then, I find that the Napoleonic Wars are a very popular source of ship names (I've seen at least one Royal Sovereign and more than a few ships called Victory.)

For my Federation Captain DarthTrekker my ships are named U.S.S. SparrowHawk, U.S.S. SparrowHawk-A, and so on. This is from my favorite Romulan Ship type off of Star Trek Starfleet Command 1 the SparrowHawk series.

For my KDF Commander T-DinoGorn, his ship is I.K.S. Jurassic Park. This is due to him being a Gorn, which look like humanoid dinosaurs.

My main toon's flagship (from which I have derived my PWE handle) is the Odyssey-class USS Pax Federatica, a pseudo-Latin play on Pax Britannica, Pax Romana etc. It basically means "peace secured by the Federation".

A few of my ship names are decidedly tongue-in-cheek: an Atrox carrier named USS Kitty Hawk (after the site of the Wright Brothers' first airplane flight), a Borgified Mirror science vessel called ISS Borgata (after a hotel in Las Vegas) and a Chimera destroyer named USS Condor (an ugly-TRIBBLE$ bird, named for another ugly-TRIBBLE$ bird).

Two are named for Mars rovers: a Vesta named USS Pathfinder and a Delta Flyer named USS Curiosity.

I also have a Polaris science vessel named USS North Star, and another Mirror science vessel named ISS Panem (after the evil government of the Hunger Games series).

My Saurian Engineer, Vice Admiral Draco, had his ships named after dragons, such as the Wyvern, the Drachenstein, the Whelp, the Grand Dragon, the Iron Leviathan, and his Odyssey the Dragon Rage.

    ~

My Gorn Tactical, Lieutenant General Ocard (very original, I must say), had less of a theme. I started by naming ships after crocodiles and similar species, but that got boring (not to mention I ran out of those names) and I decided to go with whatever I felt like.

His Negh'var is the IKS Skittles 'cause it has a full rainbow of beam arrays.

The Bortas is the King Ghidorah 'cause it's big, tough, and flies through space.

His Vo'Quv is Gwazine and his Kar'fai is Doros, both named for ships from the anime Mobile Suit Gundam. His Jem'hadar Escort Carrier is named Reinforce since I think it resembles a warship from the Mobile Suit V Gundam anime of the same name.

His Galor is the Badi Dea and his D'Kora is the Sumpntodo, named after warships from the PC game TIE Fighter. His Chell Grot is named the Darkwing after Darkwing Duck; I originally wanted a set of Jem'hadar shields to make it purple, but since you can only own one of those at a time and my Galor has that, I gave it the Reman set.

His Kamarag Battlecruiser is named Birdemic. I wanted Birdemic: Shock and Terror but that's too long. Kudos and condolences if you've ever heard of/seen it.

He's got a Mirror Vor'cha named the Rowsdower. That was what my standard Vor'cha was named before I discarded it in favor of the Mirror version. Another Kudos for figuring this one out.

He has a Mirror Vo'Quv named the Bruticus since I couldn't think of anything better than to name it after the Combaticons. I might rename it White Base so it's a "good" version of my normal Vo'Quv.

Finally, his Widow Fighter is named the Swoop because its colors remind me of the Dinobot Swoop.

    ~

I can't think of most of the ship names from my Vulcan Science off the top of my head, but I know she has a science vessel named Anaheim, after Anaheim Electronics from Gundam, and a Caitian carrier named Musai, also from Gundam. I wish you could make those carriers an olive green to really complete my illusion. (^_^)-b

My D'Kyr with the Vulcan/Betazoid sci captain is named Trancendant, a play off her mind-TRIBBLE capabilities.

The torp-only battle-cloaked B'Rel is named A'Qula. Akula is Russian for shark (turns out Klingonese has no known words for fish) and the class name of one of their better submarine designs, and Qul is Klingon for fire. So, shark filled with fire, sorta.

U.S.S. Palatine (NCC-92621) on my main Scientist - as the Vesta class ships are named after the Seven hills of Rome and the memory beta entry about the Vesta class did not provide that name to be taken already. I even tried using a more or less feasible progression in the ship registry number - though I'd have to use an 8 instead of a 9 there.

U.S.S. Isunova on my Tac after a song I like. Flying to this is - fun.

    soon to come:
U.S.S. Vidocq on my Engineer - though I admittedly got the name from our ongoing pen'n'paper RPG Traveller campaign

    Almost forgot:
U.S.S. Apeiron - 'without boundaries/limits/end' {unlimited, endless, infinite}; always liked that as a ships' name

I.K.S. HoS'natlh (~'energy drain') on my Scientist - guess why

I.K.S. luSpet'ghIt ('black hole {axe} blade') on my Tac due to the nasty Grav Well/Scatter volley combination

Each of my captains has a different 'theme' to their ship names; so:

Yumi = Mythic weapons. Currently her main ship is the USS Courtain, a restored and refitted Jem'hadar dreadnought carrier. She's also got ships named Almace, Arondight, Caliburn, Durandal and Kusanagi, and... Sting. (Tolkien is mythology up to a point! >_>)

Avellen Llaei = Names of characters from the Claymore manga, which I was majorly into when I created her. (Sadly that series has gone way downhill imo so I may redo her name theme at some point). For now her main ship is the USS Miria, with the USS Galatea as her main backup.

Abigail = Various names and titles for Athena/Minerva in Greek/Roman myth. Current ship is I believe the Pallas Athena, but it's been awhile since I used her. May redo her theme to famous British ships from history, we'll see.

Tuang Li = Norse Mythology. Her main is a Vo'Quv called IKS Valhalla; with Birds of Prey alternately named after Hugin and Munin, cruisers named after Sleipnir, and Raptors named alternately after Geri and Freki.

Alice = Only one ship, the USS Black Valkyrie. She's Section 31 black ops, so every time she upgrades her ship, the previous one is destroyed and the new one takes it's designation (not that it's officially registered anywhere as that...).

    Federation:

I called my Galaxy, U.S.S Galaxy, because I like that name.

My current ship, a Mirror Universe Advance Escort is called U.S.S. JJ-prise.

I use anti-proton cannons and stuff so... seemed like a good fit.. ;)

    Klingon:

I called my klingon Bird of Prey... wait for it...
