Was this really necessary? The ability to earn fleet marks through them was already time-gated. Now you have stealth-patched in 10 and 30 minute cooldowns on the easy and medium missions there, so at best a group could do their preferred missions like those in sector Bravo 5 times before the window closes.
My feedback on the matter: Reverse it. This was a stupid move on the Dev's behalf; no one likes being restricted twice-over on a commodity they need. Fleet marks aren't exactly overabundant last I checked, this is just asinine.
Instead of trying to moderate how fast people can improve their starbases, how about doing something actually beneficial to your players like fixing the foundry?
This patch has practically destroyed any chance of advancement for small fleets. Small fleets were already struggling, now they gonna struggle even more so.
I got a unfinished project that requires 900 marks, 20 astrometrics (400k each on exchange) and bunch of other peanuts. At best I could get 50 marks. possibly 100 during the event. So now all my fleet is stuck for 18 events till we get this cleared.
I mean really, what FM are there for? And why timegating them?
To ensure that people are playing this wonderful and exciting new content? Which is a bloody toruture boredom and bugfarm all over the place?
Well people are suffering the new content cause yeah, it is the only way of getting FMs. So timegating FMs is a way to enure that people will just have to suffer longer.
Now I imagine newcomer lvl50 fleetie in my fleet, and I have to tell the guy "go grind for fleetmarks cause we need them. It is our long tem goal for the next 360 days."
This was the only mission i was doing because is was rewarding, now with the 30 min cd it has become useless. This game is becoming like work with the endless mind numming grind.
cooldown timers on these missions is pure stupidity ont he devs part and shows once and for all that NONE of the devs that are left actually play the game at all, and are now bowing down almost compleatly to there new PWE overlords.
They really do need to reverse this...they knew it wouldnt be well recieved so they snuck it in, plus its made the farming just useless. I swear whenever something really good is introduced they nerf the hell out of it. PPl were probably flooding the ecxhange with redshirt rewards and PWE wants to control the flow of the spice or some TRIBBLE like that. HATE THIS....
I just dont understand... why? What purpose does it serve to nerf FM generation like this?
Like others have said, they had to know that yanking out the method for producing the most FM was going to be poorly received (and by poorly I mean hated).
oh and WHY THE **** WAS THIS NOT IN THE PATCH NOTES!...
It is more than important enough to state that one was going to do this so state it, or was this just to get a couple hours reprieve before the rage that was inevitably going to ensue
If there is anything that you should have learned by reading through these forums it is: PEOPLE DISPISE TIMEGATED CONTENT. Period. Now, I support you fixing exploits, but I STRONGLY disagree with cooldown timers on an event that is already timegated.
Please remove the cooldown timers on easy and medium nukara missions.
Please fix the zoning issues with teams being separated across maps.
Please open more ways to earn fleet marks (Hint: make Nukara missions award fleet marks all the time, not only during the fleet mark event.)
And apparently nerfing Fleet Mark generation is easier than putting DOFF missions for converting commendations into Fleet Marks. DOFF missions that were supposedly already coded and ready to be hooked into the game.
What I really find funny about this is they patch the one grind mission set that uses EV suits on the SAME DAY as they rollout their overpriced EV suits. Is there absolutely no corporate planning?
This was the only mission i was doing because is was rewarding, now with the 30 min cd it has become useless. This game is becoming like work with the endless mind numming grind.
If that was the only mission you were doing, doesn't that tell you that it was likely out of line with what was intended?
(this is not to say any the rate without it is reasonable, just pointing out that exceptions are more often bugs than intended).
This, coupled with the recent trend towards single-character purchases that are far overpriced (IE (Z) Combat Suits)... Makes me question if they have any real design sense at all left at all or they are just doing all they can to make maximum profits with minimal development. Here's to hoping they come around to their senses.
Realistically, I'm still new to the whole MMO idea, but I have been in software world for about 20 years now and the way this company operates just amazes me.
* There's no listening to customer feedback whatsoever. Yes poor branflakes moves the rant posts into the trashbin and that's about it. I don't envy his job, and he deserves my respect.
* There's absolutely no quality control in the release cycle. The patch that introduces new cosmetic changes without any attention to usability breaks 150 other things that are easy to spot in first 15 minutes of gameplay. Like, seriously, do you guys eat your own dogfood?
* 3 major weekly patches in 3 weeks: content, revenue oriented and cosmetics. There's no stabilising phase between them. Guys it takes 20 seconds to get an item from a fleet bank, you're obviously out of server capacity now, cause it wasn't that bad 4 weeks ago.
* Any great software has care about customers behind it, major principle being "we love our customers, they actually bring us revenue". Not in this company. This company just plays god: look you gonna get new toys, but you have to grind very very hard for them in the next 12 months.
* And what amazes me, the population of this game still eating that stuff right out of Cryptic hands.
And no wonder that two major devs had left the company in 2 weeks time...
just pointing out that exceptions are more often bugs than
intended).
This... I think Nukara Farming wasn't supposed to be possible, i think it was a mistake on initial launch. Maybe as another time gate to prevent rapid base advancement.
Seeing that no other method generates nearly as much FM as the farming event did... having farmed over 600 in 2 hours myself. The next closest is what 20-25 in 15 minutes? A max of ~ 200 during the 2 hour FM event?
Making Nukara 3x higher than other avenues... I think it was a mistake. Assuming the change on easy and medium is correct... it would bring nukara into like with the other events
Red Shirt = 5-7 minutes tops with a team = 10
Closing Doors = 5-7 minutes = 10
and so on.
Simply put, i think nukara was meant to have a cooldown all along.
The inevitability that the devs were going to TRIBBLE the small fleets over has now shown itself. The 20h timeframes on the major starbase projects and the Fleet Mark event(s) being the only time(s) of the day that you could earn Fleet Marks from the Tholian Invasion were the equalizers between small and large fleets, but at least pre-patch the small fleets had a CHANCE to keep up. No longer.
With this stupid cooldown implemented on the medium missions, small fleets have no chance to get their project contributions filled up in any reasonable timeframe. Some of us players have no interest in large fleets, but now the devs apparently are trying to pigeonhole players into social settings and gameplay groups that they feel we should be in, otherwise why nerf the only reasonable Fleet Mark source so badly?
And where the hell is my Fleet Tribble already?!
All you did with this patch is (a) show your greed with those stupid STUPID EV suits in the C-Store, and (b) show you really don't give a damn about the players you NEED to keep this game running.
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
As if donating 300 stupid chiken s*** datasamples arent' grindy enuff.. Ah, well at least datasamples come 250 in a stack.
But absolutely moronic 250 photon torpedo mk i, that take one inventory slot? Go donate 250 of them with a free toon with what is it? 36 inventory slots or less?
I'm simply amazed, seriously, it took some person thinking, possibly conversation with other people to actually come up with these ideas. And then it took some development time to actually implementthen. And all we get is just stupid mind numbing clicking. I'm lost as to what kind of people are creating this game...
I couldn't agree more, this needs to be changed. Having cooldowns on these missions just makes an already long, tedious process much much longer still.
But I think anybody who went to Nukara and grinded hard knew it was coming, i really do think we knew it was going to happen. It was destined to happen, because the players were doing something unexpected with new content, but honestly, it wasn't a bug or an exploit (like the ole Graviton Beam bug in STFs), just people choosing to hard grind for something nobody had anything of when starbases first hit.
So, we knew it was coming, whether you wanted to admit it or not, we knew they would do it.
I am glad that my fleet last night did do a hard grind at Nukara for both Fed and KDF bases.
Again though, remove the time limits, the players are only being hurt by this almost 'another brick in the wall' type of limitation. It isn't going to exactly help the game in the slightest bit.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
If that was the only mission you were doing, doesn't that tell you that it was likely out of line with what was intended?
Yes it's most likely.
The other content is a mess however.
What is it, 10-20 marks for a full 15-20 minute Starbase Defense?
7 -12 marks for No Win Scenario?
(My numbers might be off, I don't do these very often because they are terrible - the rewards are terrible, the design is terrible, they are un-creative zero-strategy fights in open bland looking sections of space)
In missions that grant literally nothing else at all?
The loot is pure garbage, its not even worth rolling on. Batteries and MK VIII to MK XI White/green items?
No reward bag, no other incentive but a tiny trickle of FMs?
Nukara, the mind numbing, soul eating grind from hell that it was - was still the only passable way to generate fleet marks as a small fleet.
Seriously the devs need to improve the garbage rewards of the space and other fleet events, for one thing some kind of tangible end reward that goes beyond a handful of fleet marks - something like a "fleet requisitions pack" that can randomly have a handful of needed items for Fleet Projects (DOFFs, Dilithium, Data Samples, etc).
This is what amaze me too. Any thing which is actually useful is either way nerfed or removed or timegated and whatnot. And the player base expects, and takes it as inevitable. And the player base actually feels that it is right.
I think this is wrong. We are the playerbase. We are the main reason this company is still in business, and we would like to see it a better game. Hell, this is why I paid for LTS, which isn't cheap, compared to other games.
But the company just does not deliver.
Not to mention that most of people in this game are coming from civilised countries with a long history of fighting for that democracy.
The thing is, starbases are already limited by the time it takes to build them. Wasn't it said somewhere that at the fastest, assuming you could meet all of the resource demands as soon as they came up, the starbases would take several months or more to build? If that's so, why try to slow them down more?
Plus, why remove an opportunity for players to grind fleet credits? The fleet ships you buy with them involve a cash based component. Other equipment involves dilithium, which can be translated into a cash based component if someone doesn't have time or want to grind it. If the point is trying to monetize the game, this is a poor way to go about it.
If the whole thing was to make people buy the new EV suits, then all that needed to be done was to lower the drop rate of the Tholian suit. Nukara didn't have to be... um... nuked. lol
As it is, if there are to be cooldowns, then remove the event and keep the ability to get fleet marks as a normal reward for the missions. Otherwise Nukara is pointless and a waste of time to us as players, and to the Dev team that made it in the first place, because the way it is now, no one with any sense will want to go there again.
Simple solution: Have Nukara ALWAYS give Fleet Marks for the missions and have the Fleet Event give more. The whole 'gated event' concept is frustrating to those of us who can't always be on for that very specific two hour block of time.
(My numbers might be off, I don't do these very often because they are terrible - the rewards are terrible, the design is terrible, they are un-creative zero-strategy fights in open bland looking sections of space)
You noticed that too? The blank space all the new engagements seem to be in, yet the Season 6 trailer was SO vivid, full of graphics and great background art...what a joke.

Whats the angle? A way to buy FM?

I'm asking nicely. I know many players who won't.

Anyway all I had to say was - now you have no easy grind - get out the red bull and grind marks 24/7

why play any of the stfs or missions when now most important item/currency is for only the new fleet stfs.
