Sorry, pretty new here. This isn't the only time I have seen something about "padding" a post count. What is so important, or how does it benefit someone to have a higher post count?

People seem to think having more posts makes you an authority, when in reality it tends to make you a spammer.
Season 4 pushed out early, train wreck. Season 5 pushed out early, train wreck, here we go again, feedback means nothing and history is something not to be learnt from LOL And people wonder why I cancelled my sub...
Right now the everyone is bent on figuring out whetehr it is season six. I'd love to see what happens when you rush into a bugged up and player overloaded system to find your precious new starbase register as an enemy and have 1 hull point. Post counts are actually fairly meaningless. The only advantage is that a larger number of posts will make your "rank" under your avatar higher. So people spam to get their post count up. It happens on every forum where your "rank" is linked to how many posts you have.

That's actually a really good point. Likely the source code will be there, but whether or not it's active, well, that's another story.
