The exploit would be that while some may have only 1 level 50 character, they could get a few level 25s and such to trade EDCs, Salvage, and tech to. Those level 25s could then go and sell them for commodities such as Dilithium, making it easier for 1 account holder to make all the dilithium he can in a day. I know if I were able to exploit it like this, I could make 32,000 dilithium in a matter of about 3 hours, if that. I mean, I've maxed out my dilithium in 1 STF before. I've gotten Prototype Salvage and Rare Tech in one, making 4000 dilithium. I've gotten 2 rare salvage and 1 rare tech and made 3000. You can make out your dilithium in 1-2 runs easy if you don't need the things you're picking up. So, if you trade the excess to your other characters to sell for dilithium at the STF store, that is a seriously huge exploit.
The way to fix it would be to only allow level 44s and above access the STF store. This wasn't put into the game because there was no need. Everything you needed from the STF stores you could only get from STFs, which you had to be level 44 to run. So there was no point in having them be inaccessible to levels lower than 44. Do this, and you'll actually have to run STFs with multiple characters to get that gear; and when you get a better chance at getting better drops the better you do in STFs, you won't pass on rare tech and proto salvage until you have your shipped decked out in it. So, essentially, the fix will force you to run them with all your characters and the way it is now does that as well. Also, the way it is no requires each character to earn their gear, where you want to be able to just give it to them. So yes, I can see it as being slightly exploitable. As much as I would love to be able to do this, I can see where they are coming from.

You can just as easily max Dilithium by handing in Contraband along with other DOFF missions.
Besides, there shouldn't be any concern if an alt got their hands on Dilithium, because ships are free while leveling up. And you can get top-notch gear off the Exchange without needing to buy it from the Dilithum Store. Also, as I posted earlier, having them exchange Dilithum for C-Store points (now Zen) is going to be the same ammount if you consolidated all Dilithum on one character and sold it all on the Dilithium Exchange.
So really, what is the exploit they are so afraid of? Or they crying wolf to make us think there is an exploit, when they really don't want to implement such a system?
So you're telling me that by handing in contraband that you can make 32,000 refined dilithium in under 3 hours? Yeah dude, I don't think so. I will agree that you can make a good bit of dilithium a day from turning in contraband, but just like any other doff mission, it takes time to do. You can't even max out a single character's dilithium in a day with Contraband faster than you can running STFs. Contraband might be easier, but it's not faster. Not to mention that to get all the contraband that you need to do the turn in to get that much dilithium will either cost you a boat load of ECs or a lot of time doffing as well. So, Contraband is seriously time consuming or expensive, which makes it less efficient then just sucking it up and playing the game by running the STFs.
I know people that have 18 characters that run STF and DOFFs when they are on, and if given the ability to send EDCs, Salvage, and Tech to their characters, they'd be able to do a full day of STFs and max out their Dilithium on all their characters by doing STFs on one; and that is a boat load of dilithium; 144,000 to be exact. In one day. Now, I know this is possible because I've gotten close to 100,000 on one character in a matter of about 6 hours in game. Granted, I could refine all of it in one day. But, if I had been able to spread those EDCs across my lower characters and turn them in, I would have made about 32000 refined dilithium over the next 3 days with one days work. Hell, it's even worse on Wednesdays when you get get 40 EDCs in a matter of about 2 hours. Mix that in with all the proto salvage and rare tech you'll get from running the amount of STFs you need to get 40 EDCs, and you'll be looking at about 30,000-50,000 dilithium right there, depending on the luck of your drops.
But most people do not have 18 lvl 45+ alts. And you're not maxing out 8k over 18 alts. So the amount of dil is a drop in the bucket.
Besides, normal people run STFs until that particular character has all their pieces. I had like 300k unrefined at one point heh. I've never run it solely for dil or for EDCs to get dil, hell I stilll have all that TRIBBLE in the bank.
Make EDCs locked to 45+, add more doffs or stuff to the store to buy with instead of trading in for dilithium or for less dilithium. Let the req's be account bound. TRIBBLE!

The point of the argument for being able to trade these items is so you DONT have to grind STF's day in day out.
Up till season 6 i was able to (with my 9 toons) refine 72k del a day through contraband alone, more if i bothered to use the NPC's in the academies.
My set up was use 8 of these toons to farm while i play 1, it was a friggin doddle to get that amount of dil and it was guarenteed every day with limited stf play. By limited I mean I didnt grind it out every second it was available to play, i played it as i wanted to maybe 3 or 4 a night and i can say for certain the edc/tech/salvage drop rate was NOT enough to get even close to the amount i was getting from contraband without totally burning out and leaving the game.
After S6 i can still make 50k a day without too much of an issue just from contraband. All i want is to be able to trade useless drops on one toon to a toon that needs them without having to re-grind 500+ stfs to get a (single) drop.
It still me playing the game, why can i not trade a drop that is identical to what another toon needs to another toon.
My time investment is the same regardless of which character i play, the only diff being if these items became tradable i might want to look at leveling up a sci or eng and buy ships along the the way, all safe in the knowledge that i didnt need to run 500 of the same damn mission just to get a drop i already have on another toon.

Yeah... I don't see the "Exploits" here. Anything could be "Exploited" given enough time and effort. But those that would do it have far too much time on their hands anyway.
