If we obtained the equipment the long way, without getting special gear and tech drops, this is how it works mathematically.
Recruit MACO & Omega Equipment = 20 edc each X12
Veteran MACO & Omega Equipment = 40 edc each X12
In order to get the whole recruiters set for both ground and space, you would have to play between 120 (elites) and 240 (norms) stfs.
In order to get the whole veterans set for both ground and space, you would have to play between 240 (elites) and 480 (norms) stfs.
In order to get all 24 pieces, minus the elite sets, you have to play between 360 (elites) to 720 (norms) stfs.
Now, lets us fast forward to season six. Since the only way to build your starbases is through grinding, collecting resources, the number of stfs and/or instance you have to play goes up astronomically. According to an image that was recently released, (Season 6 Dev Blog #2), you have to grind out 500,000 dilithium to bring your starbase to tier 2. Even though you will have an entire fleet collecting resources, the number of stfs and/or instances you will need to play is insane. 500,000 dilithium is to bring your station up one level.

Hahaha...
Well, it's designed to take 30 people, playing daily, over six months to finish.
Well, it's designed to take 30 people, playing daily, over six months to finish.
Is that full time or part-time?
Will it take thirty people forty hours a week for six months?
Will it take thirty people twenty hours a week for six months?
Will it take thirty people ten hours a week for six months?
If it takes forty hours a week for six months, the casual player should just find something else to do.
Will it take thirty people forty hours a week for six months?
Will it take thirty people twenty hours a week for six months?
Will it take thirty people ten hours a week for six months?
It depends on how you play.
How fast do you get 8000 dilithium?
I'd expect, ONLY contributing dilithium, that it will be around 1.5 million.
Then again, you could blow $50 on dilithium right now and get that.
Will it take thirty people forty hours a week for six months?

If it takes forty hours a week for six months, the casual player should just walk away from STO.
heretic said part time.
The system was designed around about 20 casual players, that play 2-3 hours, 2-3 times a week.
He also said it would require absolutely no less than 7 months to finish, no break between running projects.

If it takes forty hours a week for six months, the casual player should just walk away from STO. Instead of playing "Star Trek: Online", casual players should take more hours at work, get married, and have a family.
Well they argue that its supposedly doable for a small fleet to be able to do starbase stuff (e.g. an account + alts). But it would take a while regardless. Its supposed to take a few months, even if they already have everything just in the times it takes for projects to finish for the starbase...

Part time work can be between twenty to thirty five hours a week.

If you paid attention to the flow of my posts, you will see that I was talking about this subject. Cryptic should allow the Borg stf rewards to be account bound, for the amount of time spent on other aspects of the game will make everything daunting. My math is not messed up. I used actual numbers.
Only if you're a child, and even then only if your parents didn't teach you better.
Have you not learned anything about STO & the forums. If EVERYONE does not get the same exact or equally powered item/ship/weapon etc.. it's not fair and they are leaving STO forever.
Sorry Cryptic but this is extremely disappointing (To put it nicely. I would love to say something not so nice but I won't).
If I spend time doing the STFs there is NO exploit in me giving the EDC, Tech or Salvage to another character on the same account. How on earth is that an exploit?
Now if you're afraid this will reduce the amount of grinding we have to do to obtain STF gear on all our characters you need to come out and say that instead of coming up with an exploit excuse when there is NONE.
they already said that existing items would probably not change to account bound unless they run a script or something -> that means 2 different types of these items are able to exist side by side. -> USE THAT AS A FEATURE!
For STF's i really see no problem other than that EDC could be used to circumvent that 8000 / day limit.
-> DO NOT make EDC/Salvage/Tech account bound.
-> instead make the ITEMS we can buy with it Account Bound!
= i can move my MACO XII shield to my ALT, i can not move Token Currency to an ALT to turn that into DIL ORE
-> STF Exploits Solved
...SIMPLE LOGIC
SPOCK WOULD LOL !
//on the other hand
if you can move around the Set Items that would open up another exploit -> you could move around that one precious Mk XII set and unlock the costume option accolade on all characters like that.
That i would not want either...
Maybe just make Proto Tech Drops account bound (nobody is going to throw those away for DIL anyway and they do not drop often enough to make a dent in the 8000 dil/day limit thingy...)

This, A thousand times this!

yeah that seems to solve the convert to dilithium problem, which is really the only issue I could see in trading STF drop items. Of course now my mind is racing around what exploits there could be. It's almost like a challenge lol.

Perhaps a combonation of B2A and BoE.
When you get the item, it's B2A.
Once you have equiped it onto a character, it is now bound to that character.
That would prevent getting just one set, and just moving that one set around.
Pehaps all the STF gear themselves could come in B2A crates, and opening it would bind on pickup.

Good luck with that.
So if you have a small/inactive fleet and nobody buys dilithium, maybe it'll take 9 months or a year.
Is that grounds to walk away? Because somebody else gets there first?

Payed Lobi = Account Bound.
