So what does your 'Net-Test' and 'Trace Route' results look like?

Diagnostics are described in this thread... http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=225155

I'm having the same problem. Usually I log in at night, around 8 or 9 PM EST, and before Season 7 came out, I had no issues with this game. It was great, it was awesome, but now, when Season 7 came out, all I'm getting is either very severe lag or I get disconnected before I have a chance to do anything in the game. I'm a Grade 14 Lieutenant Commander of the Federation in the game, and I have to say this. Cryptic, please fix these lag issues otherwise you will have just lost another customer who has been playing this game for over two months.

I've been on here a lil over two years and it seems like whenever something is about to hit big with neverwinter all the resources are sucked out of CO first then STO to bounce them around to save a few pennies LOL.

Yeah if you had to re-patch sto like I did with this new PC I got you have to turn off the on demand patching or else you'll just get disconnected or TRIBBLE off other players trying to do missions. Took 7 hours yesterday to get 9 gigs worth patched and now I've been patching the stuff 6 other gigs of patches it tried to devote to the on demand patching so to be nice to fellow players and not taking up a slot to on demand patch something I want to play I'm probally going to not be able to play sto for a few weeks since its patched about 150 megs of the almost 6 gigs of patching in the last 4 hours. I first off wasn't going to spend any money on this game due to broken promises about the KDF. Second I was going to because in the last 3 months of all the disconnects I've recieved. Third now being a LTS player too we should have some priority on these patching issues and disconnect issues but unless I am going to write a check for a gazillion dollars to cryptic they could care less about the customer.

emindful of this (not in a negative way) Sever is around Boston. Which got nailed by a storm.

Now I had simillar issues even did the nettest, saw my ms was higher coming form Boston. Snice then Ive upgraded, my modem, router, and extender. (Not for the game, but overall).

Another tactic is the dns flush

run cmd, and then /ipconfig releash

    And then /ipconfig renew

That might help stop some of the lag, it might not.

    Hi All,

Since you were doing server maintenance yesterday I thought it would be important to let you know that I had gotten discconnected 6 times in 2 hours when map moving last night between 930est and 1030est. This usually doesn't happen but a once or twice a day.

if youre crashing to desktop, i would suggest running the game in safe mode. in the launcher screen before you log in from your desktop, there's an options link in the upper right corner sandwiched between support and release notes. click on it and then check safe mode. see if that works for you. if not, you can also do a force verify, even though it takes forever. try safe mode first though. good luck!

If it's dropping you while loading maps it could have something to do with downloading game assets. I was dropped between maps a couple times when my connection was acting up.

If you haven't already, I would suggest turning off on demand patching. Start the launcher and click options in the top right, check "disable on-demand patching". The game will do a large update, but you'll have every asset pre-downloaded and ready to go. Solved my problem anyways.

    Cheers

Anyone that says that it's not a PWE/Cryptic issue is seriously mistaken. Whenever I play fleet actions and/or STF's, I'm always getting disconnected. Whenever in normal play mode or during regular missions, the disconnect never happens.

I've checked with my IP and they checked my connection multiple times without having any internet disruption. THIS IS A CRYPTIC ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. Anyone that says it's your connection problem is fully of BS.

This needs to get fixed ASAP!

Now I've had no problems this morning playing Elite STFs with my Fleet mates...

And how can you say that its not your connection problem without posting your Trace Route and Net Test diagnostic results to back up this claim...

Both Diagnostics are described in this thread... http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=225155

...but enough Users-Postings in this Forum with this disconnecting-problem currently since a couple of Days...and no Answer from PWE to their consumers.
My Connection are so good as be overall....just STO has this bad "Connection".

PWE got enough tracerts from Users for this Error to locate the Defect.

EDIT: Tracert to patchserver.crypticstudios.com are fine.

With Trace Route, your results look generally OK, but...

Net Test is repeating the tests for the individual ports, which indicates something is cutting off the network connection (dropped packets somewhere along the route? Or a possible contention for port access on your machine?) And Net Test reports that something else is using your Network connection while Net Test itself was idle... You need to check to see what this 'something else' is, and if it could be causing your connection issues with your STO Client...

EDIT: Tracert to patchserver.crypticstudios.com are fine.
And if the Error indicates the issue is with a Trans-Atlantic Cable provider, that is clearly outside the control of Cryptic and PWE...(which is what most of the posted Trace Routes from Europe have been showing...) If you don't want to do anything that could help find a solution for your issue, thats fine, its your connection and your decision...

Seeing how this is from 2012 and people keep posting about it, like myself a week ago, it must be a server problem.

Those having issues, are you connecting via Steam?

I have been thinking of getting rid of STO's Steam affliation as it is stupid to have to have Steam running in order to play this game and have to log into to things to play it.

I have had connection issues for about 2 weeks. I get kicked when zoning, changing characters, or loggin on. Logging on also takes about 2 minutes. I have tried the different settings for proxy servers, safe mode, force verify, and on demand patching. I have also released my ip address. Here are my test results. Please help.

Your Trace Route is showing a issue with the Cogent Communication Boston Hub, a on-going issue that Cryptic/PWE has been fighting with since last December. You should post your trace route in this on-going PWE Tech Support thread so they can bring this up with Cogent and kick them a few more times... http://techsupport.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=4181

Your Net Test results shows that its repeating throughput tests for the ports, which indicates your connection to the diagnostic server (STO Servers aren't even in the picture here, this is strictly a Internet network connection test...) is being cut off, possibly due to dropped packets, and may be related to the hub congestion that the Trace Route is showing...

So besides posting in the PWE Tech Support thread, the only other thing you could try is to use the US Proxy option in the Launcher, which may shift you to a different connection path to the STO Servers, and may (or may not) give you better connections then what you have now... Keep in mind that using the US Proxy should be considered a temporary work around, as the direct connection to the STO Servers is the preferred one...

    Done.

I have tried running the US Proxy. I did not make a difference. Hopefully this gets resolved soon.

Annnnd disconnected again. Server not responding for 20 sec then back to the login screen.

I am really getting tired of this. I live in the US and if this is in the US I shouldn't be having so much problems.

I use Steam and have been thinking of changing due to the double login and forced to have Steam loaded while I play the game which is stupid.

You'd be surprised... Many US ISPs are reporting that over 60% of their total bandwidth is being taken up by Netflix streaming video connections. And since Internet routing rules give priority to streaming video connections, that doesn't leave much for more mundane data connections such MMRPG use.

You'd be surprised... Many US ISPs are reporting that over 60% of their total bandwidth is being taken up by Netflix streaming video connections. And since Internet routing rules give priority to streaming video connections, that doesn't leave much for more mundane data connections such MMRPG use.

It still doesn't matter as I play Eve Online, EQ II, WoT, Vanguard...and not one issue. I can stay logged in for days between Tuesday downtimes on EQ II outside of guildhalls and homes (since you are not auto logged out like here and other games if not in those instances).

It is obviously an issue with who ever Cryptic is using or their own server connections.

Ok seriously wtf? This happened long ago and it's still not fixed? I can't even finish a single mission without the server not responding and it kicking me out and not letting me log back in.
