Ive been using the EliteSTF channel for quite some time now and I dont have many complaints about it.
Ive been sent invites to 3 other private channels but have yet to check them out.
I agree that the channel needs mods but I must also point out that Ive seen some of the mods abuse their positions from time to time.
Moderation is a tool for keeping rules enforced and all mods should follow the same sets of guidelines for enforcing those rules.
Ive seen mods threaten mutes or bannings on players for simply disagreeing with them.
When one is a mod its important to remember that you are only there to enforce the rules and not to pass off your personal views has word law or gang up on someone that your friend has a problem with.
Stick to enforcing the rules and do your best to keep personal feelings out of your thought process when enforcing said rules and the channel will be a much better place for everyone.
Make sure to judge everyone equally and offer no special treatment to friends, selective moderation can be viewed has a dictatorship.
With time I hope that channel will get better and that this thread becomes worthy of being stickyed.
On the loot system:
I agree with others that we should only have a Need or Pass roll and nothing in between.

My only issue with Need or Pass and no greed is when we get fleets that are looking for 1 or 2 more.
The Need/Greed/Pass works perfectly when you are running with a group of people you know or with your fleet. Most groups I run with will greed on things like hypos unless they are running low, in which case they need and nobody has any problem.
My issue is that if Need/Pass becomes the norm in EliteSTF, groups/fleets who utilize the greed option with no problems will be stuck with an EliteSTF pug who is needing on things that the rest are greeding on.
Overall I agree that the system would be better with just a roll/pass or an option to configure this when starting a private match, but as long as the greed option is in-game, the norm in EliteSTF should be need/greed/pass.
Nothing is stopping anyone from instituting their own need/pass rules before the game. Many people already do and it works just fine.
It has come to my attention that some (only a small amount of people) have trouble following Rule 7.

hello is it possible for me to get a invite to the elite stf channel since the only optional i,m missing on my engineer toon is infected ground elite. i would like to have the helmet for my maco mk12 uniform. but every time i pug it optional failed for one one reason or another. i tried making a thread in the pve part of the forums only got one response. so i,m trying my luck here. feel free to send me a friend request would really love to get this last optional out of the way for the accolade.:)
Tilatra and his friends cannot silence the dissidence movement against the recent coup on EliteSTF. Two individuals cannot regulate and control the members of the channel without bias. I am a perfect example of this caveat. A member for more than three years, I was recently banned from EliteSTF because of my personal views and an incident where I disagreed with the channel moderators. I will not be silenced until this issue is resolved. Cyptic must intervene and create a global channel for elite stf runs.
I'm sure many of you know the channel "EliteSTF" This channel is one of the larger channels in STO.(3000 Members as of May 21, 2012) I am 1 of 2 channel admins of the channel (The owner hasnt been on STO in forever) So here are a few channel guidelines and some general information!

NO GRIEFING
NO ARGUING
KEEP RANDOM CHATTER TO A MINIMUM
KEEP INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE TO A MINIMUM
NO FLEET RECRUITMENT

During Vault event, only TWO people may recrute for Vault event teams at once!
During Crystaline Entity Event, Only ONE team is alowed to recrute for people for CE at once!
TRY to make sure no more then 5 people are recruiting for the same stf at once. (Theres no need for 7 people to all be recruiting for CSE at one time)
DO NOT ARGUE WITH THE CHANNEL MODS
NORMAL STFS ARE ALLOWED!
No Need/Greed Policy will be inplace, after you make your teams its up to you what to agree on for your teams rules. Do not complain about someone needing everything if you did not discuss a need greed policy with your team beforehand.
If you see someone trolling or someone is trolling or harrasing you, please send me a screenshot of the chat (Has to be related to EliteSTF channel, pictures of team chat will be ignored, PMs are allowed if it started off of EliteSTF, in which case ill need 2 screenshots, 1 of the start, 1 of the greifing, trolling etc. /screenshot_ui_jpeg is the command to get screenshots of your UI if u did not know)

Some sort of system for players to donate dilithium to a channel owner, that is what is needed when it goes this far. If Season 6 is a success, your post is going to get big attention and be very busy.
You need credits for doing that I reckon. Your channel is a service. Players donate for foundry missions so why not a channel that never cools down.
I just hope your post on here does not create an impossible job for you guys to manage the channel. If it even got close to that, I would say Cryptic needs to adopt the channel and staff it. In 2 years, it is the most useful channel I have used and critical to a good Elite STF experience.
Unless Cryptic plan another system to bring elite players together based on accolades etc but I highly doubt it, at least not in Season 6.
Umm...Golbezz, it was more than just one incident. And according from what I've heard and seen, you have annoyed many players in the channel. You were warned more than just 1 time. Tilarta did his part. He is not a power hungry person at all. Far from it. You have been calling out his name on the zone chat which makes you look real bad. We don't need people like you around annoying people in the channel. Harassing Tilarta around, that's not the correct way to try fix the issue here. It tells a lot about you. So drop it, wise up, and move on.

I think some clarification on the Need/Greed/Pass system is required.
Of course a Roll/Pass system would be best but only Cryptic can change that. . . perhaps we should petition for that option.
Whilst its true that the channel has no set "rule" on the issue the facts as I see them are as follows:
- In 90% of matches there is no rules laid down by the team leader in the chat before hand. If they do then all well and good but it rarely happens.
- In 100% of these almost everyone assumes the following.
Pass - On what you don't want
Greed - On normal loot
Need - ON EDC's, Tech, Salvage and high level purples.
- People get ****ed off at "Needers" seeing as their personal rules conflict with 99% of peoples.
So given that all this goes on, why not make the scheme outlined above "official".
If people still want agree different schemes before hand then all good.
Until/If there is an official policy I think I'm gonna clarify every match from now on.

Except I hit the Need button by Mistake. . . . and got everything, and received much (deserved) abuse.
Anyway I think I managed to square myself with most of the team, I distributed the loot via trades to 2 out of the 4 people, 1 said he didn't want any but the last person had ignored me already.
So once again apologies to the team I was with and a small plee not to ignore someone on the 1st offence before they have a chance to explain themselves.

To get back on to the Need, Greed or Pass system, I normally follow the standard Need on EDC, Rare and Proto Borg Salvage and Purples, Greed on the Rare junk and pass on useless junk.
From time to time Ill end up grouping with players that will Need on everything and not respond at all when others call them on it and asks them to stop.
I have not seen to many loot snipers lately but they are still out there.
A roll or pass option would be great and would put an end to any and all loot snipers and Need or Greed threads.
I fail to understand how a member since wtf some how grants someone with superior knowledge and/or talent. Considering I was in the military for some years I can vouch that some of my fellow military members, even though they had served more years then most still couldn't pour **** out of a boot with the instructions printed on the bottom of it. Just my outlook on things.... so calling someone a noob just because they haven't been a member as long goes to the overall issue of the channel.... its about Quality and not the quantity:rolleyes:

I think that's another issue Cryptic has to examine in detail.
No matter where you move that text notification window or how much you minimize it, it still fills a significant portion of the screen with spam.
If there's a lot of items being picked up, it can possibly cover up the need/greed dialogue button and you can't see what you're clicking!
Because it's tell you who is rolling need, who is rolling greed, who is passing, what their roll is, who won the roll.
With 5 players, that can be quite overwhelming!
Especially when you get the Optional loot bag with 4-5 items in it and everyone is deciding what to roll!
I think it's time Cryptic gave us the option to "Hide" this notification window to clear the text spam!
Oh by the way, EliteSTF hasn't been around for 2 years!

This is day 5 of my protest against the recent authoritative power grabbing by a few over so many. As a consequence of my activism, I have been banned from EliteSTF. A member for over 3 years, this arbitrary action by a few individuals has sparked a social struggle! I will continue my effort to deregulate the channel and push for the creation of an open global elite STF channel that is not operated by biased individuals. Join my call for justice. Peace.
I am still entertained by these two kids being so obsessed with stalking a channel that has absolutely nothing to do with them at all.
But, alas, on a good note - the parts for my liquid cooling arrive back tonight, so I should be back after being off the game for a week. Looking forward to getting back into the STFs again - especially now that the channel has been cleaned up somewhat
