Nothing against carriers. But idiotic pets should be removed from game. Danoobe is excellent example of that.
"Cryptic Studio’s Jack Emmert (2010): Microtransactions are the biggest bunch of nonsense. I like paying one fee and not worrying about it – like my cellphone. The world’s biggest MMO isn’t item based, even though the black market item GDP is bigger than Russia … microtransactions make me want to die.”
You can spam danoobes faster than you can kill them. They are not peregrines that die in few hits. I really like my Akira, but I refuse to use such idiotic pet.

It is said there are tools equipped on most starships to remove fighters from the game. They carry names like "beam array", "turret" or "torpedo spread".
Awwwwwww! That's so cute!
Good thing Fer'jai Frigates have 31k Hull. :P

Thanks for the post, Sophlogimo, it's always great when professional players take their time out to lend us peons a hand. I'm wondering, though, what skill best counters the interminable stuttering lag that your kittybox barfs onto my computer's CPU? Bear in mind that I've already tried lowering the resolution and turning off HUD elements...
As you can imagine I think it's a little unfair that these spam cartons get a leg-up because I can't hit the few counter buttons I have in time.
so i was fighting this akira, and he had runabouts of course, but i had faw2! it didn't even kill any of them, and i had at least APA on. thats some bull****, that should be more then enough to give you some breathing room, before a fresh launch

The best counter sadly is a P2W console, phaser point defence system. That stuff has +25 accuracy and 10x dmg to fighters, so it makes quick work with all trash up to 5km.

From my experience, it does poor job at clearing shuttles/frigates. I keep it as offensive weapon.

Sadly the Runabouts at least appear to have been buffed at some point, I can't remember their exact hitpoint values but they're tough little nuggets. The Tholian spamlets are about on par in my experience as well. Says a lot that these things became more durable while carrier DOffs were released with no corresponding balance to offset the DOff bonuses, it's almost like Cryptic wants to pander to their 2,500 Zen purchasing playerbase
I've made my peace with carriers at this point, I still think they're stupid (the idea of using Danubes as dedicated single-man fighters is absolutely baffling, let alone contrary to Fed ethics) and detrimental to the game but people buy thousands of them so I doubt Cryptic is going to backpedal over it.
I use a armitage, but I cant seem to get the DPS out of cannon that I should. This causes me to continualy switch between cannon and beams. I do use Tricobalt Mines in both PvP and PvE any tips or suggestions for me?

When I use my Armatige, the first thing I think about is how the turn rate is similar to the Patrol Escort. Usually requires abit more finesse to get the cannons to aim foward properly. Alot of the time I have to stay in reverse, constantly shuffling foward and reverse to avoid the reverse power drain.
Tractor Beams can help, as can Eject Warp Plasma 1. My usual build with it has the following:
2x DHC, 2x Plasma torpedoes Fore
2x Turret, 1x Plasma Mine. I use Torpedo Spread 3 and Rapid fire 3 (I think, I might be wrong and it might be Omega 3 and rapid Fire 1) The reason for Torpedo Spread 3, is it, when combined with a Tactical inititave timed right with the Torpedo Point DefensE console, and tac damage buffs, it can be an extremly effective Alpha Strike. In one volley, when on a specific target, I've dropped a players hull to 50% from such an alpha strike when at full shields.
And lastly, the Armitage is NOT the best of turn rate Escorts. It is almost the equivilant to the KDF Tier 5 Raptor in the way that it turns. So reverse can be helpful when trying to line up and stay on targets. If you want a faster and more maneuverable ship, I hate to suggest this, but go with the Jem'hadar Attack ship (if you can get one).
You think that your beta test was bad?

I love the Armitage and the Akira its just simple using another ship seems sacrilegious now. though I might try the new science cruiser carrier thingy they have coming out. I'm just a carrier/ support summoner. I like being a necromancer summoning armies and such is just so cool. I'm saving up for the new sci carrier cruiser Vest thingy coming out. (love the fact that they are using something from Novels)
Also Ive begun trying a new load-out
fore: 1 DB, 2 SC, 1 Torp (undecided still experimenting)
rear: 2 turrets, 1 mine (tricobalt most likely)
this seems to balance turn rate weakness with versatility and better DPs
but I must ask has anyone tried a single cannon fore and single beam rear load-out it has better Dps the all beam and possibly better Dps then using rear turrets. with an escort that can keep enemies on the small fore and rear arc that is 45 degrees forward of a perpendicular to your ship.
When looking at the Romulan Faction for the Reputation rewards, first thing I noticed was the fact that you can get hanger pets. Scorpion fighters.
The Rare ones seemed like a nice thing to get.. A little pricy in the dilithium and Romulan mark cost.. But do able.
They come with Plasma Pulse cannons and a Plasma Torpedo. Which is kinda cute.
The Very Rare Tier 3 varients how ever...
Cost 120 Romulan Marks, 24,000 Dilithium, 2 Peregrine fighters, 20 warp coils, and 20 Engineering or Operations Doffs
And with those they give the Scorpion fighters..
Dual Plasma Cannons..
That's it....
Not a Rapid Fire.. or maybe a high yield 1 or Spread 1 for the Torps.. A Dual Plasma Cannon..
Really?
Really?!
My advice to Carrier pilots might be if you have the funds and you REALLY want those pets.. go for it. Other wise, in PVP, skip them. They aren't worth the cost of admission.

Wow that's underwhelming. I found that when given the "Release the hounds!" command the blues will stack torp dots pretty quickly. Aside from that I thought they functioned as I wish all pets did, meaning they are easily destroyed.
IIRC back in the day your consoles were supposed to affect your pets' damage. Are you finding that is still the case?
_______________ CommanderDonatra@Capt.Sisko: ahhh is it supposed to do that? Norvo Tigan@dontdrunkimshoot: hell ya, maybe
Greetings all! I know this is abit of a long hiatus from the thread. But nothing new really has come about for Carriers.. until now.
Cryptic reciently Released the newest Carrier to the Carrier Family, the Jem'Hadar Dreadnaught Carrier.
It comes preloaded With 2 new Carrier pets exclusive to the JHDC, Jem'hadar Attack fighters. The Fighters have DEM 1, and you can buy the upgraded versions that come with an Extra Polaron Dual cannon and DEM 2.
IF you own a Jem'hadar Attack ship as well, you can get the special JHAS pets for the carrier. And the powers those things come with is insane! Unfortunately, I don't own a JHAS, so I can't tell you how effective those would be in PVP..
The Ship it's self... Turns about the same, only SLIGHTLY faster then the Recluse, and Marginarly Faster then the Atrox/Vor'quv with it's base 6 Turn rate.
It's lay out is also different from any other Carrier so far, in that it's Focused on Tac instead of Science with a Cmd Tac, Lt Tac, Ltc Engi, Ensign Sci, and a Lt Universal.
The ship, how ever, I would keep away from a Tactical officer's hands. This is NO Kar'fi! It doesn't really have the turn rate of the Kar'fi. Which will reduce it's survivability. And you would obviously be limited to a Lt Sci, so you'd have Escort class and Cruiser class healing capabilities.
The Special Console it comes with is also very unique. You target an enemy with it, and it will then display on that enemy, which Subsystem has been deemed "Vulnerable" After you do enough damage, it will then completely disable that subsystem for 4 seconds. And reduce the Defense by about 16% and Damage resistance on the target by 20. And best of all, the console is apart of a set. So if you get the other Jem'hadar Escort Carrier and use it's console together, you can get a buff to Accuracy and Defense for 15 seconds.
If you must take this ship into PVP, Remember, don't use a tactical officer with it. Or if you have to, try to remember this IS A carrier. And it does NOT turn like a Kar'fi. So keep the DHC's off this ship. Or if you must, limit it to 2 DHC's Perhaps a lay out like this, for an all energy Build:
2 Single Cannons, 2 DHC's Fore, 3 Turret Aft.
Other wise go with Single Beam Arrays which is nice to use with it's innate Target Subsystem abilities, or Torpedoes and Mines for a Damage set up.
How ever it is still a very slow turning ship. So buyer beware!
You'll probably also be using Danube Shuttles with this ship just for the Tractor Beam spam.
So let's review..
Jem'hadar Dreadnaught Carrier is a Carrier. Which is not a friendly place for Tactical officers. Especially with the Set up this ship carries.
If you have all 3 Jem'hadar ships, you get new Pets, and 2 New Consoles to use on this ship, or you can use both of the new consoles on any of the other new ships.
Don't use DHC's unless your using a specialized build and know how to keep your front arc on a target.
That's all I have for you right now. Good luck, and happy spaming.

It stop being the worst ship when the Failquarius was released.
And no matter what you say, the JH Dreadnought still beats the Failquarius.
i could easily kill the jem carrier with ether falaxy or failquarius, no question. that thing has so little defensively to fall back on it couldn't tank anything for long, and it is capable of 0 speed or avoidance tanking like any other ship with that many tactical stations
Since it's basically the Vor'quv but with more Engi then Sci, nothing really changes. It just gives it more support abilities from the Engineering side of things. Not that it really needed it. But they are nice to haves.

I'd have to say I nearly agree with this.
The Dreadnaught Carrier just does not have enough defensive abilities to support it. Now if the Lt Tac would have instead been an Lt Sci, leaving the Universal to be anything would have been an improvement and given it at least better ways to survive.
I'd love to take the Kar'fi's turn rate and slap it onto that ship, because then it would be a better ship. But with that low turn rate it hurts it more then it helps.
IF I were to use this ship, with anything other then an Engi, the following is a possible on how I would run it.
Cmd Tac: Tac Team 1, Beam Overload 2 or FAW 2, Attack Pattern Omega 1, Attack Pattern Delta 3
Lt Tac: Tac team 1, Faw 2 or Beam Overload 2
LtC Engi: Engi team 1 or EptS 1, EptS 2, Aux to sif 2 or RSP 2
Ensign Sci: Polarized hull 1
Lt Universal (Sci): Hazard Emitters 1, Transfer Shield strength 2
Attack Pattern Delta 3 gives you some Resistance for a few seconds when coupled with Polarized Hull to help you at least resist some of the incoming damage. While Attack Pattern Omega 1 gives you a much needed Speed and Turn increase along with some extra resists. And let's face it. Most Carriers can't run at full speed all the time like an Escort. Oh and if you don't have the device from the Dividian series, get it. Short of getting locked into a Tholian's web, it will give you an extra amount of Resists. And a little defense. Which can't hurt.
Transfer shield Strength 2 and EPtS 2 should give you some shield healing capabilities. You could change out the RSP 2 to an EptS 3 and change the EptS 2 into either RSP 1 or Aux to sif 1.
A good DPS escort how ever is still going to park on your butt and give plenty of DPS. Not to mention the shield striping capabilities of the Concentrated Tachyon Mines that some seem to carry. To be honest, I don't even know if a Sci could make proper use of this carrier.
Again it's not that the ship is BAD.. just that there is not a lot going for it to make it PVP Viable all the time.
You think that your beta test was bad?

the mirror Vor'quv may have the best carrier station setup yet. the recluse would still be a better healer though, but for more then just healer duty i like what i see in the mirror Vor
Either that, or have given it the Kar'fi's Cruiser based Turn rate. Wouldn't bother me if that ment taking away the Dreadnaught's Target Subsystem ability, but eh.. win some lose some.
You think that your beta test was bad?

My eng has been doing good with the mirror Voq'uv in pvp and pve, great buy and not to expensive so try it out.
As for the Jem Dreadnought, I don't have or want one but from what I have seen so far people are doing ok in pve with it, but it is failing miserably in pvp. A good eng should be able to tank one person for a long time, but all the people I have seen in this, mostly eng have popped quickly to my Fleet Defiant and Fleet Hoh'sus with no help. Do not use this ship in pvp, or get ready to see the respawn button a lot. This ship should be a priority target as it can do decent damage if left alone, but easy kill and can't escape or heal much.
