5 wrong on two occasions now...it adds up. That said, I'm done the rep so I really don't need to care anymore. Still do though, it's just shameful that adding crafting mats to this queue has taken to it from finishing with a perfect score more often than not to how it is now. Why do people have to be so damn impatient? They're not even saving a lot of time.
I've done that mission so much that for all except one of them (because I never get to do it!) I've memorized all the answers, so it's unnecessary for me to do so and I can just skip to asking the questions.
But I assume it's just laziness, they don't care whether what they say is right or wrong, they just want to skip all that and go directly to the fighting.
I've seen it on occasion that a lone player is so eager to jump to the fighting, they spawn the boss all by themselves when the rest of the team is spread out all over the map.
I got a good laugh out of it once though, the Boss curbstomped Mr L.Jenkins while I was standing nearby before I even got a chance to move!
Terradrome was infamous for this as well, some idiot would get impatient with the coin flip test and just start randomly scanning people.
Cue the massive attack of enraged 8472 later on as a result and one lost optional objective.

Well, it isn't difficult to memorise the answers. For me, I want to get to them all first so that I can guarantee myself some Marks rather than relying on others - want a job done properly...
Almost every time I do Khitomer Vortex, The person who determines the fate of the STF Is ME! I fly a assault cruiser and the thing starts. We all go for the tac cube the everyone goes for the conduits and that leaves me to go for the probes, I make sure not one probe reaches the vortex without being destroyed (harder than it sounds). One conduit down, they work on the other conduit, still no backup. But when the spheres come I finally get backup. This happens EVERY TIME.
My longest STF was when I did Khitomer in stasis for the first time. It was with four women (in-game & in real life) who were also first-timers at this STF. One player didn't have a frequency remodulator but had a sword, I had a antiproton high density rifle, one had a maco rifle, and the rest had non-rep items (tetryon, Jemhadar, plasma) the thing lasted two hours because we didn't know where to go. At least we knocked out Tosk in 20 seconds, and I got to get in the imr and got the Borg boff. That was actually the one I had the best time in.

And my worst one was cure I was with Three oddys and a galaxyx, I had to work on the nodes while those guys worked on kang. My assault cruiser is no match for a cube and I got really steamed at the other players and we got into a argument and I was guessing they were trying to not scratch the paint on their pretty white tanks. I bailed and did conduit instead. Those *******s

Post your build, my Star Cruiser can take 4 normal Cubes at once, and a high quality ACR should be able to eat my Star Cruiser like Minimax vapes Feds.
Had one of those players you just feel sad for in a CSE the other day: Tal Shiar Battlecruiser that had no idea how to actually fly their ship: parked in range of the cube firing, never rebalanced shields, got destroyed a couple times and ended up quitting before the first cube was even done.
Most of the time it's not "Do our way" but still "Do your own way but still be useful". If you have thoughtful build you can contribute to team as heal, CC or tank (if you can keep aggro). But sorry if someone goes for Elite missions, for example KASE and can't kill or any other way stop single probe from entering the Vortex then something is wrong with him/her.
Don't let that whole dps channel TRIBBLE, pull you into wanting to join.
The necessity of such a channel, is redundant!
I mean if you really have to punish someone, just because their dps doesn't suite their desires, than it clearly shows how they think.

No, its like getting into a team, and later on droping out because your performance isnt good enough to stay on the team. You can then either get back to how your performance was once, or just leave it be.
But its not like I dont enjoy your hate. Its unfounded, but appreciated.

Bad analogy, more like being kicked off a team, because you decide you don't want to perform, to said team's standards, and not your own.

At the moment you join team mission you end playing by only your standards. You start playing by team play standards and those are simple: your performance must be useful for team work (it don't have to be DPS, you can contribute by heal, CC, tank) as long as you do that it's OK. But if "your standards" can't do any of those then sorry but you are just a leach not team player.
I just ended 4-men Infected Space Elite with 5-men team. The fifth player in Gal-X was doing literally 845 DPS, no team healing, no CC, no tanking, nothing to help team complete mission. He could even take care of single sphere 1vs1. His/her standards maybe enough for him/her but their're not enough for team play standards. Honestly he/she contribute nothing to mission and get reward for 4 other people work.

this is a GAME, there are no societal standards unless it's you and several others who think the same way. then it's a small society. realize some people play this for fun, shocker eh? :O
they can be trolls, RP'ers, dentists, etc. only interested in ruining others players fun, or only concerned with their fun. said this in another thread, solo stf's should be a thing, with the crafting rewards. right now thanks to cryptics amazing talent for allowing griefers new ways to TRIBBLE with people, and newbs who want to craft higher tier items, estf's are required now.
think about that the next time you pug, maybe that no damage output ship over there is just in it for mats. and thank cryptic for that.
i suppose i should add something on topic...miranda and his 2 friends in hive, me and the other serious guy had enough firepower and survival abilities to get through the first part...so all 3 l bailed. guess since neither of us was ranting about the low tier ships it ruined their fun so they left.
at the end of the day it's just a game though. and it was kind of funny counting how many times the mirandas died from aoe's and incidental hits. think a couple of times a sphere just gave them a dirty look and they exploded >.<

How I love that argument "It'a game so I can be an *******" no you not, as long as you play with real people and at least minimal social standards should be maintained. No matter if it in real or virtual, it is another social interaction in live.
Just "tried" to run CCE to get a shard for today but failed it miserably, possibly the worst mission/stf/event I've ever played through.
I was only in a mirror escort so wasn't expecting to do too well, but over the last 3 days I've come top 3 several times with the same ship so it is viable.
Started off poorly, tried to grav well the Tholians but instantly the CE decides i'm the biggest threat and i spend the whole time being one-shoted by its anti-proton beam thingy. Must have stacked up about 10+ injuries.
Then once i've had enough of that i take a back seat to loose some aggro which i seem to be stacking sky high by this stage. No idea why i'm taking all the aggro compared to the cruisers spamming FAW all over the place, evidently i must have been doing a lot more dps than anything else despite using an under powered ship.
Problem with taking a step back was that evidently i was the only one killing the large & small shards.
So as the mission goes on we get it down to about 12% health but by now there must by 20+ big shards chasing us all down and hundreds of little ones from the cruisers tanking the hits from the big ones.
Basically it's got such high damage resistance now that we can't hurt it, half the players quit leaving only 4 guys on my team. It starts to heal itself and is soon back up to 36%.
It's almost impossible to solo the thing in a tiny escort, I was getting chased by all the larger shards and trying to shoots the CE itself to cause damage to it.
Eventually had to quit as it was obvious that with only 2 players left (me and an Obelisk) there was no way to beat it.
How I love that argument "It'a game so I can be an *******" no you not, as long as you play with real people and at least minimal social standards should be maintained. No matter if it in real or virtual, it is another social interaction in live.
in an ideal world, this isn't one. raging at trolls just makes them happy. the second part of my post, where we ignored the obvious trolls bothered them, reverse trolling. they want you to rage, comment, do something to acknowledge their grade school antics when you don't it bothers them.
as to social interaction...is it acceptable social interaction to kill people? (PvP) no, it's not, so the fact that this IS a game matters. the health of the community of a game is directly related to how well the game is run excluding PvP only mmo's since they tend to have a toxic community no matter what.
frustration at how the game is run, unfixed bugs and glitches...and then add players with the mentality of 3 year olds. they get frustrated at things in the game, and troll other players as a result. 'if i'm dissatisfied/irritated then everyone else will be too'.
yeah it still comes down to people being children, but cryptics mishandling of a lot of things doesn't help, only promotes more trollery. and this is the thread that shows that, one of the only reasons i even visit this thread.
to check the health of the games community. it's on life support
i've had more trolls since i've come back in pugs than i had the entire time i played before in these last few months. bad luck? possible. but keeping in mind that this is a game keeps the irritation at bay. if you get angry at a game, you're doing it wrong. (unless you like being angry) the whole point of games is a relaxing, enjoyable thing to do to relieve stress or just have FUN.
very few if any people are going to do what you want, learn to live with it or give up on mmo's.
i have really got to learn to not make walls-o-text...someday

Not exactly, even that little bit contributes.
It just means the others, need pick up the slack for other.
But you can be a 845dps rating, and still offer up a viable team build, just like you example of a healer, CC, Floating target tank!
But like I originally stated, none of that matters to the dps channels, only dps!
Sure, it contributes, but 845 in ISE is low. Real low. Really really really low. To the point that you have to be doing something very nonsensical with your build to achieve it, or flying a t1 ship (and even t1s can pull more than that). A build with that low of numbers needs a serious rework. That's not meant to be insulting. Players with a number like that just need some help with their builds, not people to make fun of them or people to defend them.
I don't care about the high DPS game, but as an example: My D'Kyr built for looks running X-XI rare gear on a fresh level 50 character with no rep traits parsed over twice that playing a support role: CC and throwing heals, with my arrays and torps just set to auto-fire. That just shows how much better that Gal-X could be with a rework, if a ship not even intentionally trying for damage is outdamaging it.
Damage isn't everything, but that number is saying a whole lot more than "low damage". It's showing a fundamental lack of knowledge about how to build a ship.
But you can be a 845dps rating, and still offer up a viable team build, just like you example of a healer, CC, Floating target tank!
I knew you were a bit deluded, but I am amazed of the extent.
Someone who does less then 1k dps wont have enough braincapacity to build a CC, Healer or Tank (tank is also tied to dps for aggro) and even if you give him the build, he wont be able to use it efficiently.
There is no reason someone would do less than 5k dps after having a rough understanding of mechanics. A healer, a CC, a Tank (though a tank might get in trouble holding aggro with just that), all of them dont exclude dps. They limit it, but 5k is something a fresh lv50 char on a nebula could do and that is one of the ships that automatically provides CC or heal or both.
And we are talking about ELITE STF, even if they can be soloed at the moment, you shouldnt let the team drag you through. I dont know how ppl can like to be dependend on others solely. Not as symbiosys or teamwork, no, just as a parasiting leech, contributing nothing, no heal, no cc, no dps. And that is reality: Most pugs do neither.

A tank in pvp does not consist mainly of he/she, doing the highest dps, so sorry that retains only to pve, and it isn't even 100% in pve.
A healer, or tank focused only on heals, can in fact inflict poor dps, do to a heavy focus on shield/auxiliary power only.
So while it is extremely low dps, it doesn't mean they are not a viable build, or are not able to contribute to a team.
So you might want to reconsider, your comment on them having low brain capacity, the next time someone is your primary healer in pvp, or goes in to act as the primary cannon fodder tank, because they may just leave you high and dry, than who has the low brain capacity?
Even basic crowd control does more DPS than that. Grav well does indeed cause damage to be inflicted on targets in/near the center. Tractor beam repulsors do a lot as well. Just about anything that uses the particle generator skill points that a Sci invests will cause damage.
And during an ENTIRE ISE run, to only have done 500 dps? That's not even using your sci skills. That's just doing almost nothing. I'm sorry but there are some basic requirements for ESTFs and that doesn't even pretend to come close!

The notion of doing 500dps, and being of no use wasn't intended for a pve scenario in my comments.
It was depicting, how someone can focus on aiding the team in some other manner, yet still being a viable team ally.
But too many people, assume dps is all anyone should do!
Heck who needs a CC/healer in pvp, just escort them all, or better yet cruiser BFAW everything right!
Because even a Sci captain in pvp, should focus only on dps, nothing else am I right?
Also remember, sometimes not all dps is recorded by 1 parser that I know of, if they are out a specific range!

I'm all for being able to fly your own style and do what you like, but I don't agree here. You're not contributing. You're hurting, and then making up for it by throwing heals around.
Scenario 1: A team of balanced ships don't do great DPS but combined the average is enough to accomplish a goal under withering fire by NPCs in 3 minutes. This works out since the ships can only tank the incoming fire for 4 minutes.
Scenario 2: A team of 4 balanced ships is dragged down by 1 ship doing no damage at all. The time to complete is now 6 minutes, which is 50% past their ability to survive the mission. The ship doing no damage whatsoever DOES in fact throw heals out -- but these heals would never be needed if the enemy were simply destroyed on time and removed from the equation entirely. The healer justifies his lack of damage by saying he's a "healer" -- when in fact he created the situation in the first place that required a healer.
Scenario 1 is clearly more team oriented, more teamwork oriented, more efficient, more practical, and overall just plain good. Scenario 2 is a painful quagmire where 4 people are dragged down and literally carry an unhelpful 5th teammate across the finish line, whereby the unhelpful and uncapable teammate earns full rewards.
Now, clearly there are all sorts of builds, and some are more effective than others and some get along swimmingly with others. You can have any number of near-infinite combinations in a team, or you can have a surreal near-identical setup. Plenty can happen where you still pull your own weight in your own way, and help out.
Doing 500 dps is not. You're dead weight. You ought not be in Elite STFs, PERIOD. Get your act together and when you want to do Elites come back. Until then stick to normals.

You forgot scenario 3: In which case 1 30k dps ship, kills everything solo, therefore not needing the other 4 team members at all, so in actuality their dps is of no consequence to completion, only how fast, but even that is of no real concern, with how fast they could solo in the first place (seconds to mere 1-2mins).
If you're are doing under 1k dps at level 50 on any T5 ship, you either have no idea what the hell consoles, boffs, traits, and skills are, or are purposely being bad. Regardless of whatever scenarios, you have to try to have dps that low. 845 dps is about as much or less than I do with one turret, iirc.

"Post your worst STF experience" seems to me like a 100% pve-thread. I am also only discussing pve-missions, as I consider pvp in this game a waste of time.
But If you go in pvp with a premade, the roles are defined and very clear. If you go with a pug, well, teambalance goes normally down the hill. But since I know pvp, I wont comment a healer for having. Not in pvp. PvP is maximizing his/her role. So everything thats not his role can be excluded.
But its different in pve. You dont have to use any slot you have for heals (or such) or situative consoles. You dont need the last 5% heal in pve.
If you go healer or high aux and dont use the vesta. use a torpedoboat. Sure, it has difficulties with shields, but for pve thats not a problem and is quite devastating if you use it with GW,TR and such.
So the comment stands, as its made for PvE.
That aside, as dps is decreased by dying, a good dps-player will be all in a pug: DD,Healer and Tank. So this is basically a whole team. I have tons of logs indicating this.
And lets be honest: At the end of the day its damage that gets the job done. And the more damage the faster its done.

Well, I never said they weren't focused on doing little dps!
Because they could be trolling a match, simply too lazy to contribute, not being recorded by a certain parser, not actively engaging enemies, but instead focused on keeping the team alive, might not be at the helm, due to a billion different reasons, etc.
I am just stating that their dps rating, doesn't mean a team cannot accomplish anything, and they can still possibly contribute in some way, other than pew pew pewing everything!
Provided they are actually doing something, besides trolling/leeching/sleeping a match!
Going into a Hive STF Elite with four of my fleet mates. Everyone was built to handle borg, we had pulled out all our old pre-reputation Mk XII [BORG] weapons, maxed out every console we could, as this was when the 'fix' supposedly happened on the mission to make it less ridiculous to try. Frankly we had all be bored with the other STF missions and wanted a change of pace.
Five minutes in we had all changed our minds. Almost immediately one of our group lagged out, and between him coming back a noob of the highest rainbow boat order went in non-lubbed and elbow deep. He was promptly crushed by everything twice before he noobishly ran with his tail between his legs leaving the original five of us as our friend rejoined a minute later to face all of the cubes and the guards. What follows made me wonder just what the hell the Defiant was made out of in the show because flying a fleet escort set up to do battle against the Borg found systems failing everywhere as the ship was ripped apart in under a minute every time, I found the upper respawn timer limit, learned there was no limit to how much damage a ship can take, and that when we finally killed off the cubes the duo TRIBBLE of space still had a 360 degree 47KM range of one shot doom.
after 83 deaths later, my friends decide I should give up.

they can be trolls, RP'ers, dentists, etc. only interested in ruining others players fun, or only concerned with their fun. said this in another thread, solo stf's should be a thing, with the crafting rewards. right now thanks to cryptics amazing talent for allowing griefers new ways to TRIBBLE with people, and newbs who want to craft higher tier items, estf's are required now.
think about that the next time you pug, maybe that no damage output ship over there is just in it for mats. and thank cryptic for that.
i suppose i should add something on topic...miranda and his 2 friends in hive, me and the other serious guy had enough firepower and survival abilities to get through the first part...so all 3 l bailed. guess since neither of us was ranting about the low tier ships it ruined their fun so they left.
at the end of the day it's just a game though. and it was kind of funny counting how many times the mirandas died from aoe's and incidental hits. think a couple of times a sphere just gave them a dirty look and they exploded >.<

Eventually had to quit as it was obvious that with only 2 players left (me and an Obelisk) there was no way to beat it.
in an ideal world, this isn't one. raging at trolls just makes them happy. the second part of my post, where we ignored the obvious trolls bothered them, reverse trolling. they want you to rage, comment, do something to acknowledge their grade school antics when you don't it bothers them.
as to social interaction...is it acceptable social interaction to kill people?

And during an ENTIRE ISE run, to only have done 500 dps? That's not even using your sci skills. That's just doing almost nothing. I'm sorry but there are some basic requirements for ESTFs and that doesn't even pretend to come close!
This is my response.
I can do more than 1k DPS in a tier 1 connie with MK X blue gear.
In fact, I am INCAPABLE of doing less than 1k DPS on any ship I've ever flown at level 50 without AFKing outright.
Let's see...to get that little damage with a basic gal-X...
That means not using hangar pets, using factory gear at BEST, no consoles, no traits, probably no skills...
I mean, if you lack even the IQ to get boffs and slot them, I assume that's possible. But it's still freakishly low DPS.

Praetor of the -RTS- Romulan Tal Shiar fleet!
