Regardless, I don't like those kind of people, I'm not tolerant of any group or individual that forces you to adopt a specific build setup regardless of what you may want to do.
I've seen this kindof behavior in so many mmos (do it our way. you aren't doing it our way? flamewar on!), my response is to instantly get annoyed with these people.
u dont have to fly a specific build to do 10k dps in ise. noone forces u to do anything u dont want to do but if u let the probes pass, well, anyboy would get mad cause u just let the probes pass man!
its not about ur build or smth, its about the mission requirements and those are "dont let probes pass for optional" and most ppl want the optional. 10k 20k 30k 40k or 0k, everybody gets mad if someone lets the probes pass ^^
and 10k etc are not an elitist group, for me e.g. its a place where i can find competent and skilled ppl to fly/run missions with. anybody can join if he meets the requirements and as in sto everything is solved via damage (thanks to cryptic and not some "elitits"), the requirement is a certain amount of dps. nothing elitist about that
Well, the main reason I am avoiding them is I'm not a high DPSer and I know that, since whenever I've done a parsed run and the figures are given, I'm dead last everytime!
I don't know why that is, nor do I care about having high DPS.
But just out of academic curiosity, I expect it's because I don't use certain weapons/mods or the skills to augment them.
Since I'm a fan of beam arrays, I'm assuming not using dual cannons is one reason.
My ships are normally geared towards engineering skills for the most part, to survive a prolonged battle.
And if they're got universal stations, I normally use them for more engineering skills.
I also prefer using Gravity Well I to trap Nanite Spheres, Probes, enemies heading for the Kang and so on.
Not all of my ships have that ability, but some do.
Bees like honey, they don't like vinegar.
Everytime someone makes a character that is an copy of an existing superhuman, Creativity is sad
as long as u are having fun and finish the stfs with optionals its all good, doesnt matter where u stand with dps, thats always been my opinion
if you want to deal more damage, there are many ppl that can give u some pointers where u could improve ur build without sacrificing what makes if fun for u to play. but be careful, there are also those who WILL tell u bs about certain things, especially in this forum, many strange ppl around... ^^
thats what the dps-channels are very good for: u can almost be certain that there is qualified personnel around to give pointers and advice when asked
u could start by entering the DPS-Public channel, its kinda the spawning pool for all the dps-channels
I had a rubbish STF today, definitely my worst. At least I conpleted my MVP-pug-in-T2-Connie ISE...
Took my Klingon into UIE. With basic green/blue Mk IV/VI equipment because I forgot to upgrade it first. (at least I was using a Mk XII Anti-Undine Pulsewave gun...)
First part goes just fine, but one guy quits right at the start.
Then we get to the Undine fighting part. turns out one person was AFKing, so we had 3 people, one of whom was still using Mk IV/VI equipment. By the time we actually realised the other guy was AFKing on us, we had almost 3 manned UIE, just the Infiltrator to go. Trouble is, turning up with Mk IV/VI gear on a fresh 50 means you are just about ok - once you get injured its rather different, and the Undine dragged us down until we all had a total mess of injuries.
Eventually, the other two figured we couldn't do it, and quit. I stayed around for one more attempt, then quitted.
Moral of the story - don't pug Elite missions with Mk IV/VI gear...
Just done KSE and I thought it was going well until me and my pal in a Xindi carrier who are on the right realise that the 3 guys left are ignoring the probes and trying for some sort of "see who gets killed by the gate most" contest.
Too late by the time we realise, I rush over to try and stop the first 2 probes they ignored but they warp out literally as my final volley is firing.
Aside from that it went pretty well and we finished the rest in short order.
I'm just amazed that players still mess things up of these STFs, its not like they got overwhelmed or something, they just plain ignored the mission!
Then later on i ran CSE which went much better despite me getting blown in the first few mins as i got hit with an invisitorp of death from a cube.
Got my own back with a succession of 3 crits from HY bio torps, all over 75K. The cubes weren't laughing then!
Sry, but its the fault of the one with inferior gear to go into an ELITE mission. MK X and above should be common sense for elite.
Bit harsh to blame the (admittedly over-confident and under specced) guy who at least tried when one guy quit and another AFKed. Had I been in any of my other level 50s for that run I would have 3 playered UIE and never realised it.
You probably at least turned up with Mk XI/XII stuff, a full Kit Module sweep, Doffs and Traits...
This is true... I did it as a Lib Borg with a Tholian sword, Wrist lance, I forget what armor and shield. I actually had my items setup for Risa though, so I faced the boss with a surfboard and jetpack instead of a shard and Cane. Hard to say how things would have gone if I'd had those.
Anyways, I was able to drop the boss to 25%, and take out several of his minions while the other two peeps tried to figure out what to do about the two missing team members. After my eventual respawn, we went in together and curb stomped him. Turthfully, I think I could have 2-manned it.
Really, I think that UIE only failed due to lack of players. I got through it without shields/armor, trying to die to test my new adrenal hypo module's resurrection ability, with zero deaths. If you weren't two down, I bet you would've gotten through it fine.
Makes me want to do a premade run with the entire team shield/armorless, actually.
And speaking of UIE, lost out on 10 marks yesterday because the one random player on our team ran ahead and either didn't try to answer questions correctly or purposely answered them wrong. Always nice when the infiltrator's confronted before the optional's even done...
Hard to be too annoyed about 10 marks, but still, this is usually the only content I play for Undine marks, I want to get the most out of it I can. Guessing this guy was just trying to speed run it for the crafting mats, they didn't come off as a griefer to me.
You want to speedrun this? Memorize the answers -- don't TRIBBLE over your teammates.
It was a PUG for The Breach, and started out fine - but then I noticed that things were getting harder, because by the time we'd gotten to the first hangar we were down two players. I got pissed off about leavers, because we were doing fine beforehand, but then one of them came back and I started getting lag.
So we four-man the first hangar, and then make our way into the central hangar eventually. When it's time to take on the dreadnought, we're back down to three players because of d/cs and server problems, and then the three of us get to the Subpower Core...
...and lose another player.
It's me and one other guy in the middle of this, and we both agreed to just go for it and two-man the rest of it. Taking out the SPC and then the main Power Core is a pain in the butt with FIVE players. Try doing it with 40% of your firepower, and 250% of your aggro. It wasn't an exercise in futility, as there's only so many hitpoints the darn thing has and it doesn't heal itself like a Borg ship.
But that was the longest 45 minutes I've spent in an STF...and the biggest endurance trek I've been on in this game. Brutal, but my god I was NOT giving up on that Cybernetic Implant, because it was the very last thing I needed for the pretty pretty white shields...
Did an space ISE run a while a ago with a pug low dps group( all well under 5k), fine that happens, but one guy managed 540 dps, simply turning up and firing his weapons should have given any build three times that.

yeah I run into those types every now and then... annoying, but I don't lose much from it.... much.
I think I'm in the minority here when I say that at this point I'm more annoyed with all the A2B FAW Scimitar tacticians or other ships like that which blast through everything in seconds, rather than with pugs having little to no firepower. At least with the latter there's some kind of tension. With the former, it's just... boring.
Ran ICE yesterday and I seemed to have a bounty on my head from the borg. First cube and both spheres opened up on me and I got dropped in the explosion of the cube. Okay happens. Move around on the left cube and as I engage it, again I seem to draw a lot of fire. Then I notice the Obelisk is taking on one of the generators and not the cube. I die, fix my injuries and rush back to polish off said cube. My counter is getting longer. And the optional is lost. Mop spheres and go to other side. Sure enough, carrier is popping generators before the cube is down. . Sigh. Now we get the gate and tac cube. I think I went through six or seven components by now. I get popped again as we are fighting the cube. I now have a ninety second delay to get back. They did manage to pop it before I could respawn. But what makes this my worst?
I get a team message ordering me to get back into the fight or I will be reported!?! And the person dropped me onto ignore for having been detonated.

Though you are criticize ppl for being good in the game, which is kinda... illogical. And that aside, a2b on scimi or other tactical ships aint the best setup anymore.

its hard to see someone lacking basic respawn mechnic knowledge in an ESTF

I probably would have checked his/her ship and asked if they needed help, 500 DPS is less than what a T1 ship could do with ease in ISE.

This is so true. On my Rommie, I do fly a Scimitar. However, the only reason I stick with it is not because it will give high DPS, because it has been proven that using the Lt. Commander universal station as a tactical station to double up on tactical skills can still give you more DPS if you have the other BOFFs setup right.
I use it because due to the nature of my disabilities, I cannot set up where I can use a keyboard. (Just a note, I use a tablet someone is letting me use to comment on the forums, not a regular keyboard). I have used other builds, and blew my A2B DPS away. It is the tactical skills that are the problem with OP, not A2B. The only advantage I have with A2B is I can last longer because it will let me double up on heals. Even the extra power to engines, and shields are not what does it.
Anyway, to get back on topic...
...I was flying a level 46 character the other day, and was going into normal STFs while leveling. I go into one (The Conduit), and there are about three level 50 characters in it. The other low level character, and myself go to the left after taking out the cube, and spheres.
I kill the sphere, thinking that since no one else was attacking it, they must be working on the generators. Wrong! When I look around, it is only the other low level player, and myself. The level 50s went to the other side after we headed to this side.
I had no way to type to the other player that we needed to go with them, so I just helped them.
We drop all of the generators to 10%, then drop them together. We both had skills to hold off the spheres, thankfully. We drop the transformer, and started to head to the right side of the gate, when I noticed we failed the optional.
Get to the other side, and the level 50 ships (2 Scimitar, and 1 Mogh). They have nanite spheres hugging the transformer, and are struggling against the regular spheres. So, the other lower level player and myself help clear the spheres, and kill the transformer.
When it came down to the gate and cube, they went for the cube, and the two of us just drop the gate, and go help them, because they were getting slaughtered.
This proves that knowing how to build, and fly the ship is more than buying the "best" ship, and hitting level 50.

Actually, I've SEEN that! Me and some friends were helping someone level and took them into KASE. He used an undergeared low tier ship while we used our regular stuff. We got the optional even though the low level guy did little damage and one of my team mates had to go AFK when real life attacked.... Getting stuck with probes in a D'D is not fun, but dealable.

I would have just put one ship on TBR/Grav Well probe holding duty for one side of KASE, and put everyone else on the other.
Think UIE is another ground I'm going to have to stop pugging, at least when I'm still trying to get marks. I've done four runs since my last post, three of them went the exact same way. The second run, I went in with a team of four, got a really cool random who joked with us in chat during downtime, and we got a perfect score on it.
Sucks, before people caught on about the crafting mats it was one of my favorite ground missions. Easy enough that a pug team couldn't really TRIBBLE it up but still pretty fun. Now that people don't even try to answer right, I lose out on marks for my new alt that could actually use them.
