Some guy a few pages back was talking about doing ISE in 3.5 minutes or somesuch and getting called a cheater. I just want to take a moment to relate a similar event that occurred the other night, but from the other direction.
I hadn't played my Galor in a while, finally started picking it back up again, and wanted to get my 90 borg marks so I jumped into an ISE. Three DHC Avengers and a Wells, plus me. I hit tab, target the cube, it's dead. I blink. The hell just happened? I target a sphere, there are no spheres, they're dead already. The "I scanned the generators blah blah" screen pops up, and I'm in shock. I haven't even MOVED yet, and everything is dying. So I motor on over to the left cube, it's dead. I target one generator and start hammering, the other three are dead, and then my goes 90%, 20%, dead. By now I can see the cannons, those angry, angry cannons comes from the Avengers. The Wells is dropping gravity wells and crazy shenanigans everywhere, and the Avengers just cannon volley fire and wipe out all the probes and spheres in 4 seconds flat.
We scoot over to the other side for a repeat performance, then the gate and sphere are all that remains. The gate goes down in 45 seconds, give or take. The cube, 30 or less. The whole mission, with ~11.5 still on the clock. I look at all these Avengers and their Wells compatriot, and they're all from the same fleet. Phoenix something-or-other. I thanked them all profusely, applauded them, and then got the hell out of there because their DPS scared the **** out of me.
so Gorn Minefield. this is not rly a bad experience for me, because I have loads of fun with it, but I guess many ppl suffer from those, who just go to the enemies' next spawn, so they can get as much dmg on the relevant enemies as possible. GM is a faulty mission in it self, but having no spawn timer, is one of the biggest issue. as far as I am concerned, I do not rly care, even with me being a sci, there are only rare occasions, when I do not get first place (even then I mess up usally).
but I know ppl with lower dps, and less knowledge of whats what, they suffer from these idiots, who care not about finishing up, leaving it to the others.
so today I got a bunch of those (rarely have I 4 of these wonderplayers with me in there, 1-2 is usually in the game, but when you have 4, the real fun begins... ) in a GM. they go to the first spawn right when we have finished the 20 frigates, leaving 3 ships for me to be set free. and guess what. I just noticed that we have 9 fleet projects just opening up (yeah we do these at the same time ). well it was as good a time as any, to start filling up stuff ^^
by the time I finished with 6 projects, I noticed 2 of our heroes came back. so I just waited for them to finish (I am not going forward, I am not that evil). when they finish, I warp there (so I am still in front of them). we kill the stuff, I am fairly confident I am up front with DPS, so I am calm as hell, when I see, that they have left 2 facilities at 2/3, I finish up one quickly, and move next to the other.
oh, and look, I just noticed that I have finished the gorn minefield daily as well, what better time, to hail it, and finish it? yep, I sat there a bit, chatted in the other channels, when I see, the same to guys, getting bored of me, not repairing the thing, so they can pewpew away.
this time, I tried to get my point through, jumping to impulse the minute they arrived. but in the end fight I did use sensor scan and APB, so noone can blame me for not supporting my team, while taking the first place reward (was TRIBBLE tho, got me around 200k EC only, but I had loads more fun in the mission, than usually)

lol, I had the same reaction yesterday...I ended up carrying them through the CSE - really made me work my rear off. It's worse than the Oddy and Chimera periods...and the ship itself isn't very good - anyone with no experience with carriers uses it (the curiosity is understandable, but still)....it's something like giving someone a gun to shoot himself in the leg.
There should be a big sign - the carriers need top pets, otherwise they are half a ship - if you're not ready to spend 70-80k dil, stick with the escorts or the cruisers.

Objection. I fly it currently as a fun-ship (on my weakest char), since i wait till i get the JHHEC and wanted something different than a raptor. Correctly flown, it can do its 15k dps on a tac, and 11.5k on a engineer. Aux2Bat of course. You can fly cure with 60% teamdamage and can do optional.
As it is with every ship, it strongly comes down to the captain, not to the ship
though you are correct, it doesnt really fit a tac. but to be honest, it doesnt really fit any class, since its that limited.
For the record, I fly a FAE, DHC/Turret with KCB and the new ODBA.

"Little escorts handle the probes, let the big boys handle the rest." (Heavy Cruiser player speaking)
So, I ask, "why do you figure I can't handle myself?"
"Listen noob, I pull 4k DPS in this ship, I don't need you slowing us down."
So, annoyingly, seeing as how they weren't even going to engage probes, they left me to deal with them...Cue each of them calling a Borg Cube. Cue only the D'Kyr surviving theirs...Cue this little escort proceeding to blow apart the remaining Cubes (who were barely below 70%), while telling the D'Kyr to handle the probes, as he's no good dead...Optional Objective isn't obtainable at this point because of stupid. Proceed to finish gates and clean up.
4 vs. Scimitar: Every Other Thalaron Burst the Heavy Cruiser, Star Cruiser and Atrox gets blown to pieces. D'Kyr has the smart sense to stay near me and switches to a support role, something the others aren't happy with.
"Don't support this noob, kill it!"
Help finish off Scimitar, am surprised that I'm tanking this thing (barely, but still).
HCR: "Why bother asking, you're an escort mine is obviously going to be higher."
D'Kyr (Whisper: Are you sure you want him to know?)
Me (Whisper: Of course I do, I know what my ship puts out usually)
D'Kyr: FAE: 11.6k DPS
Me: Huh, that's about 1k lower than normal...Odd.
From here the Heavy Cruiser player begins to explode on how I must've been cheating, it's impossible to get that high DPS...etc...
He then insisted on Dueling me afterwards with his buddies. D'Kyr switched sides to watch the ensuing pain that was about to come and said he'd only heal me after I destroyed a craft.
I can't ever remember if they broke my shields...Yea...He was mad...
Mine was just two nights ago. I have a character that, for some reason, I had forgotten to get a MACO ground set for, so I was working on getting up rough omega marks for it. Since I new getting the optional a would help, I usually used premise groups with me fleet, all of us being in fleet retrofits. However, no one was on at this point in time, so I decided to PUG it. Worst decision ever.i joined KASE and immediately realized I was in for a ride. Here was my team:
Me: Fleet Tactical Escort Retrofit, Tactical
Sci captain: Freebie obelisk with default swarmers (and weapons I think)
Tac captain: (probably a troll) Still rolling a Miranda
Engi captain: Rolling a long range science vessel (wtf?)
Sic captain: Going with a patrol escort
So here I am, in this game with absolutely no competent players, but I can't afford the leaver penalty because I need these marks. So I follow my fleets usual strategy, two guys take right gate, two take left, and we leave our fleet leader with a huge dps cruiser to guard the vortex, which should really be an easy job, they're just probes after all. When I am finished with one of the transformers on the right gate, I head to the other one, picking off a few probes on the way. This is when I see that all of the other players are barely holding off at the vortex. Eventually, I decide that I will have to lighten the load coming from my gate or we will lose because 4 people could handle probes. I take down the second transformer, and head to the gate. Used to having a partner, I die about 5 times before taking the gate down. Of course, this gets me yelled at that I have a horrible build and that I "don't deserve to be filling in for Jimmy!" So I'm guessing that this is a preformed group that I get thrust into. I repeat this process for the other side and then it comes time for donatra. This is where the Miranda dude actually (not really) reclaims himself a little. He has the emission seeking torpedo on his ship, so he can actually hit Donatra when she is cloaked. However, this battle turns into her cloaking, decloaking, and no one but me knowing to get out of the green circle. Eventually (after 1.5 hours) we win, and Share dps. there ships got around 1k, and the Miranda got significantly less, while I got about 12k. This is when the cheat insults come out, and I decide just to leave.

depends on theloadout, did a cure elite run, i was a sci rom in my advanced obelisk with the advanged swarers.... was second best DPS at 7.7k DPS. considering i was running MK XI greens and blues, no AP mag's, I did pretty well. with the Advanced Obelisk 3 peice set, it really boosts their damage with EPTW running a lot.
The game has a combat logging function (which you can turn on with /combatlog 1 and off with /combatlog 0), and external programs exist to "parse" the combatlog. There are several to choose from, of varying complexity. If they're properly set up, they should all give similar results. ISE is the best STF to parse, since it keeps the team together (there's a range limitation- if an ally or enemy is too far from you, your combatlog won't record their action).
Here's how I do it. One of several options, again, though my knowledge of the others is probably outdated now.

Advanced obelisk + good player, i am sure you did good.
But other 90% of them...
I mean, i dont mine destroying 4/4 cubes, both gates..i, it's really not a problem.
But are they trying to kiss Donatra every time, or ram in her, or see how she looks , and i just keep yelling at everybody
Without going into elaborate detail, the core problem was generally low DPS and an idiot in a Sovereign who either had chat switched off or was ignoring it.
Said idiot, with laughable DPS, helped fight the first cube. He then ignored the initial two spheres which accompany the first cube and flew over to the first generator, where he started blasting away at one of the transformers.
Said idiots ignores requests to shoot at the cube first. We despatch the two spheres and quickly move to take out the first generator-cube. We do so, and move to start on the transformers. The low-DPS sovereign finally takes his out, whilst the rest of take ours out in short succession, and manage to take the generator down by the skin of our teeth.
Same happened other side too; we were lucky to get the optional on that one.
Sad thing is, whilst lacking in DPS, the Sovereign in question was quite tanky - he died a few times, but not as often as I would otherwise have assumed.
Switched character, to my Klingon, and played ISE again where some idiot in a Kumari decided to call the 10% rule (which I haven't seen mentioned or used for AGES), and subsequently rage-quit because it wasn't followed.
It is stories like this why I never go to elite stf's. I am afraid I will end up as the dumb atrox or oddy here.

ask for help/tips before tackling elites. space wise with the right group/equipment its not that much harder than normal, its the bosses that are the biggest difference.
Had one hit me a few days back with a Hive Onslaught round. Me in my usual Mirror Patrol Escort, two Avengers (I think one was regular and the other was Fleet), a Fleet Support Cruiser and our favorite Obelisk. Almost immediately after the Tac Cubes were summoned, the Obelisk just outright disappears (not sure if the person DC'd or they Rage Quit), but the rest of the fight just dragged on and on. Got stuck there for a good 30 minutes before I decided to take the penalty and bail.
Worst STF run Ive ever had, by far, thanks to what I can only assume is intentional trolling.
When Donatra appeared, one of the players, flying an Elachi escort, starts flying right up close to Donatra and using tractor beam repulsors every time he can. I assum he was running two copies from the frequency.
So not only did he shove her out of our firing arcs constantly, but when we finally caught up to her he'd trigger a cloaking cycle.
Nearly twenty minutes to kill one enemy.
Myself and 2 other players repeatedly asked him, very politely, to keep his distance via team chat bar. No response and it only seemed to egg him on.
Thinking he may have switched it off, I sent him a very polite pm explaining that his TBR was sending Donatra out of our arcs and his proximity was triggering cloak.
I wasnt nasty and was in fact very nice about the whole thing, as were my fellow players. I remember getting blasted for mistakes when I was a rookie and cant stand it when I see immature players start swearing at newbies and in particular rage quitting or going AFK.
Instead I get a foul PM back saying that, and im editing here for sake of civility, "Don't tell me what to. Reporting to GM for harrasing"
Since he clearly had been monitoring the in game chat, and since the majority of lockbox ship pilots are long-termers, I can only assume that the whole thing was relishing in a wind up.
Seriously, I get that the game is a little low on end game content right now. But I fail to see how deliberately sabotaging and being vicious to other players is entertaining in anyway. Inexperience, human error, all that I dont mind. But trolling is just stupid.
Got a cat? Have 10 minutes to help someone make the best degree dissertation of all time?
Then please fill out my dissertation survey on feline attachment, it'd be a massive help (-:
As I said, it seems as if the bug (lance can hit you regardless of where you are) kicks in after a certain period of time.
I'm convinced that the 'ridiculance' mechanic kicks in after the first or second team wipe. Hive seems like you either do the Unimatrix part with at least one ship still firing at them or it starts getting really hairy/nigh on impossible for most teams.
"So my fun is wrong?"
No. Your fun makes everyone else's fun wrong by default.
Well, I had one go pretty badly yesterday. Not worst ever by any stretch, but pretty bad.
It started well, it was a premade group who'd all done the STF before and each of us had decent gear.
But, the guy who was team leader decided that the best course of action was to run past all the Borg we didn't need to kill.... Unfortunately for me, every time I tried to out run them I got shot in the back, and often KOed. This of course resulted in numerous injuries that I couldn't heal. Why not? no idea. I picked up enough regenerators during the fight to heal the critical injuries, but every time I tried to use one the game wouldn't show me the list of injuries to heal. This made it so that I kept getting KOed every fight I was in and it kinda sucked to be me. We actually ended up losing the optional not because we weren't proceeding fast enough but because they stopped and were trying to figure out how to fix my injuries. Eventually we just gave up on that and massacred everything. The funniest moment was after a party wipe, one member tried to kill the remaining Borg alone, with predictable results...
I think the "run past them" strategy would work quite well, if you could manage to not get party wiped, ever. It would probably alsot work better if you ran through as a group instead of in a stream like we did.
It's a pity - whilst the new season introduces measures that help deal with AFK players, there is sadly no method for dealing with complete idiots.
Sure there is. Report him to a GM for being an TRIBBLE$hole. That's what I do every time I get a leecher or whatever, like this hatf**ker I got in a Crystalline a couple days ago. Spent the whole match with his Scimitar parked cloaked at the spawn point. I verbally warned him once by PM, then told the whole team to report him for being a leeching hatf**ker.

Well, that's certainly a term I wasn't familiar with previously.
My worst of late was just some gung-ho newbie in an ICE that went straight for the nanite generators every time, ignoring the cubes sitting on top of things and popping them as fast as his little cannons could fire. On the upside, he made good time ... on the down side he didn't communicate worth beans which made things that much more complicated for the rest of us.
My worst STO experience has to be that cloaking has been broken since the patch of 01-11-11 & I'm still getting uncloaked, both on the ground & in space, every damned time a stupid com window pops up.
Me in my fleet excelsior with mk xii rommie set fleet tet beams (not a brag setup just info). With a tet beam oddy with borg set go right.
For some reason I don't understand I am way out DPSing the oddy, but he was trying.
One of the other cruisers went middle on his own, then went boom.
The other two (an MVAE & klink cruser), attempted to defend kang. They went boom soon and often.
Oddy and I take care of right gens and cube, with a little over 8 mins left on the timer. Making our way middle when optional timer goes red, damn. Oh well, it happens.
Look over to Kang, all three of the other group are going boom apparently inundated by the flood of 3 raptors (one of which they they managed to get down to 5% health before it killed them). I tried like mad to save the day but alas Kang went boom. Fail...
I have never had a CSN go that badly. Lol. Had to add it to the thread.
My worst STF experience happened a while back. I was pugging the elites like i did back in the day, but this time, i was in my regent (on my main tac) and when i warped into the instance of ISe, there was only one person other than me in ther, the last leaver leaving right as i came in.
Normally, i'd be going 'lol, nope!' and leave, but something kept me in it. Wanting to test the build on this ship, i flew at the left gen, alone. Succeded in blowing 2 gems before i got blown. respawn, go back into certain death, getting the last gen on left and taking out a few spheres before blowing again.
After that, it was a solo tanking against the spheres, at which point the other person in the match comes to my aid. five minutes later, a third warps in. By then, the opt was blown by a long shot. But still we fought. It took forever, and we all died A LOT before the first transformer was killed. so we claw out way to the other side and repeat.
Overall, the match took about an hour, and i had run out of all the components to heal myself after death, so i was a floating wreck held together by chewing gum, rope, spit, and my own will.
Ironically, while it was my worst STF experience, it was also 1) the best stf experience because 3 did it and won, 2)a personal proving ground, 3) marked [to me] a threshold of pugging and failing and pugging and winning, and 4)worth it because i was able to throw my former fleet's doctrine of 'stick to your class' ship type' in their face
This may sound silly, but since S8 and the APB bug, I have no reason to play with my main science char in the borg space STFs. Completing the old 3 STFs and have 47 minutes on CD of the first one in usually sub-par teams? No problem - no challenge either. I measured that 26 seconds is the time I need to single-handedly kill a gate in KASE...not my idea of fun, too OP. Hopefully there will be a fix for it this week.

How do you get the DPS record for STFs?
I am curious how I am doing in my Atrox.

It is stories like this why I never go to elite stf's. I am afraid I will end up as the dumb atrox or oddy here.

ask for help/tips before tackling elites. space wise with the right group/equipment its not that much harder than normal, its the bosses that are the biggest difference.

I'm convinced that the 'ridiculance' mechanic kicks in after the first or second team wipe. Hive seems like you either do the Unimatrix part with at least one ship still firing at them or it starts getting really hairy/nigh on impossible for most teams.
No. Your fun makes everyone else's fun wrong by default.
My character Tsin'xing

I wasn't aware attack pattern beta was bugged. How is it bugged? As i cant seem to find any other complaints on the forums about it.
