I to am having a hard time with this mission as I ma using type 8 shuttle craft and can never get all worker bees to stop fixing the sensors.
There are station phasers and right below and i wonder why they haved picked me up on sensors before I even get there.
I'm not sure I'm following what you're saying. Are you saying that phasers from the station are attacking your shuttle during the first part of this mission where you have to destroy the sensor clusters? If that's what you're saying, then I have to say that's something I've never seen on this mission. Are you sure they aren't purple polaron beams from the Jem'Hadar ships, perhaps because you didn't wait long enough for them to be pulled away by the fleet? If they're phasers, I'm not sure how to help you with that, because I've never seen that happen.
As for fighting the work bees, make sure that your space control options are set so that "Tab selects offscreen targets as well", then just hit tab until you have a work bee targeted. Attack it with your beam weapon only until you see its facing shield drop, then fire a torpedo. That kills them the fastest. Then hit tab until you see the next work bee in your targeting display and do the same thing. Ignore the Jem'Hadar attack ships until all the bees are destroyed. There is one bee in the first attack, 2 in the second and 3 in the third. Having a shield heal Boff at this point is best; using something like Fire Beam at Will will just let the bees finish repairs and force you to start over again.
The first part is a pain in the tucchus, and the least-fun part of the mission, but it can be done; it just takes practice.
The trick with the Sats is after the initial keep the Sat entirely on the screen and read what it says near the status bar... i.e. detecting enemy that is the clue to which squence to use. This mission can be done with minimal combat. I managed to complete the salvage and only had to attack the spawn when the resoense pulse was used while the frengi was escaping.
What he said, come on peeps,it aint rocket science.
Lets all guess how many of the people complaining about this mission were Rushing
Everything you need to complete the mission, especially the salvage part is explained to you...
Read the instructions and WRITE DOWN the sequence for each type. When scanning, the type will be put next to the ship and countdown timer. Match the type to the 2 part sequence. No explosions.
As for the first part solo in a standard shuttle... it's doable, but hard. Basically, you need to really upgrade the thing to use GOOD weapons and get armor for the eng console.
Start by targetting a bee, knock its shield down, and release a big torpedo. That should kill it. Whip around to the next bee and kill its read shield... torpedo. Do the third the same way.
THEN you can deal with the fighters. If you killed all of the workers, you can even respawn at that point and clean up the fighters at your leisure. Bees are the priority.
I imagine that this is MUCH easier in one of the C-Store ships, and expect that's the main reason for this part of the mission... encourage consumption.
i honstly cant see any reason why someone would have trouble with this mission. my 1st time through it took about 20min i think its way too easy but atleast u get a good reward for doing it.

It's quite doable with the standard weapons. You want the 360° firing arc of the -S beam arrays; it's so much easier when you can fire in any direction, and the torpedo the shuttles come with is more than sufficient to destroy the bees with one shot. Get consoles that boost your shields (Field Emitter, Emitter Array), and either a Torpedo damage boost tac console, or else the Point Defense System console.
It's not so much a point of ship improvements being needed, it's a point of becoming familiar with the foibles of the mission. I do it now okay with the shuttle available for EC, with standard weapons/shield. You just have to keep hitting that tab button in the first part until you get a bee targeted and wait to attack until you do.
I did the following... I spent the 35000 EP for a Danube and got the the free standard shuttle also, I then removed the torpedoes from the danube and put the 360 beam arrays in both slots on the Danube, put my best consoles in each slot, and a tactical BOFF with beam overload as ensign skill. Doing double damage in a 360 arc with burst from overload made it easy.
WOW! General aditude here is: if the mission fails, its cryptic's fault. Srsly learn to play. The mission is EASY on normal and advanced if you are able to read.
And don't just start to bash me for saying it, you know i'm right! No shame in learning!
Not a tough mission if you use your mouse to steer your ship to kill the work bees and write down the instructions for disabling the Tac Satellites in the next part. The swarms were easily taken care of with a 360 degree arc array or turret and a torpedo launcher. Was an enjoyable mission!

I think, maybe, Cryptic was trying to encourage people to think differently when they did this mission, and it wasn't always appreciated. It involved several types of tasks, and I know in my case, I really hated the rapid-paced battle part of it. That's simply not part of why I like STO; but that's just me. Some people like the mindless, shoot-em-up aspect of the game, and bless them for doing so. I thought it could have been made a little more thinking-oriented instead of reflex-oriented, though.
Writing down the instructions for the Ferengi tasks was always a given for me; I guess some people just don't have such things occur to them naturally. No shots against them for that; but now they've had it suggested to them.
Fighting the swarmers, though, is something where I really think they were expecting people to think differently, though. Switching to a Boff with Beam: Fire At Will is something that would likely occur to some people first, but there are also options that make it even easier; Using the Tactical Automated Defence Turret console works wonderfully, as does replacing the shuttle torpedo with a Hargh'peng torpedo to fire into the cluster of swarmers before they get near, because the blast radius of it takes out a whole bunch of the swarmers at once (and it moves much faster than a Tricobalt torp).

Yep......more than one way to skin a cat! Apologies to all the cat lovers out there!
It's just you. The mission is incredibly easy. Of course, if you play on autofire mode and don't know that you can select a target, it may not work, but... well, in this case, i shouldn't say what i think about this behaviour.
I am farily new and had real trouble with Operation Gamma. I finally gave up. Then I went back and saw where I was going wrong. Finally did it a few times to get all rewards. I used cannons. I also stayed more in the middle to have to cover less space. Also, it did not help on Gamma, but later I learned you can zoom in or out on the field of play. I was having a hard time seeing the flea ship. Now I can zoom in and it helps a lot. I like the escort ships much better now that I can see them more clearly by zooming.
I should have added staying in the middle while trying to take out sensors. For me that was the hard part. The rest was pretty easy.
Have a cannon matching your other weapon, no torpedoes, just pure energy weapons, ALSO don`t forget to put it on normal first!:):)
Oh, I would definitely not recommend that. You want a powerful, fast torpedo, like the Hargh'peng, and if you can get it, the -S Plasma beam. It simply takes too long to take down the bees with beams alone; the fighters will chew you up and spit you out. Maybe if you're doing it with a Sci captain, so you have Photonic Fleet available... but beams simply do far too little damage to hulls to want to pair them up. Best to stick to the standard formula of one -S beam and one torpedo (Hargh'peng).
The first part went well for me, no problems. The salvage mission i s a different story. I just didn't understand what sequence to use on the satellites. I somehow finished it, but feel like it is bugged or I just missed the directions. Going to try it on my sci and eng now....
Oh the cut scene with the jem'hadar ship interior was horrible as art goes, it looks sooo unfinished.
If you had read the mission reports properly it tells you EXACTLY in what order you scan them, just write it down and problem solved. Did it first time without any problems.

Huh, cause I did a duel beam, and I think a shuttle beam or a normal one. Took out those work bees just fine and quick. Same with the swarmers. That's without photonic fleet.
Remember to target the work bees first, keep your heals handy to deal with the fighters firepower but kill the work bees as quickly as possible, forget the fighters until the bees are dead. Any weapon enhancements you have use them.
When the attack fighter comes try to engage from the side and keep niggling at it. Any heals/ weapon improvements use em.
Section 2: Dealing with the Anomalies/ Sats/ Derelict ships.
Close to just within scan range of the target, if you foul up and the sat etc explodes you should have enough time to reverse away from the blast using evasive manoeuvres to give you some speed backing off.
When you scan the target look at what the target is, in the target reticule. EG: if its an Active Enemy Detection sat. Quickly look at the engineering menu bottom right of screen.
Gives you a list of options. Example Active Enemy detection is an Ionic scan followed by removing the batteries. Just look for the key words don't get bogged down reading the whole thing cos you have seconds only. Just remember the keywords. EG: ionic then batteries punch them in in order. Or whatever it says. Remain calm don't get spooked.
Section 3: Swarmers.
Fun bit. LOL Best way to deal with swarmers is to back off/ reverse this prevents them (a little) from surrounding you all sides. Twin shuttle beam phasers are good for this, I find. If you are a tac, use fire at will 1 is great for killing them.
When dealing with the main bunch stirred up by Farek hide in the tunnel facing them. Dash out attract a few run back to the tunnel, they will follow you forcing them into a bottle neck making it easier to kill them. Careful though some will hide above the entrance waiting for you to pop out again.
It takes a bit of practice but when you get it, you will feel like a total boss.
I've got 6 toons and ive now perfected the ultimate Gamma shuttle.
Ideal gear:
Take any fighter/ shuttle of your choice. Use any consoles you want but equip the following if you have them.
Point defence console from Thunderchild escort skin. This thing will kill all and any swarmers/ work bees and fighters in several seconds. Let them crowd around you and let rip. All dead, boom 2-3 secs. Must be within 3 km (to be safe) for maximum effect.
Yellowstone runabout engines with the warp plasma. these engines will slow down even stop any enemy including Mogai's and Jem attack ships and BOPS in Vault. It kills swarmers. Fly right into swarmers cloud. Pop plasma, fly in a tight pattern with evasive manoeuvres. Boom deady swarmies!
Fighter only: quad phasers from the Sau Paulo defiant skin. With weapon enhancements in a tac its a lethal combo.
Just remember to allow your console to cool down before using them again if you know you have more difficult section to come.
My actual small craft is Peregrine, quad phasers, Yellowstone plasma engines, Point defence console. Standard the rest.
Avoid: cutting beam, ok against larger targets. Useless against swarmers because it takes to long to target and kill them.
Happy hunting.
Monkey see, Monkey do. Monkey flings Feathered Monkey poo...
A very simple thing to do with the swarmers is to drop a satelite turret and keep it at your back.
Regarding the first part. Kill the bees first. Since you will take some hits from the fighters, run with high shield. The bees cannot take much damage, so you don't need high weapon power. Don't forget to crank up weapon power when you are up against the attack ship.
Photon torp, and a Hargh, with a torp spread Boff, a nadeon detonator and a PDS console. just remember to face the center when you're interacting with the sensor nodes. It's really not that hard. PDS makes the third wave of drones easy. But if you're facing their spawn point they're not hard to take out even without it.
fire at will, 125 weapon power and a hargh'peng are basically the "iWin" button you need in any shuttle fight.
the hargh'peng annihilates anything that clusters and has less than 2500 hp in a single shot...just target the most centre target.
fire at will takes care of the rest.
This mission is making me considering quiting the game, it just can't get passed the sensor bit. Tried 20 times so far. Every time I need to disable the last one, halfway through the scans the repairthings show up, and even tho I destroy them before they are fully done, I still need to start over.
Plus my ship takes a bit more damage every time so after about 6 times doing that in need to retreat for repairs, how is this even possible am I using the wrong ship or something?
What shuttle are you using if a type 9 that won't do get the runabout and put some good hull plating in it as well as shiled emitter and a tac consol of you choice.I used Tac team in my boff slot.
baudl's Stratgety seems like solid one if I was going to do it again I would do it his way.
Indeed, take a runabout and buff the equipment up. You can take it from your main ship. You certainly don't need the best of the best, but flying a shuttle mission, with one that just comes from the shelf ... I don't know, never tried it.
Tac team is a good boff abillity, gives shield redistibution, attack buff etc.
