Operation Gamma...more like Operation Impossible

Maybe it's just me, but I honestly can't stand the beginning part of the mission.

I disabled the sensors Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon and Zeta, then I got spotted by the Jem'Hadar Attack Ship.

I destroyed it and I figured, with that, it would've kept the mission going with the first six sensors disabled.

But no.

I had to start all over again with Alpha, while trying to eliminate worker bees and fend of Jem'Hadar ships in the process.

I normally don't complain, but I honestly couldn't even finish that objective on account of my frustration with it.

Did anyone else who went through this mission feel the same way or am I totally overreacting?

the first part was easy. The tactical secton of the salvage mission has me(present tense, I'm still doing it) SCREAMING AT MY SCREEN. I have done absolutely everything I could the way the tactical report tells me to do, and each one still explodes, taking me with it. Great job, cryptic.

Hey least you got that far. I disabled Alpha, blew up due to not expecting the Jem'hadar attackships (Really not used to being in a shuttle)...

And now the mission won't continue. Literally. There's a attack ship stuck in the lower part of DS9 (The Generator area right? I always forgot what the glowing red bit was ;P). I can't shoot at it. I can't find "Beta" etc. I can't drop the mission as when I do to restart it. It stays the same and the littler Jem'hadar ship is just sitting there, chilling in it's stuck location.

    So woo. :V

The first part went well for me, no problems. The salvage mission i s a different story. I just didn't understand what sequence to use on the satellites. I somehow finished it, but feel like it is bugged or I just missed the directions. Going to try it on my sci and eng now....
Oh the cut scene with the jem'hadar ship interior was horrible as art goes, it looks sooo unfinished.

I logged back in to complete some DOff missions and I was invited to join a team with three other players. I asked which of the two missions we should do and the leader said "Operation Gamma".

We blew through that first part with no problem. lol :D I think it took less than 15 minutes! :)

So, to anyone who was having problems with a mission like this, try to seek out a team for help. The mission will be over before you know it.

Yeah, I tried it last week by myself and it wasn't easy, this week, with a mate, the first part was a breeze.
I think the timer was a little short though in the asteroids section.

i must agree.. the first part was nice and easy but the salvage on the engineer is a pain.. i dont get it.. i scan, the little ships show up, i kill them, scan again and boom.. fu.. maybe criptic or someone else, how to do it? or maybe make a little patch so the blow timer is longer?

i use my deltaflyer for this.

abort the mission for now.. not fun if i cant get it.

I found a way to work through it. When she gets ready to blow, pop evasive maneuvers and get the heck out of dodge. then turn around and wait for the satellite to respawn. Whatever you chose the first time, do it again. if it blows up, repeat. the satellite fixes are random, which is STUPID by the way, so if you keep to the original sequence, EVENTUALLY you'll get it. I never thought this one would be worse than the runaround of "Of Bajor."

For the ships and satellites you need to use a specific sequence of steps(two steps) to prevent them blowing; the steps to use are explained in the pop up from the button on the side of the screen. Pretty straightforward being honest.

Once you see it you'll sigh, after you perform the initial scan, the type of satalite is displayed above the satalite name. From there you can select the correct deactivation sequence. Took me 10mins to spot the extra info on the first satalite,

I found the mission fairly straightfoward. Thankfully I have the photonic fleet ability so getting through the sensors part was pretty easy. The science version of the second part - scanning a bunch of anomalies - again, pretty easy. The only really painful part was those damned swarming things. I got blown up twice, but at least the first time I took a bunch with me!

I found 'abandon ship' to be quite helpful here. ;)

hehe That's why I started out my post with "Maybe it's just me". :D I didn't want to assume that it was insanely hard for absolutely everyone. :)

Wait, there's people that found this mission hard? Because I can breeze through it in like 10 mins, honestly. The only difficulty imposed is the aritifical difficulty of being forced into a shuttle. I could have done this mission in the travel time basically if I had my ship.

One thing I've been doing is setting up my KDF fighters in the Omega Space set and equipping the cannon from the vault and another single cannon. For the 3 consoles I've been using a disruptor +26%, aceton mine, and isometric charge consoles. Most people I would think are used to the hold both mouse buttons down to face a target but the best thing I've found is use the mouse to move the camera but use your a, w, s, d movement buttons to move it so it will turn faster than the normal mouse tactic. I'm pretty sure for federation based tactics fire at will does same thing just to me looks cooler doing it my KDF way.

Even though I'm in disagreement with how the jem hadar space set was designed. I do however love the episode itself I really love it and the graphics of it as well as content, cinematics, etc. Only thing I'll say about that set though where it has Victory is Life I do think there should be something for Non-Jem Hadar ships as well due to the fact I want a valid reason to want to choose this set over retro borg, omega, and honor guard... Not to completely make it where I would want it on every ship but for some setups it would be nice to have a new setup using it.

How can I disable the sensors when most of the time I don't know where they are? Sometimes they have labels and sometime not. Sometimes the labels appear and then disappear.

Position your ship and camera in a way that your scan object appears by your side not in front of you or below you.
Then the label should be readyble very clearly. I had to look into the pop-up manual every single time and I didn't fail once.. only got jumped by a swarm the first time.

I think this is a lousy mission. The shuttle is so small that I can hardly see it most of the time. When I zoom in, it doesn't stay. I can't tell if I'm facing forward or backward.

It's a bad mission because you can't tell one end of a ship from another? Perplexed...

...this may be a very very stupid question:
when all is over and i am back again in the beta ursae block and i can only hail eraun without any green text option and when i try to play this mission again i got the "message" of achebe "time is short".

is there anything left to do?

    mana mana

well, the next mission is not out yet, hence why you can't do anything for the Vorta. You can replay the mission by opening your contact screen and clicking on the featured episode banner.

I found having the Point Defense System console was great for dealing with the swarmers and the rest too

I found it fairly easy, but was annoyed by the swarmers. Shuttle needs aft weapons or mines. Thinking this would be fairly easy to deal with if I trade the quantum torp for the Transphasic Cluster torp. That should blow the wee buggers to hell. As is, it's a matter of hitting one, then turn tail and run to draw them away from the rest of the swarm. Smaller numbers are more manageable.

After more playing of the mission I have discovered that torpedo spread is extremely effective against the Idrian swarmers. Just keep your distance so they can't get on your tail and you can take them out fairly easily.

I didn't find any of the objectives hard but I did find the mission felt really... canned! When going throught he wormhole, I wanted a sector block! I really wish there was a little more to do through the wormhole than just a couple of seemed maps.

The only thing hard for me was getting used to flying a shuttle again. I'm used to an escort with DHCs. The firing arc is a little too narrow against fast moving targets. I had parked my borg set on my peregrine and an AP DHC. If it weren't for torpedo spread I would have had a tough time. The reward weapon is perfect for this mission. It makes the swarms painfully easy.
As for having problems with orientation in a small ship, make sure your engine visuals are turned on. It's much easier when you can see your engine trail.
I have to agree with the poster above that said that the jem'hadar interior was bad. I thought it was my POS laptop graphics, but it did look bad.

This mission is very easy...IF you read all the Dialoge...
Disabling the sensors works fine, but you must prevent the "worker bee" probes from resetting the sensors or you will have to start over.
    Scanning the items in the asteriods ;
Note the colors in the center of the asteriods...
Reddish is the Tac options, blue the Sci and yellow is the Eng.
And for each item you have to scan just READ THE OFFICER REPORTS
It tells you EXACTLY what kind of scan to do to prevent it from blowing up.
Note you have a limited time to complete the scan or it will also blow up.
Ya might even want to write them down and keep them handy for easy referance. ;)

Takes about 10-15 min tops solo...:D
