    Honestly I think a lot of game companies have been drawing strange or partial conclusions from looking at their usage data. They really need some one who is experienced in population statistics.

    The console is missing from my Excelsiors on 3 seperate toons. Fix it, fix it now. Put the PVE button back were it was on the UI too.:mad:

    I thought that it was clearly stated that the console could remain in the eng slot, but when moved could not be put back?

    I guess I spent about 7 mil last night buying and inserting consoles into all the ships that I use for nothing, then...

    This is a serious TRIBBLE-up. Sorry to say it, but you said one thing and did another, if this is true...

    The missing consoles are in your overflow bag in your inventory. Any one of the half-dozen other threads about this could have pointed that out to you.

    Yes, the whole debacle with moving eng consoles to sci slots to "fix" sci consoles was boneheaded. Yes, they broke the conversion. Yes, nothing about this switchover is going as they said. Yes, they're aware of it and intend to fix it.

    No, it is not some giant conspiracy to drive some of you away from the game and ruin your lives.

    Just because some here simply go on historical fact, hey cant fault them. Cryptic has done some good things for sure. Problem is, it is the lingering things they will be remembered for. Like a game breaking bug (a.k.a. Decloaking popup) that has been around celebrating its 55 week birthday! weeeeeeeeee.

    And that is just the tip of the iceberg, some have mention some I went to go look at myself and wow... they were right, that have been around longer. We simply, as players, learned to get around it or avoid that part of the game till a fix came out... errr that didnt come out...

    Shield console math is getting reverted until we can fix the math so it works with Sheild skill. It will remain a science console.

    where do i begin?
    1st is their a mega list of all consoles? Im going to need to tweek all my builds.
    2nd i remember a green looking shield eng consl. on the new enterprise during the test flight.
    3rd the bio fuction sci consl is must for ships with small crews (escorts)
    3rd its been like this for 2 years making a change like this is game changing and requires some compensation.
    4th class roles a side when you put stuff in game that bosts core things like health or damage this item effects everyone. to change it later to target a part of the population (escorts) in an atempt to reblance you make a lot of people mad.
    its the nature of any population to mimumize a weekness the only way around it is to remove creativity.

    for everyone asking why they made this change i think its obvious that it was done because people were complaining that escorts were too hard to kill. as escorts benefited the most from this. i remember the greate dps nerf a while back, maby they should undo that as a compermise?

    All consoles are in R&D and the Dilithium store, minus the ones from special ships and the borg one.

    My flow capacitor consoles got a huge up so I don't care about field emitters anymore :D

    Thats NOT THE POINT its that they should of NOT been removed in the first place. It was clearly stated in the patch notes that IF you have a console ALL READY IN thats it would REAMIN there, thats NOT WHAT HAPPEND. Thats whats annoying the whole fleet, and all of mine too BTW :mad:

    i was hoping for something out of game. also isnt there items in game craftale for one side but not the other or did they fix that?

    now im just letting u know that it was not nice to take a console and turn it in to a console u now need more then 1 of.... this has cossed my and everyone else to have less of othere console that they wanted and forced them to use loads of the shield consoles just to make up the difference from the change... and i dont like it at all .... all escorts now have lower sheild cap ten before :{ sooo sad... it would have been alot more well taken if that console still gave everyone that same shield power as it did when it was an eng console...
    as i said before its just the fact it doesnt give us what it did befor is the worst part of it... there was nothing rong with the console to begin with and i have no idea what or why they made this change

    I just logged in earlier to find this change and am some what furious about it. It has ruined all my builds. Last I checked, when sheilds were taking a hammering, Kirk turned to Scotty, his engineer to fix it, not Spock, and Picard called Geordi, his engineer, not his science officer...

    Thanks for stuffing up all my builds Cryptic, I was in a good mood till I saw this...

    :mad: So here we go again... We get some nice new "Free" ships.. then BAM... you go & change something that wasn't busted & BREAK IT.... Patch notes CLEARLY state "if the console isn't moved it stays there.." NOT true.... Moved & put into an overflow bag... but guess what.. the "NEW" ships (Odyssey/Bortas) have Field Generators as Engineering Consoles & NOT Science consoles... What's wrong with "that" picture... Clearly "Two Years In" & Q&A seems to not be doing what they're getting PAID to do....

    Am I Disappointed ?? Yes !!!!

    Am I Suprised ?? NO !!!!

    If you (CRYPTIC) really needed to change the Consoles.. why not just make them UNIVERSAL !!!!!

    Or better yet.... DON'T break something that isn't broken.....

    I hear you I really do, but you know what's funny? Not only did it get moved needlessly to another console category it got nerfed to the point of uselessness. I know Cryptic will probably not change it back, fine, but please for future reference: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

    Just a quick note: Fed can get Mk XI gear/consoles while KDF can only get up to max Mk X for the same price. If any staffer is looking at this or if any player has answers that would be helpful.

    A fleet's worth of spam and rude posts, perhaps. The Edit button is your friend.

    Besides, what if the console was removed but you had no room in your Inventory while offline. The Overflow bag is naturally the safest place to put an item removed by the system if this is the case. It's why programmers make the big bucks - so your "stuff" doesn't get sucked into oblivion or, even worse, stuck in the database without any way of manipulating it.

    General:
    • Slipstream can again only be used in sector space.
    • Reverted Console - Science - Field Generator, Shield HP Consoles, to modify shield HP instead of granting Starship Shield System skill points.
      • Values will now be identical to the original console.
      • This console still goes into Science console slot.
      • This is a temporary fix and the console will eventually go back to using Starship Shield System skill points.

    I'm so disgusted right now I'm playing Supreme Commander. At least I know I can load it up for a consistent game experience every time. Boy the f-up Fairy must have made a lot of overtime for this TRIBBLE up. What's the point of the Tribble "Test" server if the things that are most important to players just get pushed directly to the live server. You guys deserve everything thrown at you today.

    yeah.. cuz the science department is now in charge of implementing and deploying technology that boosts shields like the SIF generator.. right? Guess the chief engineer of my starship can now go on a long needed vacation since the science department head is taking over some of his responsibilities such as making systems more efficient such as a +13% shield regen rate on an emiiter amplifier right? ugggh

    actually this is a lot more common that you'd care to believe, which is a shame. rapid fire turnaround testing is something they do way to much of, instances of less than 24 hours has happened.

    Nah Sato, they will fix it. Question and history shows however it probably will not be a fix that we as players, will agree with.

    You see why some of us, well me specifically get aggrovated with the things cryptic does on the fly like this is the fact that it always, ALWAYS bites them in the TRIBBLE. You would think they would learn. When they are deliberate and plan things out, they actually do a pretty good job.

    Yeah some things break... hey its a huge multiplex enviroment over many systems, sub routines, enviroments and even locations. Considering that, they dont do too bad of a job.

    Problem is where cryptic would like to go is not where they are going. Why? Quality mostly, they take a big step forward and then something like this happens and BAM, gives them a major black eye.

    On top of that, while they "design" their own game, they dont play it. They know what it is "suppose" to do but very few of them know what it "actually" does. Another problem they have is how they deal with each other in front of others, tossing each other under the bus so fast it would make your head spin. That does not lead to the credence of professionalism.

    Its a leadership issue really, they are a struggling company and it shows sometimes, they got a verge a big hit on their hands, and they are frustrated at us probably lol as much as we are them at times.

    but never fear, and cut the gang some slack every now and then too. They work hard, damn hard to make this all it can be.

    So have faith, they are going down the right path. Those, like me will still want the bugs/game breaks that bother us fixed first and will still cry out to have them fixed, but the Cryptic bunch just needs to laugh a bit at themselves, releave some stress and realize, hey its all good. Just ignore the nay saying and just fix it.

    In the end, its all we all really want. :)

    Wow just wow, a SCI console? its not a science thing, its an engineering thing, show me ONE time in ONE episode that they ever looked to the SCIENCE team to fix the shields?
    put it back where it was and revert the change, leave the science to the scientists and the Engineering to the Engineers.

    This makes little sense in both a game play concept or an immersion concept. Science consoles should be useful science folks Now i lost a console slot for this. One more reason I never do anything other than my doffs.

    Seriously inane changes like this are flat out astounding, your QA has a track record of HORRIBLE work, no matter what you claim more and more examples of poor work are hitting the live server, Actions speak louder than any words you can say, your actions are showing the facts as they are.

    bull.. I power insultator and an emitter array in there along with the assimilated module.. in fact, I would have liked one more science slot on my defiant-r.. now I have 2 slots and like 4 total consoles I could put in there and less that I can use in engineering.

    Right.. cuz the +13 shield regen emitter amplifier (i.e. increasing efficiency of the shield emitters) is now a science department's job... right?

    anyone at cryptic ever seen Star Trek??

    The only ship to suffer this 'shift' was the SOV, all my other fed ships equipped with the FG, are still in their Engineer slot.

    But it now sucks space dust, because it shifted out a very important console that was being used in Sci. part.

    And someone did a give a warning about it too, before today's event.
