The effect of the console however, is also not correct due to another bug that was made by Cryptic (Cryptic is aware of this) and you will get a greatly reduced effect from the console (it is granting +35 shield skill instead of +35% shield health which is a drastic effectiveness difference)..
I was getting the 35% bonus before.
That would pretty much make it useless.
I been playing with it.
It definately increases my skill based shield stat on my Alt.
With it installed I get an extra 658 shield strength points.
Without it my shield is 8086 and with it is 8734.
Before the patch I was over 10,000 shield points.
On the other side of the coin I am noticing my ship resists against all damage types have been given a massive 10% + boost. Not sure why.
This begs another question. Is this new change to the console "working as intended"?
P.S. If you had one of these installed before the patch and it is gone look in your overflow bag.

This is NOT true... When you first Log into the game, yes it stays in your Eng. slots... Though once you either Beam to your ship, or play any mission, they automaticaly go into your OVERFLOW BAG in the Inventory Window... WHY???
What in the world are they doing in Los Gatos?
I'm not sure how they'll fix it though yet as +35 shield skill seems to be approximately 25% of the boost you used to get from the console before they tried changing it from the examples I've seen. So very roughly +140 shield skill would be equivalent in Cryptic skill math if there isn't a significant diminishing returns penalty (rough guess on my part).
I don't think it's a victim of that. PvPers loved those consoles. I think it's just a victim of a consistently poor development path. The same types of decisions that led to most useful science powers being neutered are just doing their thing here to useful consoles.
If the Dev's would just take a minute to think of instead of reacting, they would stop over-reacting.
Now they can put it in Science and free up an Engineering socket for something actualy useful like more Armor(s) or SIF, and still keep the field emitter.
Then.. there is that bit about converting the Field Emitter to +Skill rather than keeping flat percentage. That I do kind of question.
This has cost me between 2500 (on escort) and almost 4000 (on science ship) Shield HP per shield facing.
By far the most drastic nerf to any console to date.
To top it all off, on 2 out of my 6 Fed chars the console disappeared entirely
That comment you posted from Geko sounds as this was done unintentionally. So PLS Devs change this back ASAP.
MY shields are paper thin right now
Cryptic ?
the most important now is : most DPS in pvp for win !!!
GG Cryptic
And you'll most likely have to restart the game to actually get the overflow bag to open.
nope, i didn't.
but its no long adds capacity to your shield... sucks they need to fix it the field gen has been badly nerfed. this is bad bad bad my shield are so weak its worthless. come fix it put it back the it was . please.
This is what the field emitter should have been like from day one. In fact, it wasn't that long ago(well ok, maybe a year or more ago) a few complained how everyone would default and get the field emitter. I don't know of a single person(prior to this change) that didn't have one, PvP or PvE alike. Basically, everyone was -1 Eng slot because of them. What was the point? Now if you don't have one, not that big of a deal anymore, you won't get that much more shielding vs. someone who will use one. It's all about balance.
Now that it's also a sci console, it makes sci a little more valuable than it did before. Sci slots was just for my universal consoles, and a few other actual sci consoles I didn't really care about. Now, they are in line with the other slots, especially when you can now stack the field emitter also.
This makes more sense than it did before IMO.
I might swap a capacity console for an actually decent resilience console that mitigates the damage impacting my shields.
devs you keep changing stuff from week to week... makes me respec that TRIBBLE ia not cheap STOP IT. i want to stay with one set up not to keep changing. the 2 eng consoles dont belong to sci . un nerf it and fix please please

Well this is encouraging at least.
Of course now I have to re-arrange all my consoles and see if I can exploit having more ENG slots open....
It's hard for Cryptic these days to keep their facts straight. So its no big surprise that what they said would happen did not happen.
my bet is they are all entering the drawing to be the first in the library.
