If you reside in, or have an IP address originating from, one of the above countries, you will not be able to play PWE games or create a PWE account. These countries are banned for legal/administrative reasons.
Not sure how this affects Cryptic's games, though.

If you got an email from PWE inviting you to play RH, then it stands to reason you already have a PWE account and thus are not in a banned region or your IP address does not originate from such.
Dont worry we know its a Cryptic problem, the same exact issue happens ocasionally when trying to connect to one of their games, Champions Online, and has been happening for months. The only solution we got, and it was fixed by other users, is uploading the Champions Online.exe from someone who doesn't have this problem so the other users can download it and overwrite their's. Had to do that three times with CO and worked every time..
And it seems to work, so please if you or anyone else can upload it to megaupload, rapidshare or something like that and share it here, it would be much apreciated.
this is getting boring and stupid...there is no direct simple answer to this issue...bottom line is we cant play cant connect cant anything. waste of time and its making us hate your game.

I agree100%. The only time I get to play these days is on the weekends, and because of this error I haven't been able to get on at all.:mad:
its the same for me and i have tried for nearly four hours to get it working and its the same problem all the time and i have tried everything in the support for both cryptic and perfectworld and even reinstalled the game and its still not working any clues on what to do?
they say ip s are banned but not in america well im in the midwest of america but i get the same problem have been for 5 days till today now im getting a patch error now been playing non stop since feb i just wanna log on i cant do that and now cust support is not even asnswering emails and i havent been rude yet except for telling them reapetdly that my launcher wont open and i was getting replys like force virify or shut off on demand patching well another email out my launcher wont open 7 e-mails telling them the same thing i sent them every log i could find even the diaxlog and hijck and so on now nothing not even the auto responses that say you will have a reply in however many hours i dont even get those now wtf
Well I keep getting the same message everybody else is "the patchclient got a message while it was in a state with no response function" and after trying 3 reinstalls and several other user posted possible remedies I have just deleted the game and wont be back. Its too bad because when it was working it was a lot of fun but clearly the admin is far more concerned with other things than with whether or not their game actually works

I must be one of the lucky ones. I patched today just fine, but after the patch, I cant play the game. I just lag disconnect about every five minutes. Tried to play an STF tonight, and my ship wouldnt even move. I restarted my computer twice and power cycled my router and modem three times, thinking it was just my wife in the other room on the laptop sucking up bandwidth, but that is now not the case. I've never been one to threaten to leave a game because of issues like this, but seriously, its getting old now. After all the money I (and a LOT of other people) have spent on this game, issues like this should be fixed with all due haste. I guess I will see what things look like tomorrow after work.

It was suppposed to be my first time playing this game, but this error keeps on popping when I click STO icon,
a small msg box appears and says "trying to update the launcher pls be patient" and after a few minutes a another msg box appears saying "patch client got a messgae while it is in a state with no response function"
pls tell us how to fix this kind of error.. im begging for the team of tech support to respond..
I'd imagine it is the same error. There seems to be a lot of people all getting the same issue at roughly the same time.
I'm going to try the .exe swapping when I get home, but according to the replies in other threads thats not helping even though it has done in the past. I'll update after making the attempt.
@Sogdog666 You would be correct in assuming the EXE swapping is a waste... well..not a total waste. It works for some but not others. In my particular instance I tried 2 different sources and neither worked on my end. Although I was not experiencing the 'response error' message, untill I tried to open the launcher via desktop. But it only happened once so it really must be one in the same.
@Bannon... I've played on and off for a little while but to wait months for no fix? You've got waaaay more patience then I. This has happened to me only once and just in the last two days.

I was curious when everyone else got it for the first time.
You can find the log in the pcl.txt file in your cryptic game folder. I noted that the times shown are server time, and not your own local time.
Maybe if we get enough data on when it first happened it might help the tech people figute out what changed.

Seems like there might be hope after all.

Yep, this is a known issue with the ISP for the servers, Cogentco. For some players, it doesn't seem to like their IP addresses and their ping, connection drops a lot.
Our engineers and other departments are working on a solution and hopefully something gets fixed like routing those players to a different ISP for the game servers, like to Internap instead of Cogentco.
They are putting a list together and giving the ones reporting the issue to the engineers everyday.

I did check my tracert and I do indeed get routed through Cogentco.
So it might be an idea to check if yours does too, and if so send down that ticket and hope they come up with a workaround soonish.

I think maybe it is. I am from Perth and before F2P had no issues, now I cannot play unless I connect to a US VPN server.
