the servers at hops 5 and 6 appear to have had transporter accidents and are buried in tribbles. more than one person on the east coast has had problems as a result.

Try substituting the 'pathping' command for the 'tracert' command (both use the same syntax) and post the results, as this will show if you are suffering from 'dropped packets' along your connection route...

I currently live on a college campus that uses a 500Mb fiber demarc. I have been having a reoccurring issue of lag when piloting through ESD, STF's, and fleet mark maps. I can see what everyone is doing but when this issue happens my commands are delayed by 5-20 seconds while i am rubber-banding. I have no other issues with internet connectivity, Teamspeak works fine with no distortion and when i play other MMO's that do not suffer the same issue.

I tired to capture the issue when i noticed a delay in my commands.

One thing this does remind me of, is when i used to play eve online. CCP had an issue where players would sometimes suffer desync when playing. This issue is very similar to what I experienced in the past, where you as the player would have a hard time controlling your ship (the server thinks your in one place while the client states another). After they investigated this issue it turned out that a node owned by an ISP in the UK was slowly failing. After they notifies the ISP that the problem was located it was fix within days.

I've been experiencing severe lag and rubber-banding since Sunday, I have confirmed that some other people in Europe are experiencing the same.

Our old friend Cogentco seems to be the culprit once more:
    UK, Talktalk.
I agree that it seems to be cogent. I'm getting the same and have been all week as have several of my EU friends.
The issues whatever they are, seem to be intermittent. My ping is going from 100ms ( not bad from the UK) then suddenly doubling or more as soon as it hits cogent. I have also seen tracert's give me readouts where I'm hitting cogent at hop 10 or so and being bounced around cogent until the tracert gives up at hop 30!
The normal baseline is something like this

The latency for me is still pretty bad, even logging in to post this took quite a while. I can't download the nettest program, the 'net's just too laggy for me. Hopefully, if anyone else is having this kind of horror show latency, it's resolved soon.

A over 2 second lag on the second hop indicates that something is seriously wrong with your Router/Modem Gateway. Reboot/Power cycle the unit and see if that improves the performance. If it doesn't, you will need to call Verizon Tech Support, and have them send someone out to take a look at the unit...

I'm from Singapore and have been playing both STO and Champs for years now. Never had a problem with lag or rubberbanding until this week. Suddenly, big space battles like Crystalline Entity and Starbase Fleet Defense that I could play a week ago are now totally unplayable. I am also getting randomly kicked off with "disconnected from gameserver" messages when I move from one map to another map.

Here's my tracert (my IP has been masked out)

Hello, I was playing STO with no issues upto yesterday, then I started to getting server disconnect symptoms but there wasn't any red countdown on the top of the screen. My toon would sit there in sector space and I could spin my ship but it wouldn't move anywhere,i could access menus but couldn't turn in doff assignments, refine dip and I couldn't transwarp anywhere.
I have resettled my router and modem, even wired my PC straight into the modem and was having the same issues. I have ran tracert and neatest. All good.
the odd thing is it's happeningon a couple goons but not all of them.
    Any ideals?

    Update***
after force verifying and not finding anything I checked my drivers for my networking card and rolled back, issue still persisted, game test and some goons were unplayable, the couple that were playable were only that for a few minutes. Thought maybe something in the game got corrupted, uninstall and reinstalled, download was extremely slow only a few Mb in a half hour. Went thru settings on launcher and saw I was using US proxy, switched Eu,down load took off and completed 13 gig patch in bout an hour.
started game again, had to end program bout 6 7 times cause it got stuck on cryptic screen. Went to Av and firewall temp turned off, no change, but every restart of launcher would allowed the progress bar to gain a little. Finally got into game...NO FRIKKIN CHANGE!!!
exited out and checked the launcher settings, patches were EU proxy and game was US proxy, changed game to use EU proxy and the game was playable, with a little rubber banding.

Nope, not all good. Readings for the 1st and 3rd Column of the 'Net Test' should be in the 300 - 500 KB/sec or better range. and many of your results are below this...

So the 'Net Test' is showing that you have a connection quality issue of some kind, but the question remains on what is causing the problem...

Now if you could run the 'pathping' diagnostic, which has the same syntax as the 'tracert' command...

Since you already checked everything local, this is most likely either a ISP, or a Internet Backbone Provider issue. (And with either one, you can't do anything yourself to correct the problem. The only purpose of the Network Diagnostics is to provide some valid information when you complain to your ISP...) It could still be a router/modem/gateway issue, but the 'pathping' will provide enough info to rule this out one way or the other. Its unlikely to be a STO Server issue, as I've had no problems this week playing STO...

so the 'pathping' shows that its the Cogent Backbone that is dropping the packets on your connection...

You could try using the 'Proxy' options in the STO Launcher Option menu, as this may, or may not, divert your connection path to something that avoids the Cogent network congestion...

Please note that the authenticator is acting just like it did during the big crash of 3/21.

    Thanks,
