Also Klingons will be getting disruptors for turrets, Drones and Orbital Strike. In fact I'm working on them as I type this message.

i was just lementing that klingon turets and drones were all phaser weapons the other day, i'm SO glad this polish is being aplied. how about a green disruptor orbital strike too?!

Is this just a visual change, or will they have the Disruptor proc?

If the latter, would we be able to trade the relevant kits to the other faction? Giving Klingon characters Phaser kits and Federation characters Disruptor kits if the player wishes.

Some aren't kits, but BOff skills or Captain Abilities.

Since it was said that "Klingons will be getting" these, it sounds like it's some kind of blanket change where either Phaser Spawn powers simply become Spawn powers and spawn the faction-appropriate pet/FX (like how when your klingon uses "Security Escort" you don't have Feddies beam down), or alternately that different powers and abilities will be given to the different sides, and we'll start seeing kits being restricted by faction.

Otherwise he probably wouldn't have said that "Klingons will be getting" disruptor versions of these things, and instead would have just said "there will be disruptor versions of these things."

In the very thing you quote...

I don't understand the purpose of the human badge or the others we've seen so far; could be sowing the seeds of xenophobia.

*Hears the whispers of Terra Prime on ESD*

Well the badge is the 'united earth' Logo.

I don't see it being Xenophobic, it would be good for role-playing Civilians.

The Individual planets still have their own Culture under the Federation. Andoria is still Andoria, Vulcan is still Vulcan. They still would use those symbols to representation.

I'd compare it to the UN or EU, they're still individual Planets just united under one name.

Hell I wouldn't be surprised if on United Earth in Star Trek there were still flags of the old Nation states still waving about. I always thought of United Earth as like a country, the Nation's being States or Provinces of Earth.

    Edit:

And Now I realize you might have been being sarcastic. I had just woken up when I first typed this up, so I wasn't mentally sound. Sometimes its hard to tell sarcasm on these boards.

Awesome! I didn't even know this was on the radar, but it's great to hear something is being done. My KDF Engineer is much obliged. :D

I wonder if it could be made so that these are transferable but, preferably, account-bound.

This is one of those things like Bat'leth/Lirpa crafting. I think having a maxed out character of each faction should provide synergy through account-unlocks, account-bound items, etc.

Maybe introduce a crafting recipe for a wild KDF-Starfleet hybrid tech ship, usable by either faction, where the parts are account-bound and you need a Level 51, crafting-maxed alt on each side to use it.

    Fair points, well made.

Just hoping it would herald the full range of damage types being available to kit-based turrets.

Which is blatantly biased towards Engineers, I admit.

Although if everyone could get an Exocomp with a gun on it...

I'm interested in seeing some work done for Tactical Kits and Powers. They have always been exceptionally dull. As it is I just click them all as quickly as the cool down expires. The only strategy is waiting until you have the most active buffs to use your Expose/Exploit.

Three pages and no one has commented on the half-pic of a Combat Exocomp? C'mon, people! I doubt he just forgot it was onscreen...

Thomas the Cat has been trying to convince me to make an exocomp duty officer.

I'd love to see a exocomp in game as a duty officer. It would feel different.

Make it an engineer and make it improve subsystem repair.

In the off chance that there's a way to limit a particular boff race's usability in assignments, I might restrict exocomps. They were self aware, but they have pretty specialized capabilities and didn't appear to have more than rudimentary intelligence. Assigning them in Engineering makes a lot of sense, though, they were designed to be deployed as rapid repair teams.

I bet it would take ...

    50000 Quatloos

    ...(at least)

Edit: Or an federation Captain who gives the command "make it so"

Somewhere on these forums was the comment that the devs have figured out what was wrong and are fixing it. Basically they found out it wasnt scaling at all.

    Love the new turret though.

I'm pretty amenable, if we can get fitting art in the right format for it. That'd be the major sticking issue for cetecean ops as well.

Doubtful. The pic names the ability as "Gatling Phaser Burst Turret III". Sounds like it's a kit power. Or maybe a BO power.

I think the concept of using archaic terms like "Gatling" to describe a rotating barrel is silly for future tech. How about "phaser carbine" or " rapid fire phaser turret"?

Wasn't the Vor'Cha just this ship?

if you read/have the proper books, its actually the Qap'pa. Its sort of a galaxy hull with vorcha like wings and klingon warp nacelles. Somewhat cool looking actually.

Will any Horta be making the Duty list along with these? It helps legitimize them as part of the crew instead of just "attack critters".

& I LOVE the idea that you are trying to incorporate non-humanoids to the crew. I LOVE IT!

What would have really been epic is if they got 2 players both using the turrets and had the turrets shooting each other :p

It's clearly not a Gatling weapon, as the chief and identifying characteristic of any Gatling weapon is the multiple barrels.

That said, it is clearly not a carbine, either. A carbine is a longarm firearm shorter than a rifle, usually purpose built for vehicle mounted troops.

A multiple "barreled" (not necessarily rotating) phaser weapon would be pretty killer, though.

If you look closely at the photo, its called Phaser Burst Turret III. That's why Stahl used gatling in quotes, because it's not actually part of the name.

I could definitely see a cetecean as some kind of Science DOff, and Exocomps and Horta could come both in Engineer and Sci DOff varieties.
