In the year 2408 after the Klingon and Gorn invade Cestus III a Starfleet Committee chaired by Admiral Jorel Quinn passed motion to explore other options and possibilities in order to build up the Federation with commanders and ships. "We need to promote exceptional officers quickly. We need our captains leading away teams. Starfleet needs to look at our whole command structure and do what works now, not what worked 30 years ago."

A Starfleet diplomat was sent back to the late 2260's to speak with Starfleet in order to round up several possible exceptional commander candidates and as many star ships as they could refurbish from the decommissioned roster. This section 31 operation was known as Projct Christopher after the 1960's aiforce officer that was beamed aboard the USS Enterprise.

In order to not affect the time continuum the only way to choose worthy captains out of their own time and bring them to the future is to find all those that have no future. The captains must be about to die and taken from circumstances seconds before they meet their demise. They now have to accept that they have no past but have been given a new future. These are members of the ghost fleet.

The chosen captains were given ships that were pre programmed with precise calculations in order to carry out the light-speed breakaway factor to artificially-created time warp in order to time travel back to the 2408.

Once the initial five captain were sent, Starfleet would keep their eye out for any such qualified command personnel to join the fleet and to help fight the war in the future.
    You may be that commander!

Hehheheheh! By then we will be able to add more ranks on the fleet manager. The top rank will be Bones Lower Half and Bones Upper half and Vice McCoy :)

Seriously we could just get rid of the cadet position and move it to the top. The important this in that if anyone wants to help out and do some behind the scenes fleet work of in-game leadership we move them to the Fleet Admiral position.

We are all part of this fleet and we all have a say in the direction.

If you are around DS9 this evening at 6:00 EST put on your TOS uniform and meet us at Quark's Bar and we are having a bit of a birthday celebration!

It has been two months since a forum topic on the STO website spawned this fleet. What better way for a bunch of time displaced kirk types to celebrate than to descend upon Quark's @ DS9 for Daboo, a bit of trivia and a new fleet picture (the last one only had five members).

May 31st (tonight) at 9pm EST, be there.

Fleet Uniform required for fleet picture. (see Fleet Uniform page for any questions)

Following the bar fight that is sure to close Quark's we can break off into teams for various mission or private challenges.

We drink to the health of the Federation and to the stars we are lucky enough to call home.

Hey, thanks for asking the question.

Higher level folks do use ships beyond the Connie, though we also have plans to run some Connie missions, do some Connie PvP, and buzz ESD in formation. Those of us who have access to the TOS uniforms use them as fleet uniforms, but we also realize not everyone does. Nor does everyone have a Connie or the interior. So the real official fleet uniform is a nod ot the TOS one.

The biggest way that TOS is a part of the fleet is that our backstory is focused on the TOS era. In that sense, the TOS theme is more about storytelling than leveling and more about enjoying a shared interest than dictating how people need to play or what they need to purchase. We're also open to anyone who is a TOS fan but also wants to incorporate elements from other series/time periods as well.

We mostly focus on our shared love of TOS. A lot of us have memories of watching during the early or mid 70s (and a few in the late 60s, when the episodes were first broadcast), of putting together Connie models, or running around with our plastic phasers and tricorders (I was just doing that this last weekend). We hope we're keeping some of the TOS spirit alive as well.

    Hope that answers your question.

If you or anyone else wants to stop by our two-month anniversary tonight (May 31) at 9pm EST at Quarks on DS9. You can see firsthad what sorts of people and players we are.

Also, see our blog for a little bit of the developing storyline behind our fleet:

And our website is now setup so you can come aboard:

Oh I see what you are asking!

The connie thing is just for show, like an old car show where people park in a mall parking lot or do a parade. That sort of thing it is not meant to be mandatory or the only ship you fly.

With the backstory (rollpaying) part of the fleet most of us came forward in time with connies and immediately retrofitted them and got new 25th century ships and uniforms. We only get them out when we are doing PvP’s or some of the fleet actions and want to balance out (level the playing field) the match a wee bit or if we are using our new characters or lower level characters that we are trying to level. We all love out Vice Admirals but the game is over a year old and some of us are building up our Alts and creating new characters.

To recap… No rules, none of the TOS stiff is mandatory and we can use whatever we want. Some of us just feel a little nostalgic to use the TOS hand phaser or TOS phaser rifle.

“Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid” oops, wrong movie.

If you are over 30 then we may have a fleet for you!

We are a "mature" fleet with members from 29-60 and we all have work, home improvements and family that cut into our STO time! A balance is always good so we are a casual fleet. We are only 2 months old but we now have 30 active players and all of us are social first and game second. A really great group of people if I do say so myself ;)

We are not an ordinary fleet where you have to beg to move up in ranks we have a ranking system that is based on your in-fleet rank so if you are a Captain in game you have earned the Fleet rank of Captain. If you want to be more involved then we will make you Fleet Admiral and put you to work!

We are trying to have a variety of options so there is some Roleplay (RP) and fleet missions and player on player (pvp). For the RP we have made up a continuing background storyline where officers from the 23rd century that are about to die are scooped up and taken to the 25th century to fight in the war. We have all been working on our bios to fit that storyline (but it is not mandatory)

We all love TOS but since we are in the 25th century now we can use and play with all of the new toys and ships but nothing is more fun to us than to do a pvp all with our TOS Constellation Class or hang out in Quarks with TOS uniforms and start a fight with all of the spinoff supporters (I am talking about the show Joey;)

Star Trek Online The Original Series (TOS) Veterans Fleet is dedicated to the greatness that is the original series, Star Trek, from which all other Trek flows!

The TOS Veterans Fleet is for mature casual players in their 30's and 40's that wish to participate in fun, fellowship and sharing of STO knowledge.

We recently had our two-month anniversary celebration and it was a blast. If you like to have fun with other friendly, helpful, interesting people with full lives beyond the game, give us a try.

We are a mature fleet with an interest in maintaining the spirit of the original series through gameplay and the use of TOS era uniforms and equipment in game.

Please see the blog for a little bit of the developing storyline behind our fleet:

We are either 30 something or 40 something so you may define us as mature.

We have started this fleet to create a relaxed fleet for casual or active members with an emphasis on fun and a strong social aspect. It is expected that captains may bail out of a mission to return to Starbase Mariner 10 in order to make lunches, dinner or feed the baby. To us family like is as important as the prime directive. That is a non Kirk version of the Prime Directive!

Very few rules and everyone have a say in the direction of the fleet. We do have one wish that all members have the TOS uniform for Fleet actions and possible a 23rd century Ship and you are familiar with our Fleet backstory. We understand that all members may not be into the roll playing but just humour us and build your character bio to correspond. http://sto-tos.blogspot.com/

We are under the philosophy that everyone had their own gifts and abilities to bring to the fleet so if you wish to be active in forming the fleet in any way please let us know. Also know that you are more than welcome to just be a part of the fleet.

Been in this fleet a few weeks and its a great fleet to be in.

It's great that the fleet only accepts people over 30. I've been in a number of fleets that throw about the term 'mature' but true maturity comes with age and experience. That's our only rule. That's it and it works.

    Come see for yourself.

If you have played the game for over than a year.... looking for something a little different..... you liked solo play so you never really thought of a fleet...... maybe start a new caracter and don't want to grind him up the levels alone...... thought about jointing a fleet but never found one that fit you..... wanted to try to meet new people in similar work and family life situations....

Look no further! The TOS Veterans Fleet is a relaxed fleet for people over 30 years young with a need to be part of a social community where you can be involved as much as you like inside and outside of the game. We are trying to cater for every playing style and we have as many experienced players as newbies.*

Please check out out website at http://www.TOSFLEET.com and look at our blog where we are outing together a storyline to try to justify why we have so many captains with 250 year old uniforms on. Surely it can't be because we can't afford some modern outfits!!*http://sto-tos.blogspot.com/

This is a new fleet! We wanted a mature relaxed fleet where our families came first and the fleet came second. We found a group of people with a lot in common and have a lot of fun.

Most of us are life members so we wanted something that will last a lifetime. Everyone has a say in the direction of the fleet and we are all equals.

The ranking system is based off of our in-game ranks. I figured if you became a Captain in-game that you deserve that same respect in the fleet.

We are a Roll Playing fleet where we are working on a backstory to justify older 23rd century uniforms in the 25th century and it is helping us to craft our bios.

    Hi all,

TOS Veterans Fleet is still new and so we're open to suggestions and ideas about how we do what we do. It's the people who join who will determine which directions we go.

We're increasing our organization but there's always room for people who want to become involved in leading the fleet. On the other hand, we're happy to have friendly members on board who just want to socialize and play STO.

Ultimately, we're hoping to find mature (30+), friendly, creative people who have an interest in classic Trek and a desire to share that interest and have fun with STO. We have a TOS theme, but can make room for a lot of creative backstories within it.

Just wanted to say that, as I get to know people in this fleet, I'm more and more enthusiastic about it. We're a friendly, mature, experienced group. We may not be experts on the game or even TOS, but we aim to share the fun of STO and Trek.

We're still forming this fleet, and even though we have a backstory, it's not written in stone. Contributions are welcome. Some of us enjoy informal PvP. There are a few aspiring role players and fiction writers among us. And we take occasional runs at the STFs.
