MAG/INT: 50 points of magic increases the energy recovery rate by 1/sec

so shouldnt i just finish that 50 mag points? b:surrender

or should i distribute it to different areas like strength and vit and dex ect...

I would stop at 50 for now. Later on you might want to add more...however...Look at the skills you are going to get. Some need str, some need dex etc to increase a certain effect of the skill. For example Holy Path skill will need Dex attributes to increase the duration of the skill.

In a sense...depends on your skills more then anything.

Thanks so much for this guide. I just wish I had read it BEFORE. I'm a noob and I thought the genie was useless because it was the white one and the skill was only useful flying. As I'm not at that level yet I decomposed the genie not realizing I could later unlearn the skill or add new ones.

Now I want to get one back and I have the stone I received in return. But I can't seem to get a new one from the Watcher of the Earth (Venomancer) in the City of the Lost.

How can I get a new genie? Do I need something more than the EXP stone I received when decomposing? And can I pick my starting genie?

You can get a new Genie from the Watcher of the Earth with 3 mirages stones. With the 3 mirage stones, you will be able to pick which of the 4 Genies you would like. You can then use the decomposed EXP Cube to help level up your Genie.

Thanks very much. I know now it was a stupid move. Now, hopefully I can get the 3 mirage celestones before I get too much further and lose ground on the genie leveling/skills. I have a lot of fragments and I THINK I can turn in a certain amount (25) for 1 mirage at a gem merchant but I'm still working on finding one (or another NPC) that makes the trade. It doesn't seem available at any of the NPCs in the cities I've been.

I'll work on that part. Thanks again for your help. I appreciate the quick response.

You can exchange your Celestones at the Gem Merchant. This NPC is usually located near the Banker in all major cities.

    Nice manual.

'Cause that's what it is --- apparently it explains how genies work (I don't have one, so I have no clue whether it's good or not). Contrary to the subject, however, it completely lacks a "guide" section.

Of course, the usual excuse for making a guide that doesn't provide guidance is the good old "you can choose whatever skills you want, and raise the stats according to your preferences". Great. I don't need a guide to randomly place things since I don't know how it all fits into the bigger picture.

Even class guides, which are often very reluctant on the guiding part as well, do try to provide some ideas about placing stats, and even try to judge the skills.

It kind of sad to see how things have degenerated over the years --- game manuals no longer exist, and are replaced by "guides". To compensate for this, guides no longer guide, they just explain the facts like a manual would. Actual guides seem to be rare these days.

Still, as a manual it doesn't look bad at all. A bit repetitive at times, probably to make it look bigger.
Slow progress, game is getting way too grindy :-( Quests I still hope to be able to do some day: FB39, General Feng

If you do not have a Genie then you do not get it. Go get one. and my reluctance to "tell" people what skills to get has a reason. Each skill is based off str, dex, vit, etc. If you get skills with all different attribute additions, then you are going to have a seriously gimped Genie. Also, each class has skills that require different things, in terms of attribute distribution, because of the skills that are specific to their class.

I would much rather people rely on their class community to help them build a Genie then me tell them what to use. I could do a skill distribution however, there is a link for all of the skills and their descriptions in this Guide. But I thank you for your imput.

"...a guide tells people how to do something, whereas the scope of
a manual can extend to specifying how they MUST do that something, and to
providing extensive data---overlapping the province of a handbook."

who exactly do you talk to to "feed" your genie the stones?

Once you have chi stones you just drag it to the Genie in your inventory. You can do this while equipped. It is the same thing as re-fueling your Aero-gear.

Go to the Watcher of the Earth and there will be an option to "Learn Skill."

You have to drag your Genie into the box at the top left of the skill box (make sure to unequip then drag it).

Once there, the skills will pop up for you to see.

Now, all of the skills will come up, the highlighted ones means that you have the Affinity Points set to learn the particular skill, while the grayed out ones means you do not have the proper Affinities set.

You can always look and find the ones that you want before you set your Affinities to ensure that you get the skills that you want.

    Glad to hear!!

Feel free to post any further questions.

Side Note --> This guide is up-to-date, the Guide I made for the PWI-Wiki is as it was for the entry. I have made attempts to try and get it unlocked it so that I can make the changes to no avail thus far. Once I get that taken care of, the Wiki will also be up-to-date. I requested it be locked unless I make a change so that not too many people can mess with it b:surrender

HELP! Everyone keeps saying to just "drag the chi stone to the genie." I do that, and it asks if I want to drop the stone. Then I try dragging it to the icon showing her on my stat screen, and it just shows back up into the bag. Do I need to place the genie back into my bag to feed it?

Drag it to the Genie "slot" in your equipment/inventory.

    Does that make sense?

You do not have to drag the stone out of your inventory...

I have made it clear that I try not to give Genie build advice. This is because, as you mentioned, there are so many possibilities and each class tends to have their own way of building.

I would recommended looking in the Psychic section of the forum, as I have seen a few threads regarding your question(s).

However, I would recommend you getting a Dex genie. This is better for skills like Holy Path and Extreme Poison 9which most tend to take early on.

You can change the Affinities with a Stone of Refreshment.

You can get from the Boutique, Another player selling or I believe you get one free once your Genie gets to a certain level (level 80 I think) (like the Genie exp cubes you get from the NPC).

If it is for 1 Affinity...not worth it.

I personally did very little to my Genie until about level 90+

The I would most likely suggest a restat >_>

However, pick skills before you place...it is kind of a pain in the rear, but worth it to not have to restat too often.

However, I would recommend you getting a Dex genie. This is better for skills like Holy Path and Extreme Poison 9which most tend to take early on.
If you intend to have a genie that supplements the Holy Path skill, get a Zeal (magic affinity).
Holy Path genies rely on heavy magic (not heavy dex), to increase the benefit you gain from said skill.

Personally, i agree that this guide could use more thorough skill explaination, probably grouped by stats affinity. (there really isnt much knowledge about the benefits of most skills around on the forums)

At any rate, apart from some missinformative details the guide is okay for getting to know a genie.
You may want to change the effects of dex in the guide, as it does not affect over time skills, its effects are identical to str, except its used by mostly different skills.

In the guide it also mentioned that the starting genie wont matter.
This is only true at first, when your genies stats are low.
Below stats 40-45 increasing a stats could costs 1 stats point, where as above it costs 2 stats point, per 1 stats increase.
For the genies affinity however, it costs 1 point below 55.
So your starting genie will matter if you decide to raise any of the stats above 45.
