Arcane VS L.A. ONCE AND FOR ALL!

ONCE AND FOR ALL, let's discuss, debate, and determine which is a better build, Arcane VS L.A. for Wizards.

I'm tired of the forum disputes on the forums, tired of the disputes in-game, and tired of hearing about 'pure' or 'light' wizards builds on OTHER rpgs! Once and for all, already understanding that Wizards @ 9X are extremely powerful, which would win? Arcane VS L.A.?

It shouldn't be too hard to determine a winner, since Perfect World only has four stats, (which makes the game incredibly strategic, which is genius, btw developers...), so please post as long and as detailed as you want. :) Also post links to any videos or any in depth discussions concerning this topic. I want to be the best of the best.

Some of the things I'm interested in are:

PVPing. (most important...)
TW's. (very important...)
Kicking ****. (Duh?)
Having fun. (Both builds are pathetic until endgame, so IDC about that...)
Helping others.

Also if I could get a character calculator example, one being Arcane with the best Arcane armor and another being LA with the best LA, (No rings, belts, etc, as these all are very personal opinions, I think, but feel free to post on what rings belts etc an LA or Arcane should wear to even out the match a bit...), that would be GREAT. :)

Here are some random things I know about both builds:

Arcane:
More damage.
More resist to mdef.
Less crit hit.
Less pdef.

L.A.:
Damn good pdef. (Stone Barrier much?)
Damage less than Arcane. (but not by much)
Better crits.
Better phys attacks. (but wizzies don't need this...)
HH90 Green Light set?
Better at PVP.
Better at dealing with other classes.

And finally, I know one thing is for sure, and that is that at ninety everyone goes pure. Crazy idea, but what are other things I can do at 9X? I know you can get to 105, so that's 55 extra points that an LA wiz can do what the hell ever with. (That's what I am so far, wondering if I should switch...?) 55 points could go straight into magic, but I'm thinking about putting some of those 55 into vit or maybe even dex, since LA has higher dex in the first place? Or is that worth it? Maybe I should just dump all into mag to even out the damage ratio btw Arcane VS LA? I don't know, feel free to rant about any sort of 'hybrid' builds that I could do to **** at 9X, and of course which build is better. Let's end the debates! :) Thanks guys for all input :)

Also if Perfect World ever does expand levels to 150, how would that change things? Imagine the possibilities!

    Uh... that is exactly the reason why I'm posting this now at level 27, instead of when it's level 99 and my stats are already set.

    But you can always restat you points. But I recommend to go with LA and then around LV 85+ restat to Pure. But while you will come to lv 80+ it takes months and months of playing. It will be new race here, abilities, maybe new map. Everything will be different. So You have lot of time to choose your path. b:victory

    PVPing. (most important...)
    LA > Arcane before level 90
    Arcane > LA since P def gets diminishing returns. whereas robes give + stats which are more useful to you.

    TW's. (very important...)
    Varies but... this is nearly the same as sage/demon in TW... both are good at killing....in different ways.
    Arcane > LA They expect you to be killing not taking hits.

    Kicking ****. (Duh?)
    Arcane even during the low levels if your a smart wizard you would know to simply ambush em in the back and run if they survive.

    Having fun. (Both builds are pathetic until endgame, so IDC about that...)
    Helping others.
    LA > Arcane during the lower levels as kiting for hours on end sucks....
    Arcane > LA at helping others more damage = more helpful. d(^.-d)

    My wiz is only lvl 35 but from what I've understood L.A. will give you more survivability until you get TT90 arcane (which is full of Vit/Hp/P.def ~ gold wrists + green pants b:dirty) at which point you restat to pure for extra~awesome DD.

    My wiz is LA (5% crit at lvl 35 b:pleased)

    Let's not forget sharding has alot to do with survivability..and blues.. I guess you can get comparable p.def with a good +p.def A.A. sharded with p.def gems to what L.A. is while not compromising M.def

    It's a constant debate which is best (like with the shards..)
    I guess I'd have to make a new AA wiz to see what the diff really is..

    On a side note, while my Wiz is mainly L.A., I also carry A.A. for magic mobs
    At lvl 35 I've been able to solo all my own bosses (except for FB's ~ didn't try those) Even Yansheng at the mines..

    And all this time I thought Wizzy's were squishy b:chuckle

    At lv 86 LA all i notice is this:

    They have to gank me in TW to kill me (survivability ftw)

    I can't really kill anyone solo unless I crit (12% isn't often enough really); however I still hit HA/LA classes for 1.7-2k with gush, about double that with SS, so when I assist-attack we still get the job done.

    Still, LA vs Pure up to lv 90 is preference. @90 there's no excuse for being LA, check pwicalc, look at the adds you can get on OHT gear (my wrists: 94pdef, 94def, 105HP & haven't started making hats yet), HH top & pants all with garnets = same p.def as LA, 2k more m.damage (that + sage/demon skills = 800+ extra damage in PvP).

    You are thinking about damage reduction percentage.

    But damage reduction percentage is... well...

    Let's say you have 2000 health.

    If you have 16% damage reduction, 2380 damage will kill you
    If you have 29% damage reduction, 2816 damage will kill you
    If you have 41% damage reduction, 3389 damage will kill you
    If you have 50% damage reduction, 4000 damage will kill you
    If you have 58% damage reduction, 4761 damage will kill you
    If you have 65% damage reduction, 5714 damage will kill you
    If you have 70% damage reduction, 6666 damage will kill you
    If you have 75% damage reduction, 8000 damage will kill you
    If you have 79% damage reduction, 9523 damage will kill you
    ...
    If you have 100% damage rediction, you would not take damage.

    Your "diminishing returns" were because you were getting closer and closer to 100% damage reduction.

    yea... it's called diminishing return and it does exist o.o'. you need ever more physical defense to even get it up 1% more as you get more and more phyiscal defense.

    Also 700 defense will make a difference even if the present does not go up. PWI does not use incremental damage reduction, look around on the forums or test it out yourself if you don't believe me.

    Also notice in Cholla's post that the greater the % the more damage you can take, this does not improve linearly.

    This is why a vit build will have better defense then a LA build.

    So robes vs LA... im gonna add 2 other builds into the mix for your consiteration. Vit Robes, and HA/robes mix

    and HA - http://pwcalc.ru/pwi/?char=5c00f0626ac18ed4 - better pdef and worse mdef then vit, about the same damage.

    if your goal is to survive until you can drop a ultimate on someone/hordes of ppl consiter these ^_^
    light/vit/HA does about 89% of the damage a pure would do for casting ultimates (earth/water), and 82% for gush.

    I think (s)he means that the displayed % in character screen is rounded for ease, when I guess it is rounded... but it's rounded because you cant have half a percent... so it's either 50% reduction or 51% reduction... so I don't know where your argument comes from.

    Arcane is the only way, Wizard LA aren't useful, low attack, low magic defense, low life, medium fisical defense.

    There are only two ways and all are arcane:

    Full atack wizard (full mag), superatack, super magical defense, medium-low phisical defense, bad life.

    Hibrid wizard (vit and mag), good atack, medium life, good magical defense, medium-low physical defense.
