That would be so awesome... I can just imagine all the pony pics to go along with "Thread closed". b:dirty[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Also, each moderator should have different timezone or schedule to each other, so there will be no vacant moment like now where the spammer can spam intensely for a few hours.
If all moderators have different schedule from one to another, there will be, at least, one moderator actively watching the forum.
If they can't afford to hire new or more active moderators, they should settle down with some other solutions to fight the spammers, such as Captcha.
im sure that if the staff at pwi asked some people who r active on the forms and who really like perfect world there would be alot of people who could moderate the servers for free.0 -
It's good idea, but I think this forum needs maybe tens mods who spend days and weeks with reading, erasing posts and banning users. Who want to do this for long time?
It would be better if some "moderator's roles" or "rights" can have every user and in each post will be "voting buttons":
+1
-1
spam/flame/defective
Posts with many "+1" make his users good reputation, posts with many "-1" bad rep and post marked as "spam" (for example 20x) will be automaticaly deleted or hide and the user get bad rep.
This work on many other forums, why not here? It will be good for mods and users, because mods will have time for communication with user, answer questions and solve or resend problems and wishes to devs.0 -

No.
If you enjoy pressing like/dislike buttons so much, go back to Facebook, YouTube or whatever else. We really don't need any more pregenerated opinions waiting for us. This is a forum; you can use your writing skills to express your opinion.
As for the spammers, many easy-to-implement solutions have been suggested already. The fact that the PWE high-ups don't care is the only reason they continue to roam about.0 -

Do you have a job? Do you work 80 hours a week in customer service? If so; would you like to be told you don't care because you don't want to work another 10 hours a week?
Many of the solutions suggested are from people who've never owned a domain or administrated or modded forum software, and even if so; probably not for a large scale business.
You don't know that they don't care. You're just being an *** and assuming.0 -

I'm just going to leave this here for you to read.frankieraye wrote: »Thank you all for suggesting ideas to help fight spam; removing it from the forums is a top priority for us.
While I will not go into depth about what methods we are currently using and planning on using in the near future, I will talk about a few of the suggestions that you guys brought up here.
1. User registration CAPTCHA
This could theoretically work, however, it would be a very broad stroke to solve the problem. We're trying to come up with a solution that would not have such a large effect on the entire legitimate player population. The idea of forcing every single potential user to complete a CAPTCHA is not acceptable to us -- a lot of actual people have trouble with CAPTCHAs and, as others have pointed out, CAPTCHAs aren't 100% bot-proof anyway.
2. Thread creation CAPTCHA
This would be great, I completely agree. However, with our version of vBulletin, the only CAPTCHA that can be used is one that works solely for "Guest" users. The option allows us to force Guests to complete a CAPTCHA every time they post. Unfortunately, this is useless to us because we don't allow Guest users to post in the first place -- only Registered Users can post, and that's the usergroup that the spambots are in.
We will actually be upgrading our version of vBulletin soon, which is something we'll all need to talk about in the next couple weeks for other reasons as well. The new version will have new spam-fighting capabilities, which should be great.
3. Level requirement for posting on forums
This was actually a suggestion that was kicked around over here as well. It would 100% be able to stop spambots, however, the problem with it is that it would disable certain legitimate people from posting such as:
a) Users with tech support issues like being unable to download/install the game, graphical issues, login issues etc..
b) Curious people who are just looking for info about the game before they decide to try it out.
We definitely don't want to leave these kinds of users out in the cold.
So again, thank you for the suggestions, and please know that we're taking this issue seriously. We've already implemented a couple of short-term measures, and we'll be adding to them soon with more long-term solutions.0 -
I'm all for more mods, I think it'd be a big help!"Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness. It is far better take things as they come along with patience and equanimity."

Voted yes.
All my reasons have been mentioned already, though of course adding more moderators isn't a permanent solution.0 -
New mods isn't how you prevent spambots, anyone whose ever run a forum knows that. There's plenty of functions to prevent spammers(captcha's to register is more than enough), but this forum doesn't require one anymore.
E-Mail activation is also a great way to prevent spambots.
But, like frankie said in another thread, PWE has no idea what they're doing and they think the same things that work for everyone else will not work for them.0 -
