Okie, this is getting quite annoying... The bots are spamming the forums 24/7 and most of the time we need to wait till a mod/GM gets on, which isnt.. enaught. Today its a really nice example.
I vote for new or more forum moderators for the forum that can actually deal with all the spamm (Ive seen good people that are vaible for this job). There were really nice mods, tho they are gone, and im sure that there are people like them.
So dear Frankie, you can make forum moderators, so I guess you can look for new/more mods. b:bye

New or more does not really matter for me as long as they are active.
Also, each moderator should have different timezone or schedule to each other, so there will be no vacant moment like now where the spammer can spam intensely for a few hours.

If all moderators have different schedule from one to another, there will be, at least, one moderator actively watching the forum.

If they can't afford to hire new or more active moderators, they should settle down with some other solutions to fight the spammers, such as Captcha.

New mods won't solve the spamming, it'll only reduce the workload on the mods.

It's funny that PWI still hasn't done anything to stop this, it can't be more than 5 mins work

    This soo much.

Less then 5 min work. Unpaid volunteers doing what limited damage control they can is not a fix. The people leeching off the PWE payroll need to get busy and do their jobs instead.

Perosnally I want to push for new moderators. I believe fresh blood can give them team what it needs at the moment. Even if Kritty will be back in the team, it would be just him and myself doing all the work, so clearly more people are needed to maintain the forums at this point.

I dont see what can captcha can do about this.. I mean, are we even sure that they are bots? What if they are diferent people gaining money by posting this? If they are real people, captcha wont stop them... b:surrender

And that'll achieve what? the forums are for discussions, and because of the spam, not much discussion is being held. I feel like it's drawing people away from the forums and in a sense, rightfully so. Almost all new topics are being pushed further down "thanks" to the spam, and all new topics have been regarding this issue, as well.

We are quite certain that these are bots at this point, as far as I understand a program is creating new accounts repeatedly and is posting on the forums.

Time to activate these features. All BB have a defense for just this type of attack coded in.

Yes, he and the team are working on it. As to why it is taking so long, I have no answer. But I believe something is being done about it, not only to stop it but to prevent it in the future.

I know this has been mentioned in a other thread 'bout the spam bots, but adding a captcha of some sort, when a new profile is made might help a bit, being on a lot of diffrent forums useing that, and spam is minimal.

    OT:
I wish there was a more active point to wote on... why get more or new mods if it all ends up with only one or two mods being active, and the rest is MIA.

Couse when the rest are MIA, there is this 1 mod that will be here doing what he has to.

That's the same situation we have right now, except the other mods are always MIA so the load falls on just one person. If we get active new modertors, and there are "rotating" shifts and different time zones, it would be much better. However, if only one person is active, just like the situation right now, new mods won't be very helpful.

Oh, Ive understood another thing, that when anothers are afk.(my english isnt the best xD)

So about this, then the mods wont be good, and they have to be changed... If they arent doing their job, better without them, and better someone else gets their job.

    Dodo@

now that sounds logical to me... <insert name> dosn't do what she/he is supposed to as a mod, being replaced with an other person there hopefully will be more active, if not, redo the necesarry action until you get what's needed...

hmmm where did that mod improvement calculator go??? xD

I wonder if Frankie is still a little skeptical about appointing new moderators due to the great modpocalypse of 2010 b:chuckle

Well there was a reason for that modpocalypse to happen... No one knew the mods, and people werent really big fans of them.. And the old ones were good... But now it might be different and old one can still stay. And right now we actually need more mods.
