Then explain why a sage archer with a +2M wep would have 1M less range then the 35M range given as max for sins in the post I was replying to.

I have a question to Aestor and Kyoshi , who seem to be good with archer-ism:

Im about to get full r 9 set and I wanna ask if sharding it full DoT is good idea pvp wise

How does full Dot r9 build work against those pesky full JoSD players?

I'll direct you to Asterelle's signature. Specifically, the socket calculator. While you cannot put it DoTs for yourself, you can see how a given attack level factors in versus a given build with certain shards. Unless, of course, I misunderstood you. In which case, I apologize :p

In terms of surviving them? DoTs do nothing at all <.>

Maybe I should include some way of factoring in attack... Adding dots to R9 is interesting. A full dot R9 archer has like 124 attack levels and 23 defense levels while a full josd archer has 100 attack levels and 70 defense levels.

    Comparing those two builds,

DoT damage dealt compared to JoSD damage dealt to:
    josd R9 + omalley (85 DF LV): +20%
    josd R9 (70 DF LV): +18%
    normal R9 (20 DF LV): +13%
    not R9 (0 DF LV): +12%

    Damage taken from:
    DoT R9 (124 AT LV): +30%
    normal R9 (98 AT LV): +36%
    R9 Weap only (60 AT LV): +53%
    not R9 (30 AT LV): +102%

Basically DoT does pretty well against high def level targets but you take a much larger hit to survivability. If you don't have super high refines though R9 vs R9 can be a battle of one shots in which case DoT would do better. In TW you can often get away with having poor defense if you stay off the front lines.

The biggest benefit of JoSD is fighting non-R9 opponents (most prominently sins). You can pretty much charm tank a full squad of R8 and come out on top or like 2 average g13+10 sins.

For two people of the same class fighting eachother, a JoSD build will always have the gear advantage all things else being equal.

    Depends.

Sharding DoT makes you sin food in PK but you will wreck stuff up in TW. Conversely sharding jades is more advantageous in PK, but you won't hit as hard in general.

I PK a quite a bit in spite of being full DoT. It's a bit of work if the enemy group/team decide to focus you first, but far from impossible. The ONE annoying thing about sharding DoTs is you pretty much are sin food to any **** sin out there who has a credit card. But then again, so is everybody else....

Anyways I guess my point is, it depends on how you play. If you can handle being squishy as hell, DoTs will help you kill stuff faster. I TWed for years wearing +3 TT80/TT99 gear against people with +10 CVs and eventually r9s, so I'm already used to it anyways LOL. But if you need/want extra breathing room, HP is a better idea. After all, your damage output when you're dead is 0.

As for going against JOSD players, if you're going 1v1, sharding jades is theoretically better. However, if you're in a group or in TW and you can have free shots at a JOSD opponent, you will mess them up :P
