However, I believe the thread about the discussion would have been a good idea to look at and influence our decisions. Isn't this voting about who we, as the forum members, want? The discussion thread Michael had started... it had most of what we wanted. From what I saw, we had overlapping ideas, and who we considered was universal.

That's just how I saw it. Nonetheless, Krit was one of my main choices. He's a level-headed person, a good player, and I have worked with him. Remember SkyLight, Krit? b:chuckle

It should be simple for a proper CM to chose a mod that will be well received by the community (or at least, neutrally received) as well as well-equipped (in terms of both knowledge of the game and knowledge of the forums) for the job.

Wow, I really don't like this vote process, so I guess I wont be voting.

Though if I don't and they **** up, it could easily be my fault, but also the fault of whoever decided to make this a vote contest. As others have pointed out, it is nothing but a popularity contest now. D:

So I guess i'll say good luck to.... well I don't know who... because I didn't read the posts, and I really can't help but feel that whoever gets chosen will be picked just because they are liked/better known then the others.

So perhaps I should say good luck to those who you all picked who aren't very well known but are better suited then the others.

Either way good luck to all... I guess... even if you win by popularity I am sure you will still be watched by not only the players, but also the mods.

    *leaves thread... for now* xD

    Please stay the calm.
    Your arguments are not arguments.
Vote for who you believe is best suited out of the choices Frankie has set forth.
    Your business is appreciated.
    b:avoid

Frankie has done his part according to his abilities.
    1. CM Frankie has chosen 6 people he believes are qualified.
    2. Out of those 6 he has allowed the community to vote.

So no matter who we get, should theoretically be qualified.
    (But the keyword is "believes")

    3. Everyone who claims that it is better for Frankie to simply assign a new mod out of the 6 have a horribly short memory span.

The other alternatives to choosing new moderators have either expired (I.E choosing a well known personality/qualified such as Reds or me.) or are less desirable due to the side effects (I.E allowing the community to run the entire process would simply fragment the community)

On one hand I think this is a terrible way to choose a mod - on the other I recognize that Frankie is trying to work with and keep happy the forum population so I applaud him for that.

Unfortunately I don't consider myself familiar enough with many of those options to vote, but I do have to say based on posting history there are at least 2 people who have no business being on the list.

Definitely preparing for this already. Especially when it comes to a public post and names being mentioned for sure...

...so far it seems alright, but normality on these forums are always short lived I think...

I dont think this poll/idea is about finding the best forum mod, its a gesture from pwe that they are giving us what we want. I just wish they'd make this kind of gesture for something gameplay related though.

I'm not sure people understand why there was such uproar over the last mods frankie picked, because so many people just jumped on the OMG WE DON'T KNOW THE MODS RAGE bandwagon. There would have never been a need to "appeal to the community" with these threads if better decisions were made in the first place.

There's a saying about good intentions.

The bottom line is this, in my eyes:
    1. This forum is horrendously understaffed.
    2. It's going to take a lot more than this to make up that gap.
    3. I may or may not think that the people in this poll would make a good mod, but I do believe that this poll is equivalent in worth to a "which is the best class?" poll. A forum poll is a terrible way to choose a mod.

Now, if this forum had appropriate staff, a poll of the staff members, held privately, would have been a totally legitimate way to choose a new staff member. See the difference?

    Keyword: theoretically.
Frankie has chosen who he believes are qualified.

The PW staff (the ones dedicated to PW) itself is quite small as well as the slight issue that even in the staff there are not many who pay close attention to the community inside the game
Your option of having PWI's staff vote would be just as likely to get random no names as a new mod as one that would be suited for the position.

    Also please recalibrate your "eyes."

I said, if the forum were properly staffed it would be a viable option.

    Humans are so strange.
Why offer nonviable alternatives at all?
Simply offering up half baked thoughts will merely result in me poking holes into the logic behind them.
If he was able to choose 6 qualified applicants, would it not follow he would be able to choose 1?

Would you not consider allowing the community to choose from those 6 be a gracious and logical act?
(Seeing how the chances of choosing one the community likes and is qualified is greater when the choices are offered to the community.)

I was more thinking along the lines of fixing what they've broke. You know.. the usual QQ. Packs that insert coin into the economy, TW being broken, dozens of bugs, and with all the interval gear available.. making the class I've played the past 2 years obsolete (plz dont get me started on this.. makes me emo just thinking about it). I'd love more than anything to just have the devs fix class "balance".

I'm simply saying that in another situation, a poll might have been very useful. That's not half-baked, it's simply hypothetical. I have been thinking about this ever since the mod app thread went up, and of the few things on this forum that I have strong opinions about, this is one of them.

It's just an illustration to show how a poll might be appropriate. A popular vote, community-wide poll will never be an appropriate way to choose a mod in my view.

EDIT: Yargh, we're both adding things after the fact xP

Again, being liked by the community is nice but not a prerequisite for being a mod, it's being -respected- by the community for their posts, and being knowledgeable about game and forum dynamics. There is a subtle, but very real and very important difference.

can we stick on topic for once and note let the thread dissolve into QQ about unrelated subjects.

the forum is understafffed because we drive the majority of mods who take on the job to drink, or just frustration and they leave - after all who wants to mod a forum full of flamers, qqers, folk who have quit the game but like "poking the corpse".

if we actually tried to support the staff rather than fighting them at every turn we wouldnt be in the position we are.

For fear of offering a direct opinion on the chosen candidates, I'll try to do my best not to and simply say that an appropriate CM would have made the right choice.

This is may not be frankie's stated topic, but it is of great relevance to the thread.

This forum is understaffed because there are 18 major boards and 15 sub-boards, all of which are in desperate need of moderation, and I have been on these boards 2 years, and I don't think there has every been more than 5-6 part time mods.

Oh the irony of editing to add this quote:

with the comment made by you, in a now locked thread, about killing all ****.. Id almost want Zoe over you
wow you people are impossible. I'm usually never one to side with PWI, but ffs, THEY'RE LETTING YOU VOTE

    +1 and so true

    as far as the choices..
Zoe? really? anyone who has been around long enough to remember all her pk in real life comments knows she isnt a good choice
Pressa.. nothing against you hun but are you even still active? i hardly ever see you online, and i have hit 100 on two characters while you went from 96 to 97. why mod a forum of a game your not even playing

Fuzzy_Wuzzy and Krisnda, no good or bad on either, dont know them much fuzzy's third person talking is kinda cute but not really professional

Dyskrasia and KrittyCat are probably the better options just because they have mod experince and seem fairly level headed and well spoken
