Vote for the next PWI Forum Mod!
frankieraye
So, after going through all the applications and checking post histories and what not, I've whittled down the list to 6 applicants, all of whom I feel have shown good potential to become a helpful mod.
So now the rest is up to you.
For the next week, I'd like you guys to vote on who you would like the next forum mod to be.
Feel free to discuss the candidates as you like, but please leave flames out of this thread.
Poll closes on November 8th at 4:15pm PDT!
Good luck! b:thanks
----
To make things easier for you guys, I'll link each of the candidates' applications below:
Zoe - Heavens Tear
Fuzzy_Wuzzy - Raging Tide
Krisnda - Lost City
Pressa - Heavens Tear
KrittyCat - Dreamweaver
Dyskrasia - Heavens Tear
You can also do further research on each candidate by using the "Search" function to see every post they've ever made. Just make sure you select "Posts" instead of "Threads" at the bottom left of the search box.
Also, if any of the candidates would like to post in this thread to say more about themselves, they are welcome to do so, but not required.

This.
Out of the given options though I'd most definitely say KrittyCat.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

That option is actually your browser's "back" button.0 -
At least 3 of those people shouldn't even be considered, oh well though. :P Have fun voting guys, I'll just be working on my secret project0

Agreed. I'm not going to lie - the people here are not mod worthy besides Krit. Zoe... I'd have never considered her.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Lolwut? So you're saying I should just leave? This is perhaps the dumbest way to pick a mod ever. Leaving won't change the fact that it's dumb.Zanryu - Dreamweaver wrote: »At least 3 of those people shouldn't even be considered, oh well though. :P Have fun voting guys, I'll just be working on my secret projectGraviora - Dreamweaver wrote: »Agreed. Yeah, out of the choices, I'd have said Krit. But I won't be voting.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
eww, I can't believe Zoe is nominated, that would be the most stupid mod ever if she was elected.0

Sorry I am an extreme nationalist so I would vote only if there was an applicant from Sanctuary! Damn outsiders!

You said you didn't care. If you don't care, then don't vote. Use the "back" button to leave the thread.0 -

You weren't going to vote for a mod anyway. =_= "Who cares, this blahblahblah" isn't a mod, so yes, you might as well just leave.
I chose Kritty. Of the 6 applicants, he seems the most well-rounded and sensible, least likely to get sucked into drama or what have you.

Honestly? /facepalm
You should have made them each write a paragraph in summary of why they want to be a mod....
This is just a popularity contest now.I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -

No, I do care. That's why I'm here. I never said that I personally did not care, I said "who cares." That implies that it does not matter, not that I have no personal interest in who becomes a mod.Katzyn - Sanctuary wrote: »You weren't going to vote for a mod anyway. =_= "Who cares, this blahblahblah" isn't a mod, so yes, you might as well just leave.

I wouldn't vote because I don't want to give anyone the impression that this is a smart way to pick a mob. But I do care.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

They basically already did that in the Mod Application thread.0 -
lol you guys are just bloody amazing.
frankie picks mods - you guys go apeshiz crazy at having mods imposed upon you.
so.. to include the community frankie opens up a mod position and invites people to submit their names for it. they even allow a post to stand where the submissions can be discussed.
frankie then picks a selection of candidates from those who submitted, based on thier post, the feedback and posting history etc.
and now people come on saying this is the dumbest way to pick a mod? presumably because their member of choice isnt in the list...
some people just like being ornery I guess. if you don't like the options you dont have to vote. but if you don't vote don't cry about it later.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

They were originally supposed to do that in the application... and a lot of people (including some of the people in the vote...) did not even do that so makes me wonder if Frankie just chose people that seemed to get like no replies to from your other thread...0 -

Amen, brother.
Can't please everyone.
Wonder if said complainers would have still complained if Hamsta and/or Reds were still around and were "promoted" as mods? Lots of people would have voted for them, too.Katzyn, level 101 Demon Veno

How do you know how frankie picked these people? I may or may not have picked one of them, if I were frankie, but the fact remains that this just became a popularity contest, and voting on this poll is worth no more than voting on a poll on "what's the best class." It's all just personal preference. I would bet that winning lotto ticket frankie told me to go buy that most people who vote have never modded a large forum and really have no idea of what it entails. The active posters on this forum give a kind of skewed version of reality.Katzyn - Sanctuary wrote: »Amen, brother.

I would still have said this is a terrible way to pick a mod.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Basically, yes. You don't just look at someone's job application and say "ok you're hired" either.
But i guess you're right, at this point none of that really matters, it's a mad dash to get votes either way. xPI post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -

What else was Frankie and the others to do? SO many people whined that the last three (well...TWO, really) mods were people that no one knew, and "they wouldn't have chosen them!"...so. At least this way, the community chooses. At least if the community chooses people they like, maybe there won't be such an uproar.Katzyn, level 101 Demon Veno

so you are saying that frankie should just pick one rather than letting us vote for it?
then we would be back where we were when shelly and grim got their jobs - we would have the same old QQs about mods being forced upon the community.
we wanted to pick - here is out chance. if we don't like the choices then noone vote.
I am presuming if there is a low turnout on votes frankie will revisit the choices?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

You're right, a lot of people complained because they didn't know the mods chose. Most of those people jumped on the bandwagon, without really knowing why that's bad.
Choosing mods by popular vote is a terrible idea. Modding should never be a popularity contest, because you cannot be buddy-buddy with the community as a mod. You have got to have some measure of authority, and that requires a certain separation from the community.
The reason picking unknown mods is bad because they have no understanding of the community dynamic and have garnered no respect from said community.
The reason picking mods by popular vote is bad is because popular vote does not identify the best mod, it identifies the most popular poster. I'd say that 9/10 times, those two things are miles away from each other.ZeroDefects - Dreamweaver wrote: »so you are saying that frankie should just pick one rather than letting us vote for it?

Yes, I am saying that. That's frankie's job. Again, the reason the last mods he picked were so poorly received were for reasons I outlined above.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

This is also a serious problem, and though frankie I'm sure can see who voted on the poll even if we can't (usually a mod feature on most forum platforms), it would to take ages to sort out whose alt is whose, especially if someone gets carried away.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
However, I believe the thread about the discussion would have been a good idea to look at and influence our decisions. Isn't this voting about who we, as the forum members, want? The discussion thread Michael had started... it had most of what we wanted. From what I saw, we had overlapping ideas, and who we considered was universal.
That's just how I saw it. Nonetheless, Krit was one of my main choices. He's a level-headed person, a good player, and I have worked with him. Remember SkyLight, Krit? b:chuckle[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
wow you people are impossible. I'm usually never one to side with PWI, but ffs, THEY'RE LETTING YOU VOTE
everyone complained, and *******, and moaned, when Grim and ChaoticShelly (or w/e her name is) were appointed modship.
I'll admit, Shelly ended up being a bad pick (In my own opinion), but Grim was a solid choice.
That aside! A BIG complaint I saw was that these 2 new mods were people without actual endgame playing experience. Well here we go, all the choices, as far as I'm aware, have reached endgame status, and are pretty well known. They know the functionality of the game, and I've seen all of them voice their opinions.
Now some (like Zoe, also just my opinion) shouldn't be on that list, but at the very least THEY GAVE US THE OPTION TO VOTE HER DOWN. Had Frankie jus appointed a mod without any poll, Zoe could very well if been granted modship. But now it's up to the players who it will be.
Just shutup and vote b:shutup0 -
poor archosaur.. always left on the shelf. harshlands seems to have been poorly represented in the options too.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0
