Alright, so I realize that everybody has many questions and concerns for Frankie, Shelly, and Grim. Now I understand this is possible flamebait, so I'm asking you all (towards the community) if you can ask your questions maturely and with a calm attitude. So, I'm making a compilation of questions and concerns people may have with our CM and moderators. And hopefully, maybe, ugh I'm praying, they will look and answer. So... here you go *winces* post away
Asked by MANray_:Q:Can we get a timeframe on how much more we'll have to wait for a solution to the nerfed DQ drops?
A:
The full initiative/idea is being submitted this week. If it is accepted, the web team will start working on it, and we'd hopefully see it in action within a couple months. I'll let you know if the idea gets rejected, however.

Asked by multiple in the community:Q:Did Frankieraye "Ask" Aryannamage to leave?
A:-- PM Ary if you want a complete answer --
I did not ask her to leave. I gave her the option to stay or leave, and that is the absolute truth.
Q:Why wasn't chaoticrampage banned for his **** thread and why aren't any of his legit questions being answered?
A:*waiting...*

Asked by chaoticrampage:Q:If Mods were online during the time the "F*ck This" thread why was it not closed sooner?
A:

Q:Also, Shelly posted on the thread that you closed twice and took no action against it. If the thread was worth of being locked and your Mod didn't do it when they could have, do you think they're really doing their job?
A:
Same as above.

Asked by ragenight:Q:What is with all the multiple standards when it comes to disciplinary action?
A:*waiting*
Q: Why can one person call PWE staff a bunch of pricks and get banned, and others can do FAR FAR worse and not even get a warning?
A:
There have been a ton of violations of this nature going on, and I can only catch so many at one time. I'm working through the threads as quickly as I can to take action against these players who deserve a ban.

Asked by Tamias:Q:Why the enforcement on random rules (particularly not discussing other competing MMOs/other versions of PW)?
A:
I've always edited/closed/moved these threads, even before the new mods came on. The only other version that can really be discussed here is PW-CN (chinese version), only because that one does have a lot of bearing on our own version.

As for other random rules, please list them out specifically here. Keep in mind that the forums haven't been moderated as much as they should have been for the past few months, as it's just been myself and Ary on the job. With new mods acting, it may seem like "random rules" are being enforced when the fact is that everyone has simply been used to a forum where there was a lack of moderation. Hope that made sense.
Q:If things WILL be getting changed up and tightened a bit, can it be across the board along with responding when regards to locking or editing a post?
A:*waiting...*
Q:Will we be getting more US timezone moderators soon (in the next few months) and if so are applications for Mod positions allowed to be turned in for those positions?
A:
Hopefully sooner than the next few months. And as for applications, hold that thought for now..

Asked by Loarvion:Q:Players can get to become a moderator, but this can cause some bias towards certain scenarios; wouldn't it be better to have non-player moderators?
A:
It's true, and it's one thing that makes me wary of choosing a player to be a mod when he/she is already a very popular poster. Basically, social pressure can act in powerful ways, so such a mod may be reluctant to closed posts when it would result in a social backlash.

However, I'm not entirely against the idea as it seems to be very important to all of you. Hopefully we can come to some kind of compromise with this in the next few days.

Asked by KuiXing:Q:What was with the mass banning?
A:
I announced the new mods, and people were very upset with the selections. Once they started personally attacking the mods, I put out a warning that anyone personally insulting the mods would be banned. Many bans came from this, as well as from the resulting flood of spam, flaming, and ban circumvention.

Asked by Lenn_:Q:When are we going to see more events and updates?
A:
We're working on a pretty exciting update with a new event that could be released pretty soon, as well as a bigger update with more content that will take a bit longer to be released.

Asked by Fallghost:Q:Frankie, why did you choose mods such as Shelly and Grim; what was the criteria they fit?
A:
Shelly had the recommendation of CrabClaw and AryannaMage, and she was doing well on the FW forum as well. After speaking to her on MSN and getting an idea of what she was like, I thought she should have a chance to do well. She also has a character in her 80s and has been playing PWI and lurking on the PWI forum for over a year.

As for Grim, he first expressed interest in being a mod many months ago, and I told him that he needed to be a helpful, positive influence on the forums before he could be considered. Since that time, he's indeed been helpful on the more serious forums, while remaining goofy on the OT forums. Also, he's been an admin/mod on other game forums.

In the month before becoming a PWI mod, I had him on my MSN list where he sent me many links to threads that needed to be looked at. Basically, I've been in contact with Grim for some time now, and I felt he had the dedication and heart to be a good mod.

In conclusion, I'll admit that the this first stage of the new mods has been a frustrating experience, but in time we should all be on the same page and hopefully you all will feel comfortable with us on your forums.

Asked by Desdi:Q:Currently the Tideborn self-buffs cannot be Purge'd which makes it unfair towards the other classes. Will they ever fix it?
A:*waiting...*
Q:Does the PWE company know about what is happening in the forums these days?
A:*waiting...*

Asked by Miugre: Q:Would you consider creating a new board in the "General" section, or a sub-forum in "General Discussion" specifically for these "current-events" threads? This board would, perhaps, restrict new thread creation to only you or other administrators (unless you see fit to move a growing discussion thread from GD to the subforum and designate it as the "official" thread). With this idea, current-events threads will not be lost from the spotlight, nor will they have to share space with the announcement threads. Is this feasible?
A:*waiting...*

Asked by Slivaf: Kantorek's comment towards the player base in the "Official TW Rules" thread.

If you think your faction has a legitimate chance to win the TW, then by all means go for it.
Did, he really meant to come across so negatively, or was that him just thinking out loud? I realize that you frankieraye, may not be able to answer this, but maybe you can ask him for us?

Kantorek wrote: »
I feel that this was taken a bit out of proportion. This was not an attack on players asking for clarification on the rules. This was an attack on anyone or any faction that had the intention on getting the specifics of "how many members does a faction need" or "what is the average level of a faction" to use as their defense when their faction or faction leader gets banned for fake bids. (You know who you are).

For example, it's a lot like if there was a company picnic in the park, but you were told specifically that there is to be no alcohol on the premises. If I went up to the organizer of the event and asked "What exactly are boundaries of the picnic premise? Is being across the street considered being on the park premises?" What do you think I would be trying to get away with?

For this reason, we are unable to give these specifics and exactly why we look at TW bans and complaints on a case by case basis. There is no way we can set down a specific set of rules regarding this part of the TW bidding process.

I apologize to everyone if you felt that this was a direct attack on all players in general. But it simply was not meant to be that way. Hopefully this clears everything up.

I think that basically what many want is not so much to ask questions but for mistakes to be acknowledged and for genuine comunication to be established. I will not go into the many reasons why i believe this is not a workable solution at the moment.

If you just want to make a list of questions (and i woul advice you not to get your hopes up they'll be answered) you can add this one for me; Can we get a timeframe for how much more we'll have to wait for a solution to nerfed dq drops?

Edit; I realize this has nothing to do with the ongoing forum crisis, but some of us would still want a response on gameplay issues if given the oportunity to aproach a GM...

To your first part: *sigh* I know, it's what I want too. Hopefully this can establish a small bit of communication.

To your second: Believe me.. I kno the chances of them not being answered are high (I guess it would be better to say the chances of them getting answered are low b:chuckle)

EDIT: I agree with you, and I'm adding your question.

Going back to lurking for awhile after this post...

I sent a pm to all the mods last night and got one back from shelly. She stated that right now she feels that she needs to be a forum moderator and not a forum poster till everything cools down. And no matter what she says (as proven in other threads) she will be attacked.

My personals opinions on the matter of how it should be handled are irrelavant so I am not even gonna mention them... Just know if it was up to me there would be a lot more bannings (temporary) to help clear the air and show all that it is being changed. As for the new mods how and why should they answer for somebody elses mistakes???

I still think that 2 mods (regardless of where they came from) is not enough for these forums. Especially when it is being mentioned that they are also in other games forums modding at the same time. With the way posts come here you need a small team here 24/7 and seeing as how peak forum usage hour is coming up in the next hour.... Well here we go again.

Remember... These guys are not getting payed... In any way shape or form (they are full fledge volunteers). Most gaming forum mods are chosen by simply asking a question about how to become a mod. If the admin likes the idea they will take it up to there boss. If agreed you could have a new mod in a day or 2.

There are exceptions to the rules though... Generally around a game launch, the admins will sit by and read peoples posts and then email them with would you like to be a mod?

And I got more but I really don't see much point much of anything here anymore... have at it people....like everyone said yesterday flame on...

    OhhOhhh I has questions!!

*waves hand frantically* and I swear they're calm too XD

    Q:

Why the enforcement on random rules (particularly one that caught my eye about not discussing other competing MMOs/other versions of PW)?

*This was raised due to me seeing Grim edit a post and giving that rule as a reason to edit.

If things WILL be getting changed up and tightened a bit, can it be across the bored along with doing something when regards to locking or editing a post?

*i.e. posting a reason (sometimes the thing I see getting locked may/maynot have it clearly in bold letters THIS IS SPAM LOCK ME across it or something to that degree

Will we be getting more US timezone GMs soon (in the next few months) and if so are applications for Mod positions allowed to be turned in for those positions?

*This is something Ive seen on other fourms where there will be a thread stating that Mod positions are open and for ppl to send in apps and such. This gives people the feeling that they are, at least somewhat, getting a chance to put in themselves if they feel like they can do it rather than this pre-picking thing that might upset some people.

so lets say this person X was in Faction Y then he became a mod then an issue came up between faction Y and Z mod will always favour faction Y over Z maybe even help them

    ---

A possible explanation I can see them coming up with is that, they wanted us to see what really "not doing their job" looks like, which is a pretty bad tactic when it comes to a thread like that, it was a worse case scenario thread, that probably should have been locked the instant a mod seen that it was breaking a huge no no on every forum. =x REGARDLESS of what they were TRYING to prove to the ranters. It sadly only proved the point of those who said the mods weren't doing their jobs.

not trying to make excuses for them, but meh it is a possible reason why they didn't do anything about it sooner.

No matter how unlikely it is that we would get a response for every single question we have, I don't think they should have to answer every single question, but it would be nice if they would answer, SOME. =x

Just a small suggestion. Some of the questions are merely variations on the same theme, others are trivial or only important to a limited group of posters, and there appears to be a couple of important items missing. Number is also a concern, since it should be kept reasonable. I would recommend narrowing down the number of questions to around five and certainly no more than ten, leaving out those that seem unrelated to issues important to most players (such as mine for the time being) and merging those which are similar into a single one. Also avoid questions which are unlikely to ever receive an answer. Individual bans cannot be discussed per forum rules for instance.

The thing to remember is the list should be kept within the limits of reason if you want to give it a chance it will be considered. Try to identify the main themes (for instance the posibility of new mods) and have them phrased in such a way that a response would provide answers for most of the related questions. I wish you good luck on this endeavour.

If my idea wasn't to make everyone feel noticed by atleast (if this is being looked at) having their questions SEEN by an official person, then that would definately be the way to go. But in this case, if someone has a question, I'll post it, so everyone has a smidget of hope.

But that is definately something to keep in mind for future things b:thanks
