    The man (A) knew it was white because the others(B and C) didn't know what color theirs were. If his had been black:

    B would have seen a black and a white hat. Because C didn't know, B must not be wearing a black hat, so he would have been able to say he had a white hat. But because B didn't say he had a white hat on, A knew that he did not have a black hat on.

    Time for a classic. This is Einstein's riddle (or at least, it's assumed he wrote it). According to research, only 2% of the world's population can solve this riddle. Personally, I did it in about 20 minutes, and don't see what's so hard about it. Now, this riddle can be very easily googled, but don't do that unless you're absolutely stumped and can't find it. If you end up googling the answer, don't post it here or you'll ruin it <_< If you find an answer and want it verified without googling, post it here, or if you found it yourself then googled it and it ended up being correct ;O
    Now, the actual riddle is different from the ones posted here so far, here it is (yes it's copypasta):


    There are 5 houses in 5 different colors. In each house lives a person with a different nationality. The 5 owners drink a certain type of beverage, smoke a certain brand of cigar, and keep a certain pet. No owners have the same pet, smoke the same brand of cigar, or drink the same beverage.

    Somebody owns a fish. The question is: who?

    Hints:

    * The Brit lives in the red house.
    * The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
    * The Dane drinks tea.
    * The green house is on the left and next to the white house.
    * The green homeowner drinks coffee.
    * The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
    * The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill.
    * The man living in the center house drinks milk.
    * The Norwegian lives in the first house.
    * The man who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
    * The man who keeps the horse lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill.
    * The owner who smokes Bluemaster drinks beer.

    Heh, yeah, it's Monopoly. That riddle you're talking about is the same as mine, but I modify to counter googlers. =P

    Alright, now for some big ones!

    1) Think of all english words that end in -gry. Hungry and angry are two such words. What is the third word in the english language that ends in gry? You use it everyday, so it's nothing obscure.

    That's a really old one, let's see if we've got people who can solve it here. Also, if you already know the answer because you saw the riddle before, don't post it, let people figure it out ;3 Feel free to pm me the answer though.

    2) An apartment building has 25 floors. There are three people living on the twentieth floor. One man in particular acts strangely. On days when it rains, he takes the elevator up to his floor. On sunny days though, he takes the elevator halfway, then gets off and takes the stairs for the remaining floors. Why?
    Edit: No it's not a fire staircase on the outside of the building, the stairs are inside.

    3) There is a wise man who can answer any question, but only one question per person. Assume he truly knows everything, even things that should be unanswerable like "how big is the universe". One day, however, a man comes up and asks a question, and the wise man remains silent. He knew the answer, but was unable to say it. What was the question?
