    OH OH! I KNOW THIS ONE!!

    He just stepped in dog ****, didn't he? I realized this because I was just walking my dog and I realized that some people who step in dog poo walk funny.

    I'll last forever and a day: the water cycle, there's different forms of water but it never really is "gone"?
    But I'm still soft, or so they say: I have no idea o___o clouds are made of water droplets and look soft? XD

    The more I think about it, the less plausible it sounds XD

    Alright, here's some different riddles - completely different style from the other ones posted!

    1) Three people are involved in a bet. They have five hats, three are white, two black. An innocent bystander will randomly select three of these hats, and place one on each person's head, while they're looking away (so they don't know what hat they're wearing). The person selecting the hats selects the three white hats and places them on the respective heads.
    To win, someone must say what color hat they are wearing. All of them can only see the other two people's hats, never their own.
    Suddenly, one man shouts out "White!" and wins the bet.
    How did he know?


    2) A room has three switches, one of them controls a light upstairs. All of them are in the off position. You may switch them on or off as often and long as you want. You may go upstairs to check on the lamp just once, no more. How can you figure out the lamp-controlling switch?
    Notes : You can't see the lamp while downstairs, and you're alone.

    This depends. Is the lamp fluorescent, or incandescent, or one of those eco-friendly lamps?

    Shelle, I think you misunderstood. He says he's wearing white, and yes, he's seeing two others with white hats. But how did he know his hat was white as well? For all he knew, the bystander selected two white hats and a black one.
    At Vixe : That's part of the riddle.
    At Hamster : Your neighbour's shower temperature. =P (Not actually part of the riddle, stop thinking that!)

    WELL, if you're gonna be like that, FINE.

    Incandescent lights get hot as you keep them on, so the trick is to turn one of the switches on, and keep it on for....pfft, half an hour. After half an hour, turn that switch off and then turn another switch on. Now, when you go check, if the light is turned off but hot, it's the first switch you turned on. If it's turned on (heehee....) then it's the switch you just flipped. If it's off and cold, then it's the last one you haven't touched.

    Fluorescent lights can follow the same pattern, although slightly different. LET'S ASSUME your room is filthy and filled with bugs. Now, we all know that fluorescent lights are known for somehow attracting bugs, so....turn a switch on, wait a few minutes until you feel like you've killed enough bugs, turn the switch off, turn another switch on, and check.

    Eco-friendly lights....you're screwed. I dunno, are they the same as incandescent, or are they super efficient and don't radiate heat at all? If they don't, yeah you're screwed. b:chuckle

    EDIT: As for the other riddle... did he see the hats that the two men were wearing and the hats that were left over and just solved by process of elimination?

    There's five hats, because that way it's impossible for the guy to know what hat he's wearing. He sees two white hats, so he knows he has either the remaining white, or one of the two black ones on him. This goes for all three people. How did the one guy know his was white as well?
    And no, he can't ask someone else. Why would the other guy let you win a bet? >_>

    ... okay... he didn't know for sure, but the odds were in his favor.

    If he had let someone else guess first they would have a 60% chance of being correct based on the number of hats. Instead of letting someone else take these odds (which are better than even the flip of a coin), he decided to try and got it right.
