Gentlemen, I am patched. My exact procedure was thus: I uninstalled Perfect World, reinstalled, and ran the Patcher from its folder. It stalled on elements.data, and when it asked to retry I canceled the update and closed. I then ran the client, and the auto-update succeeded. Good luck to you all, I hope to see you in-game before CB ends.

Everyone please try running patcher.exe from your /Perfect World International/patcher folder.

    Uninstalled, cleaned registry, reinstalled.

    Still stuck on buff_str.txt.

I've ran it from patcher.exe several times.

I am determined to get you in game rzx. I will update this thread as information comes to me.

I don't understand why other people having this issue suddenly get their patcher to work doing the same things I've been doing since CB began. I really don't get it.

    Thanks for your perseverance xarfox.

    Originally I'd gotten to tasks.data.

After uninstall and reinstall, I'm back at elements.data.

This is getting a bit sad, really. ):

    Windows XP Home-Edition. 32-bit *I think*.

I reinstalled PW, then did as you said, but now I'm stuck back on elements.data. Again. T-T

I'm starting to agree with everyone else who said it.
Manual patch would be nice. ._.

The best way to fix the update issue is to uncheck all the options in the update window.

When something gets stuck, just close the patcher, restart, and click "Resume update." Rinse and repeat if needed. It worked for me and a few others and I'm sure it'll work for you too.

I don't think they have a manual update for us, every time we mention manual update - they ignore it.

I doubt they ignore it. I'm sure they're working on something. Besides, it's closed beta. I'm sure the devs have a manual patch in their to-do list.

Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be working either... >.<

It'd be nice if they did. I don't have that long to play anything as is, since I'm in school.

Ah well, Day 1 of CB = wasted.

Makes PWi look.. well, I dunno the word. Any other game has CB working nearly perfect when I play. ):

Gotta go. Hope there's some way to resolve this by morning... I suppose I'll just leave the patcher open over night in case a miracle happens.

Are you people trying the "Verify" option instead of updating. That fixed it for me. I just hit "Cancel" when the update server selection window came up and then went to "Verify." Everything worked fine after that.

    Ummm... esc0rz, how many times did you have to "rinse and repeat" before it worked? ^^;

If you read our posts you would know we have tried "Verify" several times.

I've tried "Verify", and the verification failed too! D:

Well, that's not good... Like the admin would say, did you check your firewall settings? Perhaps you might've blocked a port that the patcher needs open?

Have you seen any admin make a post about a manual patch? No, you haven't - therefore ignoring the manual patch option.

I'm sure they are working on something also, but the fact remains they have been saying the same exact thing to us for almost 24 hours now with no results.

Twice actually. Once for a .txt file and another for Element.

Yeah, I did that a long time ago... and lucky you, only having to recycle twice. :/

Meh... I tried "Verify" again, just for the heck of it, and it just gets stuck on "Updating listed files."

Ok I think the conclusion is: we can't get in.

We've already tried the 3453453 posted fixes, believe me.
