What about user profiles? Will they be migrated as they are ? with full inboxes, avatars, signatures or will we have to start from scratch?

Unfortunately, you're going to have to start from scratch with your user profile.

Well, knew this was going to happen. But even with the problems of this forum, its still MUCH better then what you all are planning to move us to. The Arc forums are, put simply, horrible!

Is there any way we can persuade you to abort this change? The arc forums are very different from the ones we have, and nobody I know seems to be fond of them.

I'd advise you to check out http://www.mybb.com/ - they have the best forum software around, and it's free.

While leaving the zero size object behind would be nice, it doesn't appear that the new forums are very bandwidth or mobile friendly.

Profile at the other forums is broke...

I can't get into anything but my signature (as with the direct link provided in the news post) and I've been a member over there for almost a full year already (I was in Swordsman beta). All forums (except actual Swordsman forum for me) keep asking me to login, and all that does is to reload the HOME portal into an iFrame. :)

Oh well, patience it is, then.

    This!

Its just ugly and in no point user-friendly. I cant even use the recent changes function, whitout getting thousands of threads of games I didn´t even tried...

I really recommend you to cancel your decission...

    RIP Foundry

Perhaps they will use a new theme once we're all ported over? Who knows. I do know that as a forum admin for other forums, less sites to maintain means less work for me so maybe the change is a good thing
    I aim to misbehave

I'd been saying this for a year (really - go look up my profile over there). Do any of you ever listen? Or believe me? Nooooooooooo. LOL

It's an okay system, but nowhere near as good as vBulletin or any of the other hosted solutions. I tried and tried and tried really hard to participate in the Swordsman Beta feedback over there and I just couldn't do it. That system has a clunkiness feel to it. There is no DevTracker. And here's the kicker: it does have a "new posts" function, but it's called "Recent Activity" and will show all all unread posts in all forums. AND all those posts remaining "unread" even if they are two weeks old. If you haven't gone in and marked it as read then it's always gonna be "recent activity".

Things like this were what irked me.

Zebular said that it's a good system WHEN it is set-up properly and configured right. Problem: the ARC folks haven't done either as of yet. I hate to say it but my lurk-more-post-less feelings of late in these forums may go into overdrive on those forums.

No, I don't expect they will give it a second thought. I'm no one special, none of us are. But that does not mean I not allowed to lament the loss of something that has given me entertainment for a very long time.

From the info we have on the PWI forums from the mods there communicating with Strum, the mods will carry over to the new forums. There are still a lot of questions, though, because we don't know how that will work- will they be global mods or have only privileges on certain game forums only?
Also, those new forums are a complete mess and easily abusable, people from PWI and STO have made a thread and are appalled about the many ways one can abuse everything (check it out http://perfectworld.vanillaforums.com/discussion/7895/testing/p1 ).

Haha wow that thread is a mess even on mobile. Good job, PWE.

So basically we have to redo everything on an ugly, bandwidth-sucking, exploitable forum that's probably not even safe to use? Yikes. :<

We're aware of this and are working on it. I gotta admit that some of these things are cool, but...yeah, not gonna happen.

Anyways, thanks for delaying it, seriously!

I beg you to reconsider even making this change. A lot of the community does not like the arc forums.
