Hi everyone! just popping in to acknowledge the frustration of extended extended maintenance. A new module on PC + server cleanup + unexpected issues all got together to create the perfect storm. We truly appreciate your patience in all of this!

In the meantime, we've unveiled the starter pack for those getting ready to venture into the River District!

That took you only 6 hours. Consider me impressed. So, what's the current status? Yes, I do sound a little ticked off. I'm sure you'll understand why. If not, read the post I made that Kreative removed 2 min ago.

Quick status updates will be posted on social media. If there is no additional information beyond "extended" at the time of writing, no microposts will be made on the forums. Forums are for longer discussions and announcements. I understand this is not the system that was used in the past, but going forward any communication that does not have, at the time of posting, lengthier details, will be updated on Twitter and/or Facebook.

Out of interest, while I don't disagree the reasoning behind FB and/or Twitter being the means of communicating 'microposts', it does seem rather strange that this has been implemented during an update rather than tested with the community prior to an update. Also, I would recommend that you link (if you don't already) to the relevant pages when posting the main maintenance posts.

That's good to know because every player of Neverwinter who might be interested in knowing what is going on uses Twit or facebook.

many of us dont like other 'chat sites' and want to remain to stay with offical neverwinter forum, not the others, those ase not the "home site".

I doubt any company don't use all their communicacion/social media even more with events on patching. I'm not complaining, I just say I won't consider redundant to advertise about issues or whatever in all their communication channels, other way you are assuming all your players follow just one channel and if you have some important to communicate, then you will be assumming that some players will be missing if you just advertise in one channel and don't make a communication "broadcast".

    Regards.

So what happened to the patch notes and beginning of the maintenance post? That's not an update and something we all came here looking for. It's also something that may generate a bit of conversation more than "Extended"

Could we please get a sticky informing us of said fairly major shift in communications? One would assume that on making that decison it would have been someone's responcibility to convey the news to the community. That way we could avoid post hoc wondering about not knowing the information wouldn't be here as usual.

In that case, can you please make a sticky post / announcement with links to the "approved" channels that will have regular updates?

Will help direct folks to the right places and help avoid confusion / grief.

Facebook tends to be kind of a jerk about not just letting you view information if you don't have an account. (Eff off with your ^&%*$ captcha I just want to read the ^&%*$ article.)

Twitter though, I just open in a browser tab. Maybe someday soon I will make an account but all info posted to Twitter can easily be viewed on your PC without needing a Twitter account of your own, and honestly shows up faster than constantly revisiting a forum post to see if it's been edited.

I'd prefer that the forum was also updated with maintenance announcement, specifying patch/reset, and then a completion edit to close the loop, because it does meet player expectations, but I'm adaptable.

Hahaha so dumb of me i was expecting the update of the foundry. To be honest our guild is really worried that the foundry will be the new Half Life 3.... i have a campaign half done and ideas for other 2.... Pls give me the foundry back, is probably the only thing that makes me stay here and not on GW2

This forum should be the primary channel. Both Twitter and Facebook require additional setup with 3rd party. Not everyone wants to join them. That is ridiculous to use 3rd party channels to be the main when you have a dedicated forum facility.

In addition, it is Twitter and/or Facebook. That implies you require people to have both since one of them may be the main communication channel.

Next time livestream the actual ppl doing maintenance... I know there would be complications but if ppl would be encouraging them I think it would go a lot faster haha! And I'm searious. How many freaking cables did you plug out to need 3 additional hours? And I also most definetly agree with the above:

THIS IS YOUR OFFICIAL SOCIAL MEDIA SITE. I don't have a twitter and I'm not making one for you. Start thinking clearly. Not only your official site is outdated and needs upgrades NW launcher could use a rework too after running in the dust for 4 years.

I also have neither Twitter or FB. When I am looking for information about Neverwinter I come here to the official forum. I thought the forums had gone strangely quiet ...

That is , of course, NOT true. A great many NW players use only the forum for NW updates.

As someone who has done live Internet Service launches before, I can tell you that if just ONE service doesn't start right, you have to start over, Completely. It doesn't even matter if its the NW service or a server service (Database link, web service/filter, load balancing, etc), you shut it down, and start from Step 1.

As for a live stream, it would be 60% dead air, as most of the time, you are waiting for the services to come up and be tested.

At least all the players posting on the forum use the Forum!

Facebook is evil and I have no idea how Twitter works.

That being said, I dont mind you sending information via these mediae.

However, the main source of information regarding Neverwinter clearly ought to be the game's official website and not some third party's.

sorry for not being troll, but seriously, all 3rd party chat sites by devs and producters must end NOW!, get back to homepage of NWO!

i am starting to see crusaders agianst 3rd party sites.

they ban players for using 3rd party seller sites, and then why they (companies) using 3rd party sites for chats? they should ban themselves for using and forcing players on FB and tweeters.
