Honestly, I think that having 2 sets of balance, while adding someadditional work on the dev's behalf, is probably the best of both worlds. You can balance PvP powers against one another without messing up group dynamics in PvE. It's how Wildstar is currently doing it (or at least states they're doing it).
During Beta Weekend 1, the GWF was a decent amount of fun. The at-will that is basically an AOE baseball swing with a two-handed sword (the name eludes me right now) was worth the wind up, because it made you feel powerful. WHen you hit a trash mob they usually died from a full charge, and their corpses went flying off a…
Edit: Disregard, some sites that spoke about this when the posts are live are saying Archer ranger, and some are saying dual. If I could search the archives I would verify, but as I cannot, and can't be sure as different info is around the net, my statement isn't as sure as I originally thought.
As of BW4, the Level Matching System of STO, or the Sidekicking system of CO, is not implemented in Neverwinter. So if you have a level 30 friend with you, you will likely not get any EXP from mobs if he helped you kill mobs equivalent to your level. You will still get quest XP, though.
From how I understand it, to stop people from getting all 20s or all 10s, they set up the rolling so that you are rolling a random number between 1 and 12. Depending on which number you get, you get an array of stats designated for that number. The arrays can be seen here:…
Laserduck, thank you so much for giving a heads up/acknowledgement on this. As somebob has mentioned (and as I saw when testing in CO/STO), this appears to be an underlying thing with the Cryptic Engine. I sincerely hope that a resolution can be found within Neverwinter, that could then potentially be brought over to the…
Dezstravus: Thank you greatly for the response, and the assistance. It's a bit mind boggling, as I'm not seeing any shaders being used on the UI or, well, anything really that should cause this kind of performance drop. Here's hoping it's something easily remediable. If folks could keep posting the UI on/off FPS, it'd be…
As an aside: Anyone else willing to test the scenario I gave above(disable FPS limiter, turn on /showfps 1, record average, then hit B, record average), and then post their results?
Control Wizard description, as listed within the D&D 4E player handbook: Your favorite powers restrict your enemies in various ways—crushing them in the coils of a lightning serpent, trapping them in a cloud of noxious vapor, or encasing them in ice. Intelligence drives your attack powers, so make it your highest ability…
Still disappointed that Half-orc made it into the game before Dragonborn, as Half-Orc isn't a race from PHB1, and Dragonborn is. I understand not having Eladrin (As pretty much all elves are now eladrin by lineage) but here's hoping Dragonborn get added before or shortly after launch.
Dragornborn are part of the (4e) Neverwinter campaign setting book, and a core race in 4e itself. Half-orc isn't a core race of 4E. So you've kind of got those backwards.
I've also experienced this a lot. I Believe the simplest way to fix this would be TOR's solution. When players are in a cutscene, they and all of their pets get a buff that makes them invincible and reduces their outgoing damage to 0 (to make sure it can't be abused somehow)
As much as your hope and enthusiasm spurs me to also hope, unless I'm remembering incorrectly, launch classes are GW Fighter, Guardian Fighter, Rogue, Cleric, Wizard(Control). Thats it.
I'm pretty sad that we do not have all of the 4e classes that were in the first Player's Handbook. Paladin, Ranger, Warlord, Warlock are all no shows. I can understand not making it to the 2nd and 3rd player's handbook stuff like Avenger, Invoker, or my favorite, Monk, but not having all of the 4th edition launch classes…
