its not the graphics that offend me as much as the cartoony asian style looks of the characters, ex. FF7 prettyboy emo haircut with a flagpole sized sword.
Do you guys think a dwarf should have a bigger variety of beards to choose from, or a bigger variety of emo metro "lets go loiter in a coffee shop in our skinny jeans and listen college band music" hair styles?
What fun is there in creating your own henchman, like in real life u cant create your own coworkers wouldn't it be more interesting to think u have a solid friendship with somebody only to find out that they are backstabbing turds, or vise vera.
Been a fan of Forgotten Realms for a while now and Id like to play devine/battle cleric because ive been reading up on them in my D&D 4E for Dummies and id like to be one of the first to test it out.
The witcher was on the right track as far as interface went, nothing flashy just simple realistic melee death. If want fancy go with a caster, if you want old fashion skull crushing decapitation and hamstinging go with melee characters. I was a little disappointed in the greatweapon fighters combat animation it reminded me…
I wonder sometimes if all this negative feedback is one of the causes of all the delays on a release date. It seems they are torn between pleasing the old school d&d players and your modern gametard. So far I think the melee classes may be a bit cartoony. But give them praise for taking initiative to try something…
Not sure what to think of it so far although it looks kinda cartoony and its adopting the japanese final fantasy greatweapon the size of a flagpole style im still gonna give it a shot. I can always change cosmetics if I dont like the way it looks I guess, but its too bad I still have to look at other players who enjoy that…
I appreciate the initiative taken by them to make it different than other mmos, I hope this doesn't end up being their downfall. Simple pnp style gameplay has never failed in any dnd game ive ever played.
Lotro has a good ah system the only trouble with it is lack of unique items found throughout the world because all the good stuff is either craftred by other players or bind on aquire. Keep real money out so it doesn't turn into a piece of HAMSTER like d3.
If this ends up being a flopper like age of conan I think adding classes will be the least of their conserns, but I personally high hopes for this game and barbs and rangers will likely be the first on the list.
Do drow have a dual wielding bonus in 4e? And I also noticed that surface elves are closer to human size now, does this also apply to male drow who were generally smaller than drow female in previous editions.
I was reading the d&d 4e for dummies book and it looks like they removed Stat penalties from the four basic races, and I didn't see any race with int. Bonuses so I guess that means wizards are a go for any race.
I'm pretty sure they'll do something with every class to keep it interesting, having learned the do's and don'ts of other mmos. It doesn't seem that the hardcore d&d fans are expecting much from this game though, but I hope we are all in for a surprise.
I think its a good thing we cant put op item drops in the foundry but perhaps maybe the people screening our foundry will work with us on loot with reasonable statistics upon request. But since gauntlegrim is one big giant magical dwarven forge, I don't think we will have a lack of op items.
Perhaps the option for a rp experience ex: a band of drow hating surface elves adventure into the underdark on a holy mission to kill servants of the spider queen or a surface raid with an all drow party with intent to murder surface dwellers. Of course u need a goodytwoshoes turdinthepunchbowl type player to add conlift…
If there is an option to be evil, that's what salvatore would be doing. Breaking the monotony of being a dogooder....he did after all tried to kill drizzt when baldurs gate came out.
Don't know if 4e has hamstring and all that cool rogue stuff but some stealth kill combat animations would be HAMSTER, in fact critical combat kills would be cool if every class had a few. Example: ice shattering wizard.
I read the front page and looks like it only mentions daggers, not much for your Artemis enterri fans to go on. And the lack of drizzt wannabe builds is gonna be a plus and a negative since it is rumored that the ranger may not make it to launch.
I'm not trying to sound like a negative Nelly all the time but I didn't see any trap disarming or any bow sniping I'm wondering if this is going to be an action game that's gonna run its course In a few months.
