There are several important uses for GOLD. common companions (2g) common mounts (5g) potions skill kits injury kits Obviously if you have a AD or Zen mount you won't need a common mount, but for a large number of players saving that first 5G for your levwl 20 mount will be an important consideration!

The ones you save for the angel do not decay. The ones that decay only store up to 7 for the best prize and 5 for the second-best prize. (I do keep getting celestial and ardent mixed up though) I do agree though, I hope I don't lose my coins (up to 4 this morning) due to server outages.

armor changes about every 5-7 levels in my experience. all MMOs give you boring gear in the beginning and progressively nicer as you go, and while NW certainly has fewer armor/weapon skins than you may be expecting, you will get past the boring low level armor eventually!

I usually rely on my guild to put together groups that are sortof listen. Are you trying to convey important info (who will deal with adds? Who will tank?) before the fight starts? or are you expecting the pick-up queue players to be psychic? A little communication can go a long way.
