  • Halfling and Half-Orc have never been on the races page, I'm sure they're still in game.
  • My advice is to sell all your AD for Zen a couple days after open beta launch. I'd expect Zen prices for AD to spike with masses willing to buy up AD to power up their characters asap. After that initial rush fades, prices will likely come down, and you'll be able to buy more AD than you started with, or just buy it back…
  • I don't think we'll see another rogue build for a very long time. The trickster rogue as implemented pretty much covers the Rogue class already. There are far too many other classes to implement before they need to look at a second, barely distinct, rogue build. I actually doubt that we'll ever see one. If we do, I think…
  • Depends if they fix sneak attack or not. 20% longer stealth duration is 1 second. When you got more damage while in stealth, that was really nice. Now, though, I'm not sure I care about the extra second. Being human allows you to take every DPS feat available. Non-humans have to give up either 1 point in extra at-will…
  • As far as I know, no one has done any sort of testing to figure out how damage is calculated in and out of combat advantage. Until that's done, we won't know for sure. I made a post about this already in this thread:…
  • Until numbers are available for how much armor is reduced, we can't quantify the Drow racial. However, I suspect it's a really small amount, like 1%. That would keep it in line with the DPS advantages that the other races have.
  • Sneak Attack is a staple rogue class feature. In order for it to be faithful to the pen and paper game, it needs to be a damage buff under certain circumstances. In PnP, it applies whenever you have combat advantage, which I would prefer. In my opinion, Rogue base damage should be equal to all the other classes. But when…
  • Crit hard caps usually only come into play when attacks use a hit table. In WoW, for example, a boss has a chance to parry and dodge, and your attacks can miss or glance. What's left is hits and crits. If crits take up the rest of the table, you've hit the crit cap. A soft cap applies when you temporarily buff your crit…
  • Tiefling's bonus under 50% is just 5%, right? So at best it's a 2.5% overall damage boost. Aside from that, they get +2 CHA, but not DEX or STR. Half-Orc gives: +2 STR, +2 DEX for +2% all damage, +2% crit chance. Add in the extra crit damage, and I think as far as pure numbers go, Half-Orc wins out. Again, it's close, and…
  • Technically, we don't know how strength bonuses stack with combat advantages bonuses and charisma. If it's done so that Charisma is better when you're in combat advantage, there is a point where your combat advantage uptime will make Charisma better than Strength. That specific point will depend on how the formula works.
  • I'll agree that Half-Orc is technically the best. But I'll also assert that the difference between races is very small, so you are free to play whatever you want. But yeah, if mix-maxing is important to you, I think Half-Orc is your best bet.
  • This is false. You can put points into rank 3 at level 20. This allows you to skip up to 2 skills in the 0-20 range, and you can skip up to two more anywhere else up to the end. You do get one rank in Sneak attack automatically due to it being one of the first five powers, but I expect they'll swap that with Tactics, since…
  • Drow do not get +2 WIS/CHA. Drow get +2 Dex, and then their choice of +2 WIS or CHA. There aren't any races that get +2 to both WIS and CHA, though, so Drow are just as good as anyone else. Drow, Dwarf, Human, and Half-Elf are your options if you want +2 WIS. Though keep in mind that all the racial bonuses together are a…
  • Yeah, this doesn't feel right. The Sneak Attack class feature from 4E gives the rogue extra damage when they have combat advantage. It's a key feature (it is in fact this feature that makes the rogue a striker), and it needs to be represented well. Sneak Attack should probably grant a damage bonus whenever the rogue has…
  • Wait.... did they really give us a stealth based passive at level 1? As in, before we have stealth? Sigh. They clearly didn't take much time to think about the trees before they implemented this system. So, developers, feedback: Put Tactics in our level 1 passive, please. Move Sneak Attack to level 15, and move First…
