  • Sounds like an awesome idea, though the ETA on cryptic actually implementing it....
  • No idea what others do, but what I suggest is placing a fake exit (door basically) slightly infront of the abort exit. In the fake exit detail's properties check off the contact box to start a dialogue with the fake door. Inform people in that dialogue that this is the abort exit, if they want to continue have a response…
  • Sadly though, if the guard dies it won't res. We'll have to wait for Cryptic to add the ability for us to add temporary companions to our Foundry missions if we want to add "party members" basically. There's also no 2h warrior, rogue or archer guard that can even withstand more than a few hits, which limits your reskinned…
  • I've been able to make spiders bigger, guess it depends on the animal and yea Giants/large humanoids have that problem where if their default size is bigger than the max setting of height, touching the height slider will make them smaller no matter how high you set it.
  • Trick most people do is place a barrel where ya want in 3d mode to get the cords of where you want to place the npc. (then copy those over in the editor) same can be done with traps
  • It doesn't require a new map at all. You can block off the teleporter with it's detail counterpart by placing the detail slightly infront of the teleporter, make that detail disappear when you want the teleporter to be accessible. Though the counterpart details usually won't cover up the sides, so use…
  • Far as I've noticed you get a certain amount of xp depending on how hard the encounter was. Killing it as a quest objective or killing it optionally doesn't change the xp given. But, due to exploiters the player can only get a certain amount of xp per minute. So try to space out encounters that give a lot of xp…
  • The only way to make teleporters appear and disappear is be blocking them off with details that will appear and disappear. For teleporters with no sound don't use the magical teleporters. A lot of the non-magical teleporters have detail counter-parts which you can use with other similar details to still have the entrance…
  • Can't believe SS is considered to be profane. It's a part of history, good or bad you should probably learn history... Though I'm anti-anti-profanity, not saying it gives it power, when in reality used well it helps to add drama and character to your story. Though naturally overuse makes you come off as immature. How's…
  • Is there a way to have the player state his name in the dialogue response choices? When i use [nickname] for example as a response choice it just shows up as "[Nickname]" instead of "Author" when doing a playtest in the editor. Guess I could just have it be "(Say your name)" but would be cool if [nickname] could work on…
  • My rule of thumb is there's no such thing as too much detail. Though you should always design your rooms with purpose and make each one different. A lot of authors get lazy on the details and it shows. Run a regular cryptic solo dungeon and if you use less detail than they did you need to step it up.
  • Just finished up my first cut scene as well. I made it just as an easter egg to test it, took people's advice on trapping the mobs in invisible walls for when it's published. Works great while testing in the Foundry. It's basically just an npc walking around blowing out candles to turn off the lights. (timed the lights…
  • Have your player interact with a detail (whatever you want, an invisible wall if you want it to be invisible) make the detail require the item to interact with it. Set encounter to be visible when component complete and select that detail. Doesn't even have to be tied to the linear storyline. And done. Now the encounter…
  • .... as you walk up your stairs you try to 3d edit them.
  • Yea he dismounted me when he did it. Guess it's a bug.
  • I ran into a weird bug/exploit the other day in pvp as well. A rogue ran up to me and used some ability that made every single one of my abilities go on cooldown for 2 minutes. (Even my at will abilities) Had to run around doing nothing for awhile till they came off cooldown. (I have a 60 rogue pretty sure i have no…
  • I think you've run mine before. (least I think you have) Updated it recently with a little comedy and a few more encounters to increase the length so it doesn't drop from daily. Check out the bandit dairy in the sleeping quarters. Info in the sig. My 2nd quest should be out sometime next week, had to duplicate a large map…
  • I included a difficulty slider in mine mainly due to the problem with scaling. Hard mode for example is laughable at like lvl 15-25, but at lvl 60 even easy can be rough. I personally suggest other authors do the same.
  • Hey just wanted to report a bug in Chapter 1. Ran your quest again. It's a silly bug, but it happened to me cause I misclicked. Was trading the gnarled root to Bildrath for the Sword. Once the sword was placed on the table I talked to him again instead of clicking on the sword and same dialogue choice was available, so I…
  • ^ Yea I suggest publishing any completed quest even without sounds, it's probably going to be awhile before they actually fix it. You can always add or fix the sounds once they actually work.
  • Pretty cool, one thing that broke my immersion though was the guard not noticing Kirshana when she was right in front of him doing the "lockpick/examine" motion.... btw looked kinda naughty or maybe that's just my wild imagination lol. (lock picking/examining right near his crotch....) Maybe if the player and Krishana were…
  • Yep, and I've been able to lvl over 40 with my Author avatar.
  • They should seriously just think about going indie. Publishers are so 1990. (well 2000ish to be correct, but 2000 sounds lame)
  • Trick I use is just add an additional dialogue prompt that says basically nothing and link the disappear to that. (because the npc will disappear before anyone gets to read it anyway) Makes it look kinda buggy, but we'll just point our fingers at cryptic and say fix it and probably a year from now it will be. (if it's ever…
  • Well seeing as the rewards are pretty bad compared to normal solo content, I'd have to say that it's pretty much only used for people to do their dailies for the most part. Hence why I design my quests to look good, not be too hard (cause we can't reward challenge at all) and be good to run for dailies. I also try to add…
  • Sadly no, really annoying. I've managed to have npcs lie down on the expensive looking couch and sit against wall on the expensive looking chair though. Looks okay, but we could definitely use a sit on bench animation for people sitting at a table eating.
  • "Hard mode was fun. Loved the staring contest, and I won! Hahahaha" "I really enjoyed this. Nice quick one for my daily yet still interesting. To find out this is your first quest is surprising. Thanks keep up the good work" I could keep going, but I feel like I'm starting to brag lol I get so many good comments compared…
  • Heard other people running into that problem haven't run into it myself yet, only thing I can suggest is freeing up some ram (defrag if you have to) or restarting the application.
  • BTW For anyone using blood decals in their missions. Use blood projector instead. You have to aim it at the surface you want the blood to be and it's a lot trickier to place than the black blood decal, but since atm we can't fix the blood decal so it's not black, the blood projector works for making blood actually red.
  • I personally suggest not designing quests designed for groups due to both lack of groups who do Foundry missions together and lack of reward/fun doing them. (We can't control loot so it's always gonna be just greens and stacking encounters to create difficulty is really lame. We need access to both bosses and group…
