My other suggestion is to change player interaction from a button press to a hold. It's a pain to pick up items or navigate a tricky area when your in the interaction window and run off a cliff.

My wife has had the same issue with her characters as well. She seems to have pin pointed a theory that has to do with the golden lion companion. This same thing happened to my wife and I when we did the quest chain. I was able to get the rewards, but she was stuck on the " help Breunnor Find Pwent." Luckily she was able to redo it alone and finish the questline
My wife and play all the time and we both have varying degrees of sight problems. Mt. Hotenow is a real pain in the add due to the fonts constantly battling the landscape in garish tones. Having a simple toggle for the mid screen text or an option to move it down by the chat would be an easy fix.
Ok, I have that part done. What I wanted to do was have the character "read" the letter as part of a dialog in order to advance the quest. for example: NPC gives letter to player and the player "reads" it opening a dialog window with the letters contents. Then they can transition to the next map
