  • Yes it works both ways. Non-Combat NPC to talk to and if discussion fails you can drop a look alike mob in the place of the non-combat one. OR Combat mob that once beaten can respawn as a more submissive non-combat mob. This one gets trickier since the combat could easily move you away from the spawn location where it was…
  • Well, I am finally back. These last two weeks have been fun relearning the Foundry and I am now active in Part 5. I had returned to these 4 episodes of The Book Binding with the intent to finish the 5th and final portion. (Note that these are not a campaign but individual quests). Much to my dismay I found some newer asset…
  • I have saved the directories where the foundry stuff resides (being the nervous type), but interaction between quests is not available in the current state of the foundry. You should be able to copy the current map you wish to use within the same quest though. It is possible that all the items and objects is restricting…
  • This has been an issue about forever. Some of the different names are the same music. Sounds also seem to prioritize, which drops music from being played at times. You will notice this with specific special effects and objects that make noise. I used a work around to music not starting or fading after a fight. Even if you…
  • The light strobes in path to cave room and the chain were intentional. As explained before it is low resource FX. Actually took me a long time to get that chain just right to flicker and draw your attention to it. People were not reading the dialog and had to hunt for the chain. Chain is very visible now heh heh. Will look…
  • Haters Hate. Simple as that. I do not say I understand it, but all your life you will bump into haters. They are usually not stupid people, sadly. So they will figure a way to game anything to what They feel is an advantage. It can affect your life, your employment, and yes, even your foundry.
  • Well that certainly took longer than I expected. BUT all 4 quests are now active again after the patch changes. I had hoped to finish part 5 and move on to a quest using the new objects, but parts 2 and 4 (the longer ones of course) took a lot of looking at. If you try or replay these and find something amiss, please let…
  • I had journals throughout the house. As the player examines each one, the mob at the next journal appears. I just checked the doors. You can use them for interaction but it seems to bug the door. So that leaves a dialog interaction or Markers scattered along the players path.
  • I try to get the map as totally done as possible. Then set the NPC with dialogue. LAST is the encounters. It allows you to trial proof it without distractions and verify that all is the way you like it before dropping the encounters in. I wish I could remember the tipping point for dialogue threads. Objects is around 1250+…
  • It is still there but invisible. Click below where it should be until you hit the sweet spot. It is sort of hit or miss but once you have done it a few times it does become less of an issue. (sorta sucky instead of totally). Dialogue and objects both trigger this at a certain tipping point.
  • Spawn the mobs on door interaction? Seems fastest way around the issue. I had to do the same thing in part 3, where the whole house would empty to your location on AOE attacks and/or pet feeling rambunctious. That one really got my ire, since it took a very long time to place those invisible walls between the floors with…
  • lol my first one embarrasses me. I may get my ire up one day and totally redo it. If you want to see my state of the art, try the fourth one. Don't get me wrong, I think it came out ok. But the truth is I could do it a lot better today. When I see multiple quests from a person my inclination is to try the last in line. I…
  • I had a wall of text just now and realized it was unnecessary. Everyone has a story about timer hi-jinks. Select All /delete. So... I agree <nuff said>. .
  • Usually it is the combat that is a problem with new quests. You seemed to have worked that out well though. AND there were no Horse 02 calls that I saw, so well done. BUT. These were basic maps that have a lot of resources available yet. I would suggest putting a lot more effort into details. It will be worth it, since…
  • check your forum mail Maddux.
  • Assassination Contract NW-DOD6JMS5H I have had that light problem since day one. Campfires that glow before they are lit (or even there) and so forth. I tried to make the rooms red during combat and ended up with red rooms. Such is the life of an Author. Anyway, I had thought I did yours. Glad I decided to verify. Fun…
  • An Author tip on the crucible sphere. At 15 degree shifts you get the gaps as seen, which can be visually morphed as I chose to do. At 10 degree you get a perfect ball. I wanted it to be my Mythallar, but these things are reported to be huge (150 meters) and shiny. An expandable crystal ball would have done the trick, but…
  • Several ways to hide them, but remember that once uncovered they are there. Hiding them anew assumes the player moved on and will not interact with the new hide object. They can be in a closet like space or other room not accessible because of a door or gate. They can be under a rock or other object. In a hole that is…
  • Sort of a love hate relationship here. Combat was a good mix. The map seems lame but at the same time it totally fits the relationship of the quest itself. It was different enough that I liked it, so I am going to give it a pass and say this was worth the ride. That said, some grass and trees still would not hurt. Maybe…
  • A Contact does not need to be in the story line. Now if the player decides to ignore it, oh well you tried. So you are correct in knowing that you cannot Force them to continue the story unless it is in the story objectives. If however they chose door number 2, well they cannot leave with an active mob at the door can…
  • Perhaps story wise. But it is not a necessity encounter wise. With two conversation threads you can control what spawns next to Mom in the next room. Use a Catch Me If You Can finisher to the conversation and then the player can go into the other room and see what they expect to from the dialog path they chose.
  • Simple approach to More Crowded in the city would be to half it. Locate one of the narrow alley sections and drop a house across it for a barrier, or even a few houses across a wider area. Maintain a sense of what you want to do when you return the player to the city and it shouldn't be too hard to mark an X on the map.…
  • A lot of F For Next Map. Walk the story line and check the transition texts. You have a good knack for the combat - but that being said a lot of people may find this overwhelming as a solo. My GF did ok, but I did suck a lot of potions. Would have liked more detail in the raw cryptic map, but once away from the city it got…
  • Good first effort. Check forum mail for suggestions and comments feedback.
  • Hallow's Thicket NW-DRMS5JEGC Bland combat but this is overwhelmed by the story and maps. AND it is better than the other end of the scale where folks drop 6 waves of hard bodies on you, so.. Story was new and well told. I do not nit pic dialogue as a rule unless it leaps out at you. Nothing here noted during my admittedly…
  • Just did a new quest that has a nice approach to ROOMs. It is a branch of the method Doc mentioned above. http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?444341-Danger-in-the-Sky! It is for sure a lot less time consuming than the method I used. Check it out.
  • Finished mowing the lawn and gave this another go. No problems. The first time I ran around killing anything found. It may have triggered a marker or something or killed something I shouldn't have. Dunno. I probably should do these without wandering around, but that's the way we roll <sigh>. Anyway. Good quest.
  • Like the cellar concept. Well done. The Accursed is also a nice touch. Humor for no reason always appealed to me. usually people do not find it though, so nice when they do. BUT I am stuck with Speak With Sybia? Can stand on top of the diamond, but see no way to enter this house. I assume she is in another away room, but…
  • I have not used it yet but I am told if you use guards instead of NPC and have them follow the distance works, or at least they are not crowding your back pocket. A work around is to use a marker at the end location, and have the Follow NPC go away while spawning a new (look alike) one at the new spot. This will at least…
  • Built houses are pretty much resource pigs. But on the plus side the results can be worth it. I built one while playing with real windows and lights. I was forced to rough out the building and walls to see the light effects. By the time I was done I had a mostly complete house, so I kept at it. It came out so well I made…
