  • so the 5% is off the final value, not the base, right? someone knows what that means for combat advantage - since CA is usually 15% of the normal damage. does +5% make 15.75% out of this, or 20%, or is the total damage i deal multiplied (1.2075 multiplier instead of 1.15) etc. ... but anyway, thanks guys, that's already…
  • nicely structured thread. and many of the suggestions here make much sense. unstackable enchantments annoy me quite a lot, too. even if they have the same amount of RP. lots of good suggestions here. i saw there is a link for mount suggestions. what about a link for companion suggestions? i recently was checking the active…
  • i agree. CWs should control, not deal damage. some spells should be able to deal damage to keep soloing nice and smooth, but in dungeons .... i would totally prefer it if CWs provide *much* more crowd control and debuffs. let go of damage but provide means such that your team mates can deal much more and have an easier…
  • ah .... threat wise briiartwine is indeed quite helpful! thanks for the explanation!
  • hey there! so briartwine does basically have no defensive purpose, except that it *might* (very unlikely) kill an enemy by this reflection. it's rather offensive .... too bad, had hoped differently :)
  • hey there, you might be an expert in this, so ... have two questions, hope you can answer them. first: does briartwine also *deflect* damage, i.e., with 10000 incoming damage and 4% reflect - my enemy gets 400 damage, but do i still get the full 10.000 or just 9.600? second: how does it interfere with defense/deflect? so,…
  • in nwcalc the tooltip is shown differently - the way you described it. i have not read that it does actually only work if it hits only one target, seems many of the more experienced players assume it to work as stated. if you and nwcalc should be right - in that case i need to respec and complain with NWO :P (i don't care…
  • i still wonder what's so great about deflect... 0 defense and 0 deflect, usually 500 points in defense give you more than twice as much theoretical survivability than 500 deflect (i du count out armor penetration here, which, of course, makes a difference....) or if not 500 defense, 2000 HP - probably even way more…
  • guess nathyiel meant to say it's easier to increase crit via charisma than via gear. it is really hard to say. crit is good and valuable, and so is recovery. what you *can do*, however, is simply create your preferred base CW and the race you like the most (probably sun elf). while high CHA is good, high INT is even…
  • ah, i see. many thanks to both of you. we will do that from now on until we read about it in the patch notes! thank you! :)
  • vincent: just before i forget - unlike most others i am not an expert NWO player, but i know my math :) and your questions are quite good. yes, in a build with EotS, CHA is less valuable and WIS is more valuable than in a build without. i think that in both cases one stat beats the other and that the difference caused by…
  • bah ... that's also a likely possibility ... thanks for the tip, we will do so in the future and see how it works out, though i still think it's a bug to be fixed... :/
  • i disagree. if you need 10 encounters, then you still need almost 10 encounters with inner calm. let me put it differently: in the time a non-high-elf has 100 daily powers available, you have 102. on average. in most cases both need the same amount of time, a high elf every once in a while needs one encounter/at-will power…
  • @chemboy: can you say something about your (GF) build and playstyle? i got curious ... :)
  • many thanks, syka - that really helped a lot! i don't clear out my cache or anything, but i use 2-3 computers for my account and my GF's account and i get asked for this stupid one-time code really a lot. super annoying. i rather turn it off....
  • he definitely is :) i wish all classes have such useful guides.... :/ missing a really good GF guide, especially when it comes to the question "ok, i know the powers and feats, but *how* do i play my char?" something i also still have to learn about a CW :)
  • the dying a lot part is not related to your choice of feats/powers. while such choices *do* make a difference, it is not that much to explain the "a lot". tip1: make sure you don't go by "recommended" gear. if you find a green orb but you have a blue one: if the green one deals more damage, equip the green one. the…
  • as much as i like nwcalc, the transition to incorporate the new paragon paths is pretty bad... @stox: finally someone to understand the math behind percentage increases ("woah! vorpal will increase my damage by about 25% since i crit so often!" ..... *sigh*)... nice build presentation i also like that you speak out against…
  • one peculiarity is that the less CHA you have, the less useful the feat "critical power" gets. due to the 10s cooldown, however, the effect is probably rather minor. the more CHA you have the bigger is the effect from vorpal enchantments as well. the more CHA, the less important EotS. most players consider CHA>WIS. the…
  • probably the best class guide in the forum :) good to read all that stuff about companions, now i know better what to get for active bonuses. once i become rich. :D [though i have to make a hard decision soon and that's about spending AD. i save them for an ioun stone, and i'm still missing quite some, but .... i'm tempted…
  • yep.... i just really like the passive effect that the tactician path gives to ITF.... .... mh... i guess you are right. though, makes me tend more to conqueror again ;) but thanks!
  • hm.... ok, that doesn't fit my assumption that ITF becomes extremely valuable ;) would be only PvE, but .... hm.... i see. missing lunging strike would also be a pity indeed.... :/
  • about the tactician build you recently posted: can you post the spec here? or comment on mine: http://nwcalc.com/gf?b=p99:4y29r:aygs,13j3n0c:60000:6uu00:buz01&h=0 the main idea is a tanky build that helps the party. own damage is not important, except for building threat. this is almost the highest tankiness i could get,…
  • i don't say it's not cool anymore, but before mod 2 to me it seemed like maybe the most valuable one of them all! with high crit this feat provided a huge bonus to AP generation. i mean, i am not such an experienced player, but this feat did catch my attention immediately. now it triggers much less often. (plus it got…
  • wow, calm reaction, ianthewizard :) to phrase it a bit different: 2% more AP gain, does, in fact, mean 2% *more*, or, your AP gain is multiplied by 1.02. i agree with uurbs that this feat is not worth taking it, 5 points means that instead of having your daily available after 100sec means you have it available after 91sec…
  • well, i am still not sold to the value of deflect. of course it's good to have. but investing lots of points in there ... probably i am missing the picture of an already well T2-equipped GF. i mean even if you *could* reach deflect 50%, it decreases the incoming damage further by about 25% only. if 1000 points in defense…
  • your guide is just top notch :D big thumbs up, like the levelling section (that's new, too, right?)
  • hi dkcandy, i like the guide of yours, gives a lot of useful insight! mostly based on information in here i created a power/feat selection for my girlfriend's GF (PvE tank). the only one exception so far is that i chose 1/3 shielded resurgence and did put them into weapon mastery for more crit. but i am a bit undecided…
  • the problem with "anyone" is "anyone's" respectability :) i myself don't trust any guide nor any author. but if i find a guide where the author goes into detail for many many things, then i get the feeling he does not just round up his experience. someone that plays a tiefling ALL the time and always chooses the same…
  • thanks so much, grimah, your guide helped me a great deal. glad to see it gets some updates :) some opinions: when i was a complete newbie, this was the first thing i found. thus i found it strange to first find a section about gear and companions before reading about powers and feats - which are much more important for…
