This on all counts :( But I have to admit, I already care a lot less than I did over the weekend - I think going live with this bug is really going to cost in the long run.
I stumbled across this thread while searching for a dev response to another thread, and frankly I'm quite surprised. I'm a software developer myself, and a fairly basic tenet is test your product on the fragile systems before you go live. The WINE environment is a perfect testbed, because it offers fairly strict checking…
Yup. safe mode crashes as bad as normal mode for me too. Obviously it wasn't the same problem, just one that had the same effect. I've tried safe mode on and off, full screen on and off, patch on demand on and off, about a dozen tries across 2 computers and no joy.
This was on preview, known, and they went live with it anyway?! Oh, now I'm really pissed. Crappy move, Cryptic. If you don't treat your product with respect nobody else will.
Ditto! 2 computers that ran the game fine yesterday crash on "Play" today. While I don't regret my past purchases, this fiasco makes me glad I didn't buy Dragonborn yet! I had planned on it, but wanted to try a Warlock on another race first, I'm glad I waited. Oh well, I guess I'll lose my coins, the gateway is too slow to…
Thanks, that's a great tip! In this case, though, it wasn't even getting that far. Normally when I first launch it says "Updating launcher, 25,000,000 bytes" and counts down to zero, at that point I can enter my account and password or set launcher options as you show. With this latest bug, it wouldn't even get as far as…
Yeah, I should add that 2 days is the *fastest* I've ever heard from customer support, some have been considerably longer :-( But I was able to resolve my issue, I deleted the whole Cryptic directory and restored from backup from a couple of weeks ago, now it gets past the launcher screen and is patching. I'll probably…
Thanks, Charononus, that link is live. Unfortunately, I don't see any suggestions for my problem, and I think a re-install of the client (about 4 hours last time) will be faster than waiting for a reply on a new ticket (2 days for the last one). My client got corrupted during the map server / party server failure last…
LOL, OK, guilty as charged. I'm using Firefox and yes I've tried it for about an hour trying every 15 minutes. The link I used was on the page http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/forum.php and the link I clicked was "Technical Support" http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/forumdisplay.php?1171-Technical-Support I get a waitcursor…
I got booted last night with a Map Server Error or some such, and was unable to log back in. I still can't this morning. I get the launcher to start and draw the window and title, but the window never fills in. Why are there no posts about this in Dev Tracker, is Cryptic unaware of the problem?
I have the same problem, but I'm *not* back in. The launcher never gets past drawing the window and putting "Neverwinter" in the title. No background image, no "updating launcher", just sits there :-(
This really demonstrates a problem Cryptic needs to fix. It shouldn't be the player's responsibility to know what quest items are instanced and to follow reasonable etiquette regarding them. If a player engages an enemy and stays within a reasonable distance of the item, the player should get that item no matter what any…
Yeah, happening to me too, but weirdly only on 2 of 4 accounts. Our whole family plays, and on the same PC we can log out of one account and log in with another and 2 of the 4 are getting booted from char select and booted from Gateway, and the other 2 are fine. All on the same pc! So I think they have a problem with a…
I too am upset at losing my celestial coins because of a problem on your end. You now have the ability to extend the expiration of Celestial Coins, we can do it through a Sword Coast Adventure so you clearly have the technology. So establish a policy that if you have more than 2 hours of downtime you reset the expiration…
YOU ROCK! Thank you both, switching the on demand patching off fixed my character and I can get back into IceSpire! For anyone else reading this, the initial download after turning off the on-demand patching was several hours (maybe a Friday night wasn't the best time to begin), but it was TOTALLY worth it!
Yeah, I agree with absolutioness, you guys do a great job communicating with us and it is deeply appreciated. I used to play DDO, and they rarely had notice for downtime, almost never had patch notes until after it was over, and it was a major feat to get patch notes before the end of an update, never-mind the night before…
And this time it worked the next night. No patch, no special action, I logged in and he was standing outside the quest he had locked trying to enter. I have not yet tried to re-enter that quest. Plaguefire Tower (Quenching the flames) in The Chasm, by the way.
This is happening to me too. One character stalls the loading screen, and even rebooting the PC does not revive him. The others are fine. Cryptic, this is a huge pain. I got my friends to log on specifically so we could quest together, we were running a quest chain, and suddenly my character is LOCKED. It blows the whole…
I don't participate for 2 reasons. One is I like role playing and PvP breaks immersion for me. The other is I don't like hassles or drama, and I've heard too many complaints about bots, AFK, griefing, and exploits to bother even trying. Even if they represent only 5% of the groups you encounter, it's not worth the risk. I…
Yeah, this. I've solo leveled a couple of characters, but most of my characters leveled grouping every single quest. I just bundle the stuff I can't use yet and mail it to myself with a mail subject of what level I can use it at. Allowing the Foundry quests to have a manual adjustment to level instead of automatically…
1) Fix scaling. It's insane that an author should have to build in, and then provide instructions for, selecting a difficulty that scales to your level. An encounter should retain its difficulty for all character levels and classes. This "for a moderately difficult combat on a solo cleric under 30 pick X, for a cleric…
Only after voting did I realize I could have selected more than one option, Doh! I mostly duo but solo and 3 are pretty common depending on who from my guild is online. I specifically avoid quests that say "group advised" unless they also say solo/cleric mode available. I also really like it when a quest has re-selectable…
/SIGNED! A strong guild helps Neverwinter because it gives players a way to work together towards a common goal. I regularly use IM to schedule game time with guild mates so we can work towards a guild goal. I'd do the same in Neverwinter if we *had* a way to work together towards a guild goal. Guild AD bank = more peer…
Awesome idea with one modification - BoP and no vendor - there is absolutely no no reason to Need it if you don't actually need it! I strongly dislike BoP, but I like constant needers even less, so that would be a great compromise
