http://techsupport.perfectworld.com/ crashes with fatal error

OK, it's a very bad sign when your tech support site crashes. When I visit http://techsupport.perfectworld.com/ I get

"An error occurred while processing your request.

Reference #97.be28fea5.1404649403.2b0d621"

I've tried several times with the same results (though different reference numbers).

I think some Cryptic employees were miserly in their offerings to Liira

Which browser were you using? Have you tried it in 'standard' browsers (Internet Explorer, Safari)? Have you tried it at different times (perhaps waited ten or fifteen minutes and tried again)?

There is a mown issue with the Gateway (Internet Gateway) they use that causes errors like these on the forums and once in a while on the web site.

Knowing what you did and what you were using would help a *lot*.

Just saying "I tried to do something and something else happened" does't say much. That a lot like when people say "I tried to print and it didn't print" which the hope of getting it fixed. Ummm... huh?.

Same error with Chrome. Not sure if it's an error with the site or a bad link, try https://support.arcgames.com and see if that gets the information you need tech support wise.

LOL, OK, guilty as charged. I'm using Firefox and yes I've tried it for about an hour trying every 15 minutes. The link I used was on the page http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/forum.php and the link I clicked was "Technical Support" http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/forumdisplay.php?1171-Technical-Support

I get a waitcursor for about 20 seconds, with the status message "Waiting for techsupport.perfectworld.com" then the cursor goes back to default and the error message displays in the browser window with the URL showing as http://techsupport.perfectworld.com/, so I'm reaching the server.

My ping to that URL is between 40 and 45 ms.

So what browser(s) are you using that it does work for?

Thanks, Charononus, that link is live. Unfortunately, I don't see any suggestions for my problem, and I think a re-install of the client (about 4 hours last time) will be faster than waiting for a reply on a new ticket (2 days for the last one).

My client got corrupted during the map server / party server failure last night, and I'd hoped there was an easy way to repair the "non-arc" version of the launcher. Our guild has our Sunday Run coming up in a few hours, so unless I can figure out a faster solution, the game won't be Neverwinter :-(

The same exact situation happened with me about two or three months ago. I did a bug on it but still haven't got a reply and the problem persists. I had never considered the arcgames support (wasn't aware of it actually as I was using the link from the perfectworld forum instead.

Yeah, I should add that 2 days is the *fastest* I've ever heard from customer support, some have been considerably longer :-(

But I was able to resolve my issue, I deleted the whole Cryptic directory and restored from backup from a couple of weeks ago, now it gets past the launcher screen and is patching. I'll probably have to kill it soon because it won't finish in time for our guild run, but it's well past where it was hanging before.

I think that force verify will check for corruption and redownload anything needed. I won't swear to it though. dVK6pEz.png

Thanks, that's a great tip! In this case, though, it wasn't even getting that far. Normally when I first launch it says "Updating launcher, 25,000,000 bytes" and counts down to zero, at that point I can enter my account and password or set launcher options as you show. With this latest bug, it wouldn't even get as far as the launcher update, so I never got the opportunity to set options.

Ouch yeah uninstall and reinstall is probably your best option.

Unfortunately there is no way to get around the requirement of downloading the game via the ARC client, however, at this time the client is not required to actually RUN Neverwinter. Simply create a desktop shortcut to Neverwinter.exe and run it from your directory. However, I cannot guarantee that such requirement will not be made in the future.
