Same here, the launcher is loading for a long time and when start i cant select a character still loading long.

Try setting the patching proxy to US in options at the launcher. This helps loading faster for me on zone change.

I had a weird lag ... entered DS in the Dread Ring area, switches to the final area after the 100m on the balcony. from there I was able to run up to the area with the books to be burned. No enemies on all he way. Arriving at the books I could not interreact with them, but after 30s I was zapped back to the campfire at the bottom of the stairs.
I think this kind of lag happens if I still get data from the server, but I am unable to send data (consitently) to the server.
I even had it happen that I was walking around, and after 10m I got the AFK message from the server. So, no data ever arrived at the server. After 15 minutes I got the AFK kick, nothing I could do. No data ever arrived from my PC at the server, but as the server-PC connection was still established (don't ask me how) the downstream kind of worked.
I also was able to read the chat, but unable to enter text or switch "channel" with /lfg or /g or /p.

I know that this was caused by my ISP, had a bit of troubles back then.

TL/DR it is possible to have minute long timeouts under certain circumstances.

Traceroute doesn't show anything useful - it shows response time of the internet routers between you and server. Believe me, responding to your traceroute is last thing these routers do, so if they do anything else - like forwarding traffic, they will respond when they can.

Traceroute will eventually give you some info in case you have network issues like disconnects or unable to connect to server, but lag in neverwinter is not network issue. It is obvious for anyone with some brain, that lag is caused by server overload. And I don't mean network overload, but CPU/memory overload.
It is obvious that group instances of each dungeon are running on separate server. Sometimes when you get into dungeon with "not so overloaded server" it works perfectly, if you go to different instance on same dungeon, it is lagging badly.
The least Cryptic can do is to introduce some payable service which puts you on separate, not-so-overloaded server, where you can play normally if you want to spend some money.

Actually, traceroutes are quite useful for diagnosing network issues, which is why they are suggested. Your data has to travel along several relays and repeaters from your PC to the server, and if any one of those are responding slowly or not at all, then you're not going to get a great connection--doesn't matter where you are. If the network is responding slowly (e.g. you have a hop with about 200ms latency, as many traces in this thread show), you are most definitely going to see some latency. I'm sorry, but your statement is hardly accurate at all. Throwing money at the problem isn't going to solve it either.

Most of the traceroutes posted show points where the latency along the route gets up around 300ms and more, or hops timing out entirely. This would indicate a route issue, NOT a server issue.

    Lewstelamon,

I am sorry to be blunt, but let's state matters plainly as they truly are.

Most of us have very good internet connections and computers, and everything else other than Neverwinter runs and plays just fine. I live in Europe, have a fast and expensive internet service, my download/upload speeds are very fast, and yet I am experiencing terrible rubberbanding and latency issues _specifically_ with Neverwinter, and _specifically_ after Mod3.

Something went the wrong way here...and it's definitely not the user's fault, and the user cannot fix it. I think that's logical and rational, don't you agree? It could be many things...but in any case it's up to the developers and their team to fix. Please understand that we don't care if it's a routing issue, or a server issue, or whatever. Our internet is fine. Our computers are fine.

Our sole and only concern is to log in everyday and enjoy the game with a decent latency. That's entirely, and totally, up to the devs to fix.

And it does not matter how expensive or fast your service is, you simply cannot get around the fact that the rest of the internet does not necessarily behave as your ISP does. Nor does it matter if you can play X or Y or Z game just fine--that argument is like saying "I can drive just fine to Paris, therefore I should be equally able to drive to Berlin just fine as well even though there's been a massive vehicle pileup on the way there..."

Um...you're assuming that your "connection" consists solely of your ISP's infrastructure, when in fact, your data has to travel along many points that are neither owned nor operated by your ISP or Cryptic, nor are those points the same for every MMO in existence. This is a truth of internet gaming. The traceroutes shown to date in this thread have indicated massive latency along certain points in the trace well before the data reaches the game server. Numbers do not lie. It does not matter where your trace originates from, but the route it travels to get there.

Unfortunately, it's not really good news I can offer. Is this consistently what you get on traceroutes? You don't have to post the others, just run a couple more at intervals, say, 2 minutes apart or so.

Unfortunately, it's not really good news I can offer. Is this consistently what you get on traceroutes? You don't have to post the others, just run a couple more at intervals, say, 2 minutes apart or so.

i think the problem is appear that something with atlas.cogentco.com I know it not server fault or something, But I think that what casing problem and should fix by any way, Right ?

considering that the official thread says below 180 is ok, and considering that I am ignorant tipster, I have seen a large oscillation in this "TE3-4.ccr01.bos06.atlas.cogentco.com"

maybe that guy is the father.

After so much debate and posting of traceroutes and such, am I right to say that nothing can be done or will to be done at Cryptics side to fix this problematic latency issue that players outside of US zones are facing? We can only hope that somehow somewhere the hops which we r connected to will go off by itself ?

This is the traceroute. Now i can't even walk in PE.Server not responding all the time!

It can't be my fault!I've been playing this game since November, never experienced those kind of issues!
