So what is the best way to prepare for the new PVP patch that is coming on Thursday? In terms of glory, etc.

Pack a group of trusty friends who enjoy PvP, have Glory capped at 25k (itll increase the cap to 50k) and get ready for a hell of whinning. Some coffee too.

Well, farm 25k glory and then grind GG non stop.

From what I heard, you will be able to exchange grim coins for some glory.

I got the gauntelgrym pvp set ready to trade for the pvp version so I will have a T2 tenacity armor and weapon set straight away, I've also save a lot of GG coins ready to trade for glory ( measly 50 glory per coin but it's better than nothing )

Probably won't end up doing much pvp though for a few days because of the Gift of Tymora event , well as long as they haven't nerfed the decent drops into the ground.

Roll a GWF. This is what I'm doing. I was a mage in all games I ever played and was never a big fan of melee. But the unbalance, especially now with Tenacity, is so extreme that there is no point in playing an other class (unless you're aiming for pure PvE).

GWF = Encounter damage higher than all other classes' Dailies (and no, a Frontline nerf doesn't change anything), range almost like CW, by far the tankiest class in game (much tankier than GF), much longer CC chains than CW.

I've been playing CW since Beta, always trying to make the best out of it, find the best build, work on my skills. With this patch, it's over. There is absolutely no point in playing any other class than GWF anymore. No class can beat an equally-geared GWF, no matter how experienced and skilled they are, while a GWF can just smash his keys and steamroll everything.

I have no problems beating GWFs unless they just heal for a crazy amount.... which is history with the new patch.
So, I expect to be owning GWFs much more easily now.

Same. I can chew up and/or chase off any GWF with my GF that isn't a monstrous, self-regenerating IV Sent. Then a gain, a GF is probably the one class naturally suited to cope with the beasts.
PSA: You don't need to grind Spinward Rise for your Elemental artifact main hand if you have some AD lying around. You can craft it via the Tyranny of Dragon's campaign screen.

Realistically speaking, you'll need to open your wallet and think of buying at least 3~5 respec tokens.

With such big changes, the meta is going to change -- we just don't know where the changes are headed.

Going to have to do a lot of experimentation with new build attempts.
Stop making excuses. Be a man.
If you know something to be broken, stop using it.
Otherwise, you've got no right to be speaking of 'balance.'

    This is the best advice.

Buy the GG PvP set hopefully before patch drops. If you don't have the GG coins then buy the pieces on the AH. (trading gg coins for glory at 50 to 1 isn't a great deal. Buy as many GG pieces as you can)

With new GG set trader you can trade this set in for new T2 set with tenacity at no cost. (Also get weapon and offhand as they are tradeable as well.)

You'll then be set for PvP. Also helps to be a GWF which will be similarly overpowered after this patch lands.

I made sure to finish collecting my T1 PvP set. I'm not a hardcore PvPer, but I do want to be somewhat better than useless (more glory if you're not useless, meaning a faster Raven Skull) so I'm set.

If you're below 60, there are sub-60 PvP blues that are going to appear in the exchange for fairly low Glory costs.

Also, if I'm remembering correctly from looking at it briefly on Preview, the GG set will be getting Tenacity added on top of its existing stats. The existing T1 PvP set is getting the same treatment.

I should point out to anyone who hasn't looked for themselves that there are not one but three new T2 PVP sets for each class, each with their own stat emphasis just like the T1/T2 PvE gear we have now.

I'd also sell soulforged and go for something like barkshield. Healing depression makes it not worth it unless they patched it to not be affected by healing depression in the last couple weeks I was gone.

This was changed due to the number of people who were/are using GG sets for PVE.

Also, why would we need to buy GG sets BEFORE the patch? Did I miss something where they are removing GG sets for purchase?

Healing suppression made healing less effective but the tenacity aspect made HP more effective by over 30%.

This patch benefits GWF's more than anyone else. You will see.

That's why I made one recently.

There is an armor trader which will trade the PvE (GG version) into the PvP (tenacity version) for a limited time once these changes take place. Else, you will have to wait to farm glory and those seal things (which I think are only 1 per day from a daily? I know you get one from a daily so I am assuming this is how it works, but I haven't really seen much info on it).

I don't know if you read anything else in this topic, but you didn't answer my question, but this is already stated in this topic. In fact, I have personally talked about this. What I was asking some people have said buy GG BEFORE the patch. I guess you didn't read that.

He did answer your question, you just had to infer how it applied. They are saying buy your GG stuff off the trading post now for AD then you can trade it for gear with tenacity post patch. The other way to get the set is to farm glory which will take time. So if you want a tenacity set right away you can do it this way with AD now to get ready. Make sense?

No, my question is why would I need to buy it before the patch.

I already have GG sets on all my chars and most of my chars have 200-500 coins...all this I stated previously.

I think the difficulty communicating is the difference between why would you-xelliz personally need to vs. why would some other person who didn't have your resources want to (no time to earn the stuff you-xelliz already have in order to make the same insta-trade).

I bought Zen for additional char slots.

I will give a week for:

    - trying to make my CW work
    - watching what builds will be emerging, all classes

If after a week, I cannot make my CW function at least as good as on Live, she's done for, and relegated to full PvE, with r6-7 or something should be enough for how challenging PvE content is :\

After that, I'll ponder on my 2 choices:

    - leave game
    - reroll, and if I do reroll, it will probably be yet another halfling IV sent GWF, or maybe a HR - but I'll make sure to choose this time the dumbest, most OP and imbalanced build/class/race combo, and move my enchants to it

As for glory, I maxed it, and have lots of GG coins.

Only cons for this would be leveling another char, and going through boons and gearing - again.

If you want to pick something fun, I would recommend a HR, as there are so many options with specs. I just made a GWF, and it seems the only viable spec is IV senti that everyone uses, only variation is a few heroic points. Then all you do is spam threatening rush and takedown, and hope you have a better latency than your opponent.

My CW's been retired since mod 2 from PvP, just got sick of being "The Immortal".

I had a Mule to spare and pulled a 11.8k IV-Sentinel out of nowhere. Really nothing fancy, 30k Health, full Dread Ring boons, two Sharandar boons, two artifacts. I mean, I was having some fun with my Destroyer already while farming the PVP Arti, but it's not remotely comparable. Press here for easy mode and play.

Well, I had many awesome premades on the CW when I was on very good teams, nowhere near "Immortal" type of results. All it takes is pro team where you can play support full time and run around killing stuff and kiting when the other guys start following you with dedication.

But whenever my team was on short end of the stick and I had to pull my own weight many times in 1vs1 situations, CW weaknesses were apparent, regardless of what spells/build I tried using.

Basically, in the end I was OK with the situation, you cannot always play with A-Teamers, losing is unavoidable sometimes.

But then, this disaster patch... where there's nothing to adapt to, no build that is spike damage, no build that can CC... just dumb class.

    Sigh.

I already talked to some HRs about this, maybe I'll shoot you a PM as well in a week or so, to see what you came up with for your HR and if it would suit my playstyle.

I pretty much like how HR plays on Live, seems to me a class with awesome mechanics and requiring lots of awareness and stuff, with a bit of broken stuff, but whatever.

It's a game, my reasons being here is have fun, no fun, no reason to stay.

You can't start playing Renegade from 0 to 100 in a day. It took me at least 8 months to get where I am, to find the spell combos for any situation. And I'm still learning.
