Sounds like the Fawn might be the first pet to finally unseat the CD Nursemaid as the favourite ... I shall try for one as well, though I don't think I could ever completely abandon my faithful Cleric, she might not be out and about as often ...
What the heck is the "Celebration of Simril"?
The Realms celebrates Midwinter.
The point of a shared world is using the established IP not to just make up whatever you want...
I can understand if they didn't want to say "Midwinter comes to Neverwinter" as that sounds off (given the whole Neverwinter bit) while "Simril comes to Neverwinter" works. But the loader goes and says "Winter Festival" anyway.
Im really concerned about the Monsters On Ice event, points are rewarded for kills. Unfortunately that means a dip aoe can come in and take your kills no matter that you do the most damage. Nice thought, badly implemented. Really badly implemented considering they SHOULD have figured out that there was going to be some 'hole out there that would do something like kill steal. Just watched this aoer come into my fight and kill everything but the grunts and he hit 4th in the contest with a few aoes, just kept stalking my kills. Frankly with actions like this, I'm really disappointed in the festival. It was a nice concept, kudos on that at least.
there should be an official winter festival thread, but anywho, one big problem I see with the winter festival is that the only event worth your time is the fishing. even if you come in third for one of the other events, you would have made at least five times more simril just from fishing during that time. there should really be a minor simril drop from monsters during the invasion event, and taking part in the slalom should give you a small amount of simril on finishing a run, depending on how well you did (or even just scaling your simril reward with your score in the contest)

I am confused right now. The game is called Neverwinter but we have a winter festival, shouldn't it be renamed Sometimeswinter or something?
Neverwinter players are stubborn things....until you strip them down to bone. (Cursed players, my flowers, MINE!) Oh how I plotted their demise.

. . . . . . Neverwinter is the name of the city the game starts in. The game is based in the Forgotten Realms as a whole though. The Winterfest event that we travel to (if you notice when transitioning on the map and the lore there-in) takes place in an entirely different town, on the other side of the Neverwinter Wood. The reason Neverwinter has it's name is because of the geographical anomaly caused by Mount Hotenow. Mount Hotenow's magma chambers keep the ground in and around Neverwinter warm, preventing snow from accumulating. Kind-of like how some towns have heated streets in our real world or how hot-springs in the middle of arctic and sub-arctic places keep the waters and land warm.
