Looks beautiful. I must have the new companion!

    It looks beautiful.

The area design on festival events has been top-notch, I gotta say.

In the text is only one of the two companions mentioned. What is with the Fawn of Shialla?

Darn, I was hoping the Winter Mimic would look like a wrapped present.

It's not mentioned in the news post, but on Preview, a reward-intensification period "Zenith of the Winter Festival" is scheduled for January 2nd, 2014 to January 9th, 2014, which should help players who are finding the end of year too busy.

The Winter Festival events include (subject to change):
-The Twilight Run – Take part in slalom races around the Lake Glorfindar on your favorite mounts, on your feet, or the brand new magical Winter Sled mount!
-Monsters on Ice – Fight on an icy lake against frost goblins, ice trolls, and rimefire golems in a contest to defeat the most frigid foes possible!
-Ice Fishing – Go ice fishing across Lake Glorfindar, utilizing rare baits and better rods to pull in the largest fish possible. Rare fish bring in more points in a contest, and more Lights of Simril to be used for various Winter Festival-exclusive items
-Star Gazing – Stare into the winter sky and view the various constellations of Neverwinter and receive a fortune. Lucky players may even receive a special buff!
-Simril Lightcrafting – Collect the Lights of Simril and craft them into various items in a brand new Master of Lights profession!
-New Holiday Items – Use the Lights of Simril and Stars of Fortune currencies to purchase rewards such as the new Sparkling weapons, fashionable scarves, the Winter Sled and Dappled Riding Horse mounts, the Frost Mimic and Fawn of Shialla companions, and more!

    MISSING!

(PVP) Domination on Ice – Fight on an icy lake against other players in a contest to earn glory!

Seriously guys... your dropping the ball not having even limited time pvp maps, dont even HAve to be good maps just a change of pace is SO welcomed!

This would have required prior planning from back in April to be completed by December. So maybe 2014 Christmas their will be a new seasonal PvP map.

That is one fine looking mimic. Hopefully the first of many mimic companions.

Any chance we could get the stats on it?

The news post mentions "Major Vario Cephied of Twilight Tor", are you sure he's not Mayor of Twilight Tor, and not just some military officer (perhaps retired) living there?

A pvp type snowball fight would be fun , they had a snowball fight pvp map in Guild wars for Wintersday and it was really fun , you even got a full set of special snowball fight themed skills , still the event they have planned sounds very good even without any pvp.

Edit - 2 threads merged totally makes it look like I'm spamming the same thread -.-

Haha yeah poor Fawn , everybody will get that Mimic... if you only get to choose one companion then maybe I'll get that Fawn on an alt since it could end up being quite rare , I Really hope event rewards are all BoE and not BoP although I'm guessing that they will be bound -.- .

It'd be awesome if the fawn is actually a deer MADE OUT OF ICE! And if she's a healer companion, even better!

As for the mimic - as cool as it is, it'll probably be a striker, which would be more desirable for its fun/aesthetic aspects, rather than its performance...

If his name is the pun that I think it is, his surname might be misspelled unless it's intentional....

Really, really looking forward to this event, though. My halfling wiz is thrilled for a pet mimic, my DC is cooing over the thought of a fawn, and I'm thrilled that the event somehow combines my two favorite things ever (winter and astronomy!) into the same awesome package. This is gonna be fun. :o

I must say, this even sounds a lot more active than midsummer, which sounds like it will totally be an improvement. The festival is going on for quite a while to boot, so I'm hoping not to feel overwhelmed by it all XD.

That mimic skin looks amazing and I cannot wait to see what the weapons and everything else looks like when it hits Live!

Oh yeah. Sword Coast Adventures is planned to go Live with Winter Festival. (just found this out)
    goatshark wrote: »
Correct. All companions must be on the same character to use them together.

And to answer another question that's come up in a few places: if you own between 1 and 3 companions, you can still play SCA with the aid of temporary companions. These temporary companions are weak (rank 1 equivalent) and take their share of companion XP, but they do allow you to play through adventures and collect other rewards.

As for when SCA will be available on live, pending no major problems, we are going to launch it on the same day as the winter event: December 19th! Exciting! :)
    contents to be decided

It will be probably just a buff, but for me this will be the most important thing in this event, thank you very much! I will be contemplating the stars to enjoy the creation of the gods.

I lol'd so hard at that. I live in the caribbean so we dont have snow here, summer all year long, but when i was in the U.S. in winter in 95'....lets say i was target practice for my cousins, those things really hurt, but its a heck of a lot fun.
