Whats value? I can easily spend $40 for a movie and some popcorn, that will get me 2 hours of entertainment and possibly a tummy ache. The only thing I get to keep at the end of the exchange is a ticket stub and a popcorn bucket I can use as a hat. And yet few people seem to have a problem with that.

But spend the same $40 on a digital pony, that I might be able to enjoy for months or more, of game play. And folks have the nerve to consider that a waste of money for me. How thoughtful of them.

Value is in the eye of the beholder. Some folks just need to stop being so judgmental.

Well you really have to look at the source don't you? I have often talked about 'the usual suspects" who spend twelve to sixteen hours a day *****ing about something or obsessively looking for positive threads to bring down. It sorta makes you wonder what their actual motives are.

I haven't spent any money since Nightmare Thursday, and as the majority of my toons are now suffering from crippling bugs to their powers or class features I don't at all feel inclined to.

i spent over 6000 today alone opening up nothing but feywild lockboxes .... didn't get a mount or a companion or even an epic runestone/enchantment. really sucked! only thing i'm sure about is i qualify for the Quickling Companion for buying the Zen ... and is it just me, or does he look like Sackboy, from LBP, on crack?? lol

i got a few Astral Resonators ... I've noticed it says 'between 40,000 and 50,000 per harvest'? i kept tabs, only getting about 42,000 on average if that much. I liked it better when you got the other one that was a solid 50,000. :(

anyway, boxes are dropping quite frequently but not getting anything to write home about from them :( i doubt i'll buy any more Zen for awhile.

The difference is a box of popcorn IS real and actually cost to produce and sell not some worthless overpriced pixels. All we can do is hope you finally wake up before you spend $1,000's like some people and find out later it was all a WASTE.

I just realized the same could be said about me. I spend $1,000's on shoes and have over 100 pairs most haven't even worn but most people(males) would say that's a waste of money as-well but shoes are real and can't be changed, nerfed, or deleted at any time like game pixels. And plus its not MY money I'm spending so win/win.;)

I didn't mind buying zen at first. i thought it a good way to support the F2p game that I enjoyed. Little by little I have realized that it is all about the money and not about fixing a broken down game that just keeps getting buggier. Enchantment and runes that don't procs even IF you bought them with real money/zen; skills that are useless and one paragon path to choose from. It seems so commercial now. I am a casual player and play to while away time and decompress. I find I am not really missing the game all that much when I don't log in. Won't buy more zen.

The Jeweled Idol only gives you 40k AD, not 50K so the Astral Resonator is an improvement. You will never get less than you did before and most of the time you will get more. That being said, lockboxes, especially the Feywild lockboxes, are a bad investment.

Ok, first let me say I'm with you on the shoe-buying/budget thing. Also, that we are very lucky to have access to that kind of real money to spend on shoes, which I expect you already know. (I'm assuming your shoes aren't bought with credit.)

However, a digital item does cost money and resources to produce, just as popcorn does. My husband is an Internet exec (not PWE or Cryptic) and I see what happens with salary negotiations when he hires. Consequently, I am confident that each item sold through the Zen store represents a significant cost to the company. Whether the consumer finds value in the item is another issue. I, personally, am very pleased with my Feywild hound, or whatever her breed is. Her name is Dolly and I'm having a great time killing monsters with her.

I 've spent around $400 us. both packs , 50 for zen and several gift cards I received. This is typical for me in an MMO. I held 2 Eve Online accounts while I played (360$ a year) and , while I was playing, about 400$ a year for CO.. I bought the LTS there in beta, so I didn't HAVE to spend, but I'm a supporter as well as a player.

My last purchase here was the KOTF pack, and I'm not planning on dropping any more in the foreseeable future. Spending early did let me get a nice bank started here so I don't HAVE to spend, but normally there would be more to come just because its fun to get new toys and good for the game. Unfortunately, I really don't feel that they earned what I spent on the Feywild pack.

I was very disappointed to find that the vaunted 'campaign system' is simply the horrid reputation system ported from STO and does nothing but stifle and slow player progress and requires many, many repeats of a couple of dozen rather simple quests. They joined Dungeons, basically steroid pumped clones of CO's lairs, also neither fun or popular. Rehashing substandard material to form the foundations of the endgame only leads to more complex substandard material. Fix the endgame.

It was crawling with bugs. Old bugs were NOT addressed. Tweaking with sledgehammer nerfs. BOP, which fractured the DD reward system when that system was the ONLY thins dragging some of us into those adds factories.

For a game with LIMOUSINE pricing, - $30 mounts, $1.25 lottery tickets (keys) and $2 SINGLE costume dye colors etc., I expect better than RICKSHAW content. When they do better I'll pay better.

You know as much as I like the game you aren't wrong, there are some simple steps they could take to fix this, but it seems that making sure everyone is on a mount that you might see three people on in all of Faerun is more important. It just seems the game is becoming less D&D and more PWI, they could give us the good things from STO, like the incredible character and companion customization system, I just don't get importing a rep system that most everyone universally hates. The problem is however this direction won't change until the money stops coming in and that just isn't happening for quite some time.

Not really, I didn't break my budget. Much of it went for professions assets that I could see would be much more expensive later in game. The rest to help speed leveling up of my first 5 60's - one in each class. and for new character slots early before I could afford them without help. I had an ambitious weekly AD income target and was still able to meet it in spite of the fact that I no longer run DDs, and will not until they either rework them or sweeten the pot some more to make chopping up all that adds garbage worth my time.

I am continually amazed to still see the occasional big prize drop message float by. Each of these represent on a statistical average between $100 and $150 US spent on keys alone. If you work at it you can usually recover in AH, Rhix, etc, around 60% of what you spent. End result? $50 effective mount price. One guy was talking in the forums the other day about having spent for all 96 (he said he hit the max) personal bank slots ($30). Past cryptic games regular bank slots are bought with in game money, and their cash shop equivalents are account shared. Just pure, raw, greed. Someone else complained about dropping $200 for zen for ADs to buy T2 gear and LVL 8s for his first 60 from the AH. Now THAT is spending a lot. Worse, it's WASTING a lot.

Until the majority of the player base wises up against indiscriminate spending, tightens their belts and makes Cryptic tow the line for quality and content, I'm not optimistic that it's gonna get any better.

My zen spending has increased lately, but all of it has been generated from Surveys. I think I'm at around 4 - 5k now, 1 ioun stone, character slot expansion, and then prof booster packs.

Never spent Zen for keys. Only AD. Still regret that gamble >_>, especially since it was to open feywild boxes and not the old nightmare lockboxes.
contents to be decided

I've lost count but I'm easily over $3,000 US spent I think. Playing 14 characters I have 8 that are decked out in T2's with rank 7's or higher normal or perfect enchants in the pink slots etc...
I've bought all the packs spent a fortune on keys until I had 4 nightmare mounts and spent millions of AD making enchants for my small army of characters.

I've played about 10 hours a day for about the first 100 days or so about $30 a day on average. I don't have any reason to buy anything else at this point though the thrill is gone. I'm hoping for some bug fixes and changes to some end game content of course but I'm not going anywhere I hope to be playing this game for many months to come if they can keep some content coming. I'm pretty much just logging in to pray and do professions these days however as most of my guild stopped playing awhile back. I still have a lot zen saved up but nothing really worth getting lately you can only use so many mounts and companions other then the cat and stone are a waste ( I have just about all of them so I'd know). Anyway hopefully they get some new and exciting stuff out soon other then re-skins on mounts and companions I know I'm certainly willing to spend $ if they have something I want.
Cheers

Hey there... Now I'm in the entertainment industry I spend hours everyday creating those pixels that pay my wage. IF no one spent money on Pixels I would not have a job. Now I think it is absolutely stupid for one person to sepnd 400 dollars on a game for 6 months. It is only a game. buying a 60$ founders pack and saying never again pay money I have supported you so I'm good is perfectly fine. But saying you cannot drop even 20$ on this game because it is a waste of money is selfish. I think anyone that is lv 60 should at least put some money into the game if they liked and is considering to keep playing.

Now on the other hand. I only supported this game because I'm an Old CO player. I enjoyed buying the lifetime membership in that game and I played it for 3 years, and have 20 toons that are all unique and creative. Which was the strong point of that game.

The strong point of this game is the game play the action and the team work. The fact that the devs continue to ignore player feedback no matter what and ever time you log in you have to deal with the problems the dev create because of bugs, exploits and poor class balance tells me I wasted my money when I support this game I am not getting anywhere near the longevity of buying a founders pack like I got out of CO. I doubt I'll ever put anymore money towards this game or any other game cryptic ever makes ever again from how poorly they treat the community here.

And all I asked, All I ever asked was for them to give the GWF a defined role in PvE groups.

This topic has been an ongoing outcry from players since the very beginning of Live release when the GWF suffered it's first massive nerf. And yet the class has been nerfed more than any other class since them. Sure it got one buff, and then that buff got nerfed, but I'm starting to see that it was better off after the initial nerf than it is now. When Unstoppable did not grant Temp hitpoints but you got AP generation to speak of and Slam was not terrible.

What really twists the dagger in my back from what cryptic did was the fact they "nerfed" Slam in order to please the GWF community by giving it some more utility. Utility that not a single player GWF or any other class cares for the GWF to use. And that was expressed by the player community before the slam nerf went live.

So why bother putting up with this company at all.

As for you nah sayers out there that will bash me for bashing the game. I'll remind you that I started out very positive and very thoughtful in my debates and eventually turned to giving up. If it can happen to me it can happen to you.

I have thought that way for some time. 100% optional, but fair considering it costs *something* to develope and keep operational. People that have never paid a penny don't have much right to complain to the extent I often see here. Even if you have spent money on it, there are limits before which one should quit and leave.

See here is where that magical word "opinion" comes into play.

I found CO trite, half done and boring, especially after the tour-de-force that was CoH, yet you found it a true value...no one opinion is more valid than the other and truth is a point of view here. Will some folks think that Neverwinter sucks? Certainly, but the game still has a considerable audience, and your next question will probably be "But for how long?" That same question is asked about every MMO, hell TESO isn't out of beta and some testers are questioning it's survival past a year, the five hundred pound Gorilla is going to close down any day now and has been since 2004.

The Bottom line, like all MMO's this game will ebb and flow all of cryptic games do...and there isn't a single one that isn't profitable or is a ghost town. I have a lot of issues with the developers fickle course, questionable decisions and treatment of the realms and D&D, but I'm not so naive to think any of that will make a bit of difference to their bottom line.

I spent almost 7000 zen on enchanted keys during that week of promotion. I still got like 8000 zen left, but i havent' spent a dime on this game. I got the zen all for free.
The only problem is where to spend it. I was planning on professions booster packs but seeing as how some people opened 10 and got total HAMSTER from both asset and booster pack, i'll save my zen elsewhere. I know it's a gamble, like how opening lockboxes are, but this is neverwinter's casino where everybody is bound to lose.

The fact that the devs continue to ignore player feedback...

And all I asked, All I ever asked was for them to give the GWF a defined role in PvE groups.

So why bother putting up with this company at all.

First off, the devs listen to feedback. Feedback is the reason the nerfed GWF.

They just don't listen to YOUR specific feedback, because YOU are not the only person in the world.

Second, GWFs will never have a defined role in groups, because this is not that kind of game. When they add 10 more new classes, cleric and fighter will not even have a defined role in a group. When you see a 5 man group consisting of a Paladin, a War Marshal, a Warlock, a Ranger and a Druid, are you going to still complain that GWF's role in the party is not well defined?
