Frankly, I'd say they are a disruption to the game. Given the amount of lag issues in Protector's Enclave, having multiple spammers makes things that much worse.
How can it be lagging with only 50 average on each instance?
Thats what i dont get
We are all gamers here so you saw as I saw and I'm sure you are very upset with it. I'm talking about one person posting something like "12k GF LFG CN bla bla" posted like 3 times in a second ... yep you know what I'm talking about. Or ofc our concern here - the gold spammers, with bots perfected to post it like 20times / second. And I wonder :
Why can't DEVs put a delay on zone posts, like let's say 5 seconds. I post something in zone - I'm forced to wait like 5 seconds to post another one. And most important : if I post something identical like 2 times in a row, the 3rd time I try to post the same message should be blocked.
Any thoughts ?
The lag in enclave ? - simple thing : make instances limited to 50-70 players (like in the blue-dog-event) and the lag will be history - ofc you need to have a very high broad band and a very nice ISP, but I'm sure Cryptic has one
If you see this and have the answer - PM me or answer real quick because this post will be removed

All gold/AD sellers, it's just so rampant at the moment...........
What is being done about it?
Just starts everyone off in zone chat talkin' about it, then more seem to appear.. i mean if you want a group protectors enclave is where the masses go, so please get rid of these spamming fools.

In every MMO i played , there was a chat delay system. every sentence you write you had to wait minimum 20 seconds to write another.

Yes it seems the gold spammers with the advertisement names are ALL over now. We have two who constantly are in the AH area on Dragon and yes both were reported but they are still there. Sadly they also have the same handles they were reported under so not sure how quick the GMs / Devs are actually acting on it. Even when they do, until there is better name control / filtering in the character creation, it isn't going to stop. It cracks me up because in other MMOs I have played well known names and close variants of (aka Drizzt, Aragorn, Conan, Frodo, Bilbo, etc.) would not even be possible let alone a complete web URL.
Do we know if the Ignore option prevents these spammers from still doing an emote with your character to advertise their sites? I am assuming it only hides it from the player who placed them on ignore but I may be wrong. Sure I have them on ignore but still not keen on them being able to do emotes with characters to spam their website's name in zone.
I mean, I have no idea who you employ now to write the code for your game, but they are clearly not computer programmers.
Because computer programmers know what a REGEX (Regular Expression) is, and could use them to prevent any chat, tell, email, character name, guild name or any other custom text which contains any type of website or email address.
...for Cryptic/PWE to handle it. I'm not the OP, but it should be obvious they're not doing enough to stop gold spamming.
there is nothing "obvious" just an assumpution on your part...as i said you can report spam, if enough ppl flag a single char then i'm sure it will be investigated. stop making a mountain out of a mole hill.

When you see it every time you log in that's not an "assumuption" [sic], that's an observation. Rampant gold spamming occurrences are a fact. And since they're rampant it's not much of a jump to say Cryptic/PWE isn't doing enough to stop it.
They wont be putting anymore funding into this game then they already do. They know the player base is dropping off slowly they will just continue as planned to get as much coin as possible from the people stupid enough to spend cash on the game.
So suck it up butter cup deal with the gold sellers they like most people will leave the game in time also.

I bet the devs have never thought of using a regular expression... Seriously dude?

Exactly. Wiki'd information. Plenty of information to be had; a little bit short on how to practically apply said information.
Now, let me explain why this isn't as useful or permanent as you may think in practical application:
Spammers aren't above completely mangling their message in such a way as to confound any filter-based method to stop their spam. They still get through to the computer that matters in their case--the human brain, which can see patterns and designs that a filter simply can't be programmed to catch.
Example: VVVVVV . blahblahblah . ( 0 ^^
Now, that isn't going to be stopped by any sort of filter. However, the brain can see the intended message there.

Support Tickets? Those actually exist? I thought they were only legends.
They exist for 7-10 days, then are purged with a boiler plate reply saying if you still have the issue to create another ticket.
The gold seller issue can also be resolved by pricing them out of the market, as other MMOs do.

Totally agree on the they need to hire more debug staff. At least double it or even quad the staff.
I would like to know how many they actually have for debugging this game
