I've read up on this thread and I have watched a decent amount of your videos. I was hoping you could answer a few of my questions:
1. Can you elaborate on your feat choices?
2. Is it pretty much gg when you come across a GF/GWF who knows what they are doing? Do you have any tips against GFs and/or GWF?
3. Can you elaborate on your encounter choices for single target(Lashing DOTS) choices? Do you have time to just DOT them with how fragile you are?
4. Have you ever messed with trying a hybrid build of some sort?
Is there a feat/feats in particular you were curious about? My mindset behind everything for the most part is trying to maximize my burst potential but being efficient about it, for example I already have 2,077 AP, so boosting my AP anymore is not the biggest priority, hence a feat like Templar's Domain shouldn't be maxed out. Another example is I pick up Disciple of Divine Lore instead of Focused Poise because having an extra 10% damage across all my abilities is much better than boosting the damage of a single ability by 10% (especially when its just an at-will).
2. Is it pretty much gg when you come across a GF/GWF who knows what they are doing? Do you have any tips against GFs and/or GWF?
If you get the jump on them you can drop their health to nothing before they even know whats going on. GF's especially even though they can block, you shred through their block meter in seconds and you can burn down GWFS even when they are in unstoppable. (Even in unstoppable I've crit GWFs for 6-10k)
I think against a smart, well-geared GF you're going to run into trouble, GWFs are not as troublesome simply because they dont have the same amount of cc and can't outright negate all of your damage. I have a couple of videos (2 posted on this guide) showing me facing a GF and GWF 1v1 (they are basically an example of the average player you'll run into) if you want to see how I deal with them.
3. Can you elaborate on your encounter choices for single target(Lashing DOTS) choices? Do you have time to just DOT them with how fragile you are?
You should always have time to use your encounters, its simply a matter of positioning yourself appropriately in relation to where the enemy is. I think my Lashing Dots encounters are extremely powerful for single target and 1v1 situations. There is less you have to think about, less skill involved in doing damage compared to Lashing Light encounters (which are all true skillshots) and consistent DPS. You can burn down ANY class by yourself with these encounters, especially if you get the jump on them. In a premade or just a tough game in general if I'm solo q'd I use my Lashing DOTs encounters.
4. Have you ever messed with trying a hybrid build of some sort?
No, not interested in any sort of healing during PvP, just not my playstyle, at least not in this game. I do heal with Soothing Light when I think its appropriate but thats it.

trash set.. i want a real pvp set for CW. crit+power
recovery
deflect
regen
usuless
Cleric Set OP
Crit
Power
ARMOR PEN.
joke ? epic pvp set.
I found this in another thread, (CW discussion on the new set for them.) and I was wondering how this would change your setup. This, im assuming the new PvP set coming in Feywild. Im currently working a DPS burst cleric. Just wanted some feedback on what you think of it. I think it is going to be really really viable.

I've had a look at it several times now and in terms of the stats you get from the set, it's very good for damage. The set bonus seems quite useful as well, but I want to know specifically all the spells it triggers on. You can probably guess what the spells are by the description, but you never know with this game. Another thing that is relevant is whether the HoT that triggers is static or not. Meaning, does the HoT always heal for the same amount or is it affected by stats, can it crit, etc.
I think for a hybrid build of DPS/Healing it looks like a dream come true, but for the pure damage route, High Prophet is still (unfortunately) the best.
However, because of the 800+ armor pen on this new one I would say it's easily the second best for DPS.
Now, hypothetically speaking, if I were to equip this new set now and still go pure damage, the armor pen from the set would allow me to drop a good number of my Dark Enchants and put something else in, perhaps Savages or Tenebs, or perhaps I could boost my defenses more by switching out some offensive slot items and getting more hp.

wouldn't it be better to put points in Focused Poise instead of Ethereal Boon? the latter just gives us 10% of a bar of divine every 10 or so seconds when fighting while the former provides us with 10% more divine atop of a 10% dmg boost when using Lance of Faith.

Key words: "when using Lance of Faith" something that you don't really use that often, the reason for this being that Punishing Light gives you mobility and hits the target at a faster rate.
For example, if you take my Lashing DOT encounter setup, the way my skill rotation would work if I had no divine power would be, PoD -> BtS -> FF -> BotS -> (at this point you easily have over a bar of Divine power) switch to divine mode -> Punishing Light until dead. The only classes that ever survive that combo are GWFs or GF's, usually its 50/50 depending on their gear. Either way they will either be dead or about to die. So only then if the target isn't dead do I start using Lance.
Not to mention that the 10% damage boost to Lance is fairly inconsequential and you gain more consistent divine power overall from Ethereal Boon.

it fits my play style rather well as I prefer to use healing word and don't bother with armor penetration as I put everything into power, critical chance, and defense... it would lower my power but that would be offset by the penetration so the group healing is what I would gain and it would enable me to play my PvP play style in PvE as the group heal for my going with word over astral shield would be quite viable
I agree that dps clerics die ultra ultra fast. Literally one or two shot by any class in any gear, despite their 21/22 AC!
But, ironically, in most groups you contribute far more with damage and kills and freedom of positioning on the battle field, instead of being forced to always go where there are the most enemies just to even start to do your job, i.e. get Divinity.
Of course, in a good group or premade who are aware of all the cap points, fight on points instead of middle of nowhere, play to win instead of play for kills, possibly even communicate (shock!), etc. a healer is far more valuable. But in pugs, such groups almost never appear. So, overall dps cleric is just more fun and effective instead of banging your head against a wall 1,000 times and dying almost as fast as a dps cleric anyway.
Only if you are a specialised high CON build with high HP gear and high regen does your survivability improve to the point where you can hang around on a point for long enough not quite dead yet from a 1v1 for team mates to notice and therefore for you to lead where a fight takes place. In that situation, survivability = Divinity = healing = leadership = viability. So, you can always afford to run random pugs as a healer then.
In short, the win/loss rate of my pvp battles as dps cleric is much higher than as a healer since I only pug.
I do the same, except I'm not that squishy. 1v1 I'll win most of the time unless others show up. I'll go after cap points alone quite often and most always play on point. I'll get around 8 kills, get killed in turn a bit less than that, often a lot less, and end up in either first or second place most of the time and I normally am always the top scoring cleric and most are extremely happy with my heals as I spam healing word as much as possible to build divinity. My critical chance is around 36% without any buffing/potions. My offensive rating is around 10,000. I don't have high HP, and I have zero regeneration.

Yeah, like a said, if you're hybrid specced it looks like an excellent choice, but if you're truly pure damage this shouldn't really fly on your radar all that much. Although I'm curious to see just how effective the heal from the full set bonus is, seems like if it's effected by stats it could be very strong.

I'm just wondering how well it will allow clerics play in PvE if they would rather not use astral shield (I use healing word cause it fills up my divinity rather easily, and switching to astral shield is a real killer for me). The group heal is enticing and would likely be equivalent to dropping the -40% self healing penalty while making healing others so much easier. Very few clerics play like I do though, had one on my team in PvP yesterday and we pretty much owned the match when we around each other. But I see very few others taking this road, so I think the set won't be that appealing to most clerics who will still go for miracle healer. It makes sense to come out with this set though, cause for the healing orientated you have miracle healer, for the damage orientated you have the set you like (though a tier two set of that should be added as its non-bonus stats are one level down from the others), and the clerics like me end up going with 2 and 2 pieces with no full set being as appealing.
But I see very few others taking this road, so I think the set won't be that appealing to most clerics who will still go for miracle healer.
It's definitely an attempt to boost single target healing potential without the aid of Divinity, cause you're mostly right, majority of clerics dont go that route at 60 and end up just using Soothing Light if they need to single target heal.

How often does your Disciple of Divine Lore proc from Healer's Lore? Does it seem to check every 8 seconds whenever you have Healer's Lore slotted, or does it proc only when you heal? If it's the former and it procs often, I can see how it would be very useful. If not, I'm wondering if a different passive might work just as well.

It procs quite often and off of any ability, including At-Wills. I think for over-all dps its better than something like Focused Poise.

Random drop rate is random, but I picked up that High Prophet piece on my third DD trip through Cragmire. IMO, Cragmire is one of the more fun dungeon crawls too, very much like a classic D&D adventure, so it wasn't tiresome at all.
Btw this is a really great guide and I've seen the LIGHT
I tried the Lashing Light original and had some on and off luck in PvP but mostly got wasted. I changed around to Lashing Light DoTs and boom I'm in love. Starting to really come together. Just did 18 kills - 3 deaths on a evenly matched team. This is without a chest enchant and Brilliant Energy Enchant in my weapon.

Yeah, using Daunting Light can be amazing sometimes, but DOTs are always a sure fire way to rack up kills and melt single targets. Glad you're having success with it.

Yeah, I think with this build its still going to hit very hard, but for the average cleric who is healing or a possible hybrid, its a big nerf and an unnecessary change.

hey gctrl...quick question...have you tried swapping out lance for sacred flame?...for some reason when i run tests..it seems sacred crits a whole lot more.... i have my own dps build and i do fairly well with it...just wondering if you have run any tests and there's a reason i SHOULD be using lance instead
Comments
The easiest way to get them is from Cragmire during Delves, but you definitely can also get them from T2 dungeons randomly.

um no maybe balance by making other classes stronger not nerfing thanks. Un-nerfing the self heal debuff would be better.
I wasn't serious.
Though a well geared and skilled cleric like gctrl can blow up three players better than a trickster can blow up one.
oh sorry wasn't sure. Yeah blowing people up in PvP is fun as a cleric. Hilarious reactions sometimes
Have to crit, but yes, you're right for the most part.
